Every time I try to do an update on this phone it says "failed to communicate with the server".I have not rooted or sideloaded or done anything to the phone. How will I be able to get the updates?

Has anybody received an error "the server failed to communicate" when attempting to get an internet connection?A restart didn't appear to resolve it so I took the battery out and now its working.I don't think its network related as I had a HSDPA signal at the time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedCan any body tell me why this is happening..Whenever i try to open a website located in the intranet server,(or even a local machine with tomcat web server) i get this message.Data connectivity problem..Server failed to communicate.Please try again later The browser works fine for all other websites i tried google,youtube,yahoo,etc all of them worked fine.Do i need to set any other value in the emulator? Any one else got the same problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm starting my first Android Application and I'm trying to figure out the best way to implement an RPC layer to communicate with my Tomcat server. Basically, I've got POJOs on the Android Client and on the Server. I simply would like to seserialize the POJOs on Android, send up an HTTP Post, deserialize on the server, do some work, then serialize a POJO response back down to the client. I've seen a number of posts referencing JSON and XML but nothing really definitive.
Further clouding the matter is the different Android SDKs out there that seem to have different levels of support for each. Obviously, if Android has a native library that works well, I'd like to use that. Additionally, I'd like something that could work with my existing POJOs without a great deal of trouble. What are the best practices for this sort of thing? Can anyone send me to any tutorials that have some solid examples on how to get this implemented and going?
I installed the drivers listed in the topic at the top, I clicked mass storage as my option when i connected the phone, i mounted it by bringing down the drop down menu at the top of the phone (and hitting mount).... but when i connect it to my computer, I get nothing. I used to get an error message saying "There has been a malfunction with your USB device" in the lower right hand corner. I'm running Windows 7 32bit. I also tried on a Windows XP 32bit computer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy camera stopped working at the worst time just when I needed to take some pics at a dinner today. Has anyone encountered a "Camera Failed" message after opening the Camera application? I tried rebooting many times (at least 5-6 times) hoping it was a software glitch, but would not go away. I was testing the GPS navigation (using Google Maps) and my battery drained from 60% to 30% in 20 mins!! Does using navigation or low battery charge screw up the camera?I was sure it was a HW defect thinking I had to return the unit, but when I got home, and plugged into wall charger for a few minutes, I found that camera started working again.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIve noticed that when I send a text and the phone is out of signal, it just says, "FAILED" and calls it a day. I miss my blackberry in this respect, it would wait until it DID have signal and then would automatically resend. Is there any way to set this phone up so it automatically resends when I get signal back? I do get it sometimes where it says that its saving the texts until signal is rereached, however, lets say I get one bar back, well the phone "sees" that Im getting signal, tries to send, and then fails, and then calls it a day....

View 20 Replies View RelatedFor the past few weeks ive been trying to do a software update on my phone. i know 2.2 isnt available yet, but i just wanted to give it a try for sh!ts n giggles. my old captivate that i returned was able to connect to the att server and gave me a message saying that there are no updates available. the new captivate i have wont even connect to the att server. it sucks that i have to wait 24hours until i can try again. everytime ive done it, it gives me that error message. anyone else having this issue? i thought being rooted and having the one click lag fix was the problem so i undid the lag fix and unrooted, but i still got the same error message. im worried that when 2.2 is available, i wont be able to get it since i cant even connect to the att server.

I had a stock Captivate with Eclair J6. I rooted and installed Rom Manager with ClockWork Recovery. I made a backup of my current ROM.I then installed the Cognition Froyo Beta. I decided I wanted to roll back to my backup ROM but whenever I reboot into Recovery, I no longer get any option of installing a ROM, update.zip, etc. All I get is a shortened menu that says "reboot, clear cache, wipe user data, wipe internal SD card". I also get an error that says signature verification failed.I tried reflashing the recovery area with a new clockwork update but I get the same result when rebooting into recovery. How can I restore my recovery area to a working state with the normal options?

Given both these situations, I'd like to know if there was a way to increase or change the call failed/ended tone. Problem is, I can't hear it.

I also have my itouch with me and after it connects with hotel server, a sign-on screen comes up and I enter the server password.
Can't get the Captivate to supply a sign-on screen. Is there some other way to enter the server password that was supplied to me?
I am completely new to the Android experience, but so far am loving it. I have synchronized my phone with my exchange server and appear to have lost most of my appointments, and some of the ones that I didn't loose have replicated themselves many times. Does anyone know what caused this, how to stop it, and is it possible to recover the lost appointments? I know I had a lot of things scheduled for this week, but with the exception of a few things that have either been there for a long time or are reoccurring appointments, they are all gone.

I have search the threads on this site and google this problem but can not find an answer to this problem. I have seen other's post the same question and it doesn't seem to get answered. I called ATT and even Samsung neither could explain it either. Samsung had me reset my phone that didnt work and now they want my phone back for 5 days to reflash it. I dont think that will solve the problem either.

I rooted my captivate thinking that i could install apps that are blocked on my phone, like Sirius XM, WiFI tethering.....even after rooting the programs are still being blocked and i cant install them. am i missing something? im new to android and had an iphone that i jail broke. im confused on what rooting actually.

I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.

It happens at the top of the screen just to the right below the battery. It's a quick yellow glow then it disappears until my phone is locked then unlocked again. One of the updates had to do with my weather widget [Weather & toggle]. Anyone seen or heard of this?

Now I have an AT&T captivate and wonder whether GPS or other apps will work. Does GPS require a data plan to work? If so I'll have to figure out whetted I can add this to my T-D1 plan. This will also answer my question about whether using the Captivate for navigation in the US needs a data plan to work.

However neither Super Manager or ASTRO will allow me to uninstall the crap ware on my phone. Is there something I'm missing? I followed all the steps at XDA. So far I've tried to remove YPMobile, ATT Navigator, and ATT Maps. Any suggestions? I tried searching this on google and this forum but didn't come up with anything.
