Samsung Captivate :: Tool - Droid Explorer - Remove AT&T Bloatware W/Ease

Droid Explorer
Check This Tool Out I Found! Android is Getting Convenient
Droid Explorer is a tool to manage your rooted android device with the simplicity of Windows Explorer. You can browse every file on your Android device, much like the infamous app "Root Explorer" does. I think this is very much so a handy tool for those that are in need of removing some software....like the bloatware that comes preintalled. Some of you may even want to add stuff, like Google Maps and so on. Try it out!!
I highly recommend standalone for Windows users.....

I could send mass texts with ease. Got a captivate last friday and tried to send my first today. First, it only lets me send to 10 contacts, but more importantly when I sent it the message shows up 10 times in same window. Is that normal for android or is there some way to change that and is there something better out there to send mass texts?

I rooted my Captivate tonight and I know how the superuser icon with android skull and crossbones. However neither Super Manager or ASTRO will allow me to uninstall the crap ware on my phone. Is there something I'm missing? I followed all the steps at XDA. So far I've tried to remove YPMobile, ATT Navigator, and ATT Maps. Any suggestions? I tried searching this on google and this forum but didn't come up with anything.

I've down the root script and have the 'superuser' app installed. I know how to use ADB, but I keep getting permission denied when I do 'adb shell su'.
How do I remove these buggers! I also tried ASTRO explorer, still denied.

I rooted my phone, installed lagfix, and removed some bloatware from the phone via Titanium. The phone was stupid fast after doing this, almost everything loaded up instantly. However I started to notice some things weren't functioning properly. Apps on the marketplace would not download, I would try to download Launcher Pro and nothing would happen, nothing downloaded. Tried this with other apps, same thing. I rebooted the phone and noticed upon reboot that a force close/app error happened, not sure which app it was but it had google in it. I have no idea what app it could have been since I only removed apps if I knew what they were like Slacker, Kindle, Sims etc. Maybe removing the Sims caused the error?
I also noticed that emails wouldn't send (or would take a long time) even when I was on wifi. And the XDA app wouldn't work. I would go to make a post, click the text input box, but it wouldn't let me move the text cursor. I would press the keyboard and nothing happened.
I removed a crap ton of apps but they weren't anything major. I also removed the samsung widgets since I would never use those. Guess I should have asked on the forums before removing so much stuff.
Which apps are okay to remove? Any ideas on which app could have caused the market to mess up?

I've been with Apple for the last two years, so I'm sorry if these questions are relatively simple.
1. Will rooting let me get rid of any bloatware? Or touchwiz?
2. I hear that rooting on this isn't "true" rooting. What does this mean, will it eventualy be "true", and what apps will this prevent me from running

I am new to this (less than a week) and I removed everything with root explorer (and it was so simple). You can get it from the market. I would recommend it if you are not used to linux commands. It was well worth the two dollars for me. The main thing to know is r/w (read/write) vs. r/o (read only). It is just as it says - r/o will only let you read files, while r/w will let you read AND write files (which includes move and delete).

I checked my data usage at the AT&T web site and found that the phone was sending lots of data on its own. One night while sitting on the counter it sent over 19 megabytes at 2:41 am. For 4 nights in a row a data transmission ocurred at this exact time. Following are excerpts from my bill: Code...

I've rooted my phone and used TitaniumBackup to remove the AT&T bloatware. I've also configured it for sideloading apps so I could load the SiriusXM app from their website. Of course - now I can't get the OTA update. I just get the error where it says it's downloading, restarts the phone, says it's installing then reboots the phone again and says the update failed.
Maybe the OTA update is trying to update one of the bloatware apps and that's why it's failing? Or would removing the Superuser app (unrooting) and Busybox be enough to get the update?
Either way - because I deleted the apps using TitaniumBackup I have no backup (I know, I'm an idiot). I thought I did a TB backup before removing the apps but I have no idea where to look to restore them. They aren't listed in the app list when I click on Backup/Restore.

When custom roms come out for the Captivate will this be able to make it where it is bloatfree from AT&T and have custom things being able to add any apk app without doing the sideloading stuff ect? I am wondering if custom ROMs will make it where we can do whatever we want without AT&T restrictions.

When I originally rooted my phone (I had 2.1 at the time), I was able to remove all the bloatware i didnt want by going into Root Explorer and changing each application's file extension from .apk to .bak.
Now, with Froyo, I tried to do the same thing, but the only apps that show up in /data/app are the ones that I have installed off the market.
Am I looking in the correct directory? How do I go about removing all this crap in Froyo?

Ok I figured out how to delete the ATT bloatware off the Captivate using Titanium Backup. But how do I reinstall it? I only deleted 'ATT Family Maps' for now until I can figure out how to reinstall things, incase I have a problem later and need to go back to ATT. I clicked 'backup' before i deleted it. But I don't know what buttons to press to get stuff back from the backup.

I am running rooted incredible with 2.x radio, and virtuous' 2.2 ROM. Its working... well, kinda slow... In fact, its lagging (? unhappy face )
I am new to rooting, just started messing with it yesterday. I followed JONAMERICA's site to rooting, reflashing to stock with S-OFF, and going with the manual radio and rom update.
Then, to delete apps I followed his instruction as well, but whenever I type in command prompt "cdsd ools" it says directory not found...
I want to remove voice dialer, news, google search, gmail, and friend stream. I know that Virtuous has a EZcustomizer, but it doesnt remove these apps that I want off.
Also, any ideas as to why its working so slow? Like... it lags when i go from screen to screen, loading apps take a bit longer than when I was on 2.1 last night... once again, slightly unhappy face...
I followed everything else to the letter...
Heres a link to his site, if anyone doesnt know what I'm talking about...Remove bloatware from HTC Droid Incredible 2.2 - Technology - Jonamerica.com

So I finally rooted my phone the other night. Already did a nandroid backup and a Titanium backup. Just installed SetCPU and now its time to remove my bloatware.I have found MANY different ways to remove it posted online, can someone please recommend a simple easy (fool-proof) way for me to remove them? I am not stupid, but I am definitely not technologically inclined - so step by step instructions (or a link to step by step instructions).

I rooted my phone last night following the guide and the help of a wonderful forum member and it went smoothly. I'm still on 1.5 and will stay here awhile 'till I get the nerve again to do a 2.1. I need to get used to the fact that I did just root my phone.
With all that said I have root explorer on my phone. I was going to use the list of safe apps that can be removed and I was going to cut and paste them into a backup directory in case I do something wrong. Does this sound safe and cautious? Or I was thinking about using Fresh Kitchen but I think I have to have that Rom on my phone and I don't want to go there yet. I would appreciate any suggestions on the safest way and easiest way to get rid of those apps.

I've just root my Desire using the unrevoked v3.21, and i intend to remove the bloatware like teeter, stock, talk and plurk once and for all. so i went to the market and download the root explorer and titanium backup. When i try to uninstall using the titanium backup, it freeze and reboot my phone, and the bloatware are still there. so i tried using root explorer to delete the apk and the odex in the system/app folder, but after i've deleted them, i reboot my phone and see they are still there. Is there any ways to remove the bloatware for good? I've search around and came across this "adb shell" that can be use to remove the bloatware. May i know how it works?

I am trying to remove the at&t from my (new) Xperia X10. I have installed universal android, superuser.apk, Titanium Backup, and Android Mate. when I try to uninstall the bloatware, my phone says the uninstall was unsuccessful. I have read that I should go to settings--applications-- and click unknown apps...the problem is that I do not have that option. I figure I can't be the first to run into this problem.
