HTC Desire :: Error Server Failed To Communicate
Jun 4, 2010
Has anybody received an error "the server failed to communicate" when attempting to get an internet connection?A restart didn't appear to resolve it so I took the battery out and now its working.I don't think its network related as I had a HSDPA signal at the time.

Using appbrain on my PC seems to work fine when I'm not logged in. When I do log in and try to click on an app I get this error message:
"Error: Server Error The server encountered an error and could not complete your request. If the problem persists, please report your problem and mention this error message and the query that caused it."
Anyone else have this issue when using Appbrain on their pc?
Well, It looks like I solved the problem. I just deleted my account and created it again and it's fixed (for now).

I'm starting my first Android Application and I'm trying to figure out the best way to implement an RPC layer to communicate with my Tomcat server. Basically, I've got POJOs on the Android Client and on the Server. I simply would like to seserialize the POJOs on Android, send up an HTTP Post, deserialize on the server, do some work, then serialize a POJO response back down to the client. I've seen a number of posts referencing JSON and XML but nothing really definitive.
Further clouding the matter is the different Android SDKs out there that seem to have different levels of support for each. Obviously, if Android has a native library that works well, I'd like to use that. Additionally, I'd like something that could work with my existing POJOs without a great deal of trouble. What are the best practices for this sort of thing? Can anyone send me to any tutorials that have some solid examples on how to get this implemented and going?

I've had a Desire for two weeks now. I was in love with the phone... until this problem came up.
I use Outlook and Microsoft Exchange -- and had read all about how Android synced easily. And it did at first. Then, 10 days ago, the calendar stopped syncing. I got a "Client/Server conversion error," and no sync. The problem only effected my calendar -- mail and contacts were synced just fine. After reading a few forums, I did a "Remove account," re-installed the account. It worked fine again. No big deal.
Then it happened again today. I did the Remove/re-install thing again, and again it was cured. Until six hours later.
Is anyone else having this problem with their calendar/exchange sync? Any solution guesses?
Without being able to sync my phone to Outlook, the Desire I love so much is somewhere between frustrating and infuriating.

I have received the following error when trying to install packages through the SDK and AVD manager tool: XML verification failed for http://dl-ssl.google.com /android/repository/ repository.xml. Error: The markup declarations contained or pointed to by the document type declaration must be well-formed. I have downloaded the latest versions of the Android SDK and AVD manager (revision 5), Eclipse IDE for Java EE developers (version 1.2.2), and the ADT (0.9.6). I have checked the Force https box in the settings tab, I also have both an http and https version of the same url. I re-downloaded all components multiple times. I am using Windows XP service pack 3. Anything anyone could suggest would be extremely helpful. You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Developers" group. When my app starts often I get this error. Only this one, anything else, and my app works fine.
What does it mean?
ERROR/AndroidRuntime(28130): ERROR: thread attach failed
28130 is the pid, but it is always different from my app's pid.

I am attempting to upgrade my ROM from the 1.7v. I dl'd the RUU file and did everything as required. However, when the bootloader tries to connect I get a prompt, "ERROR[171]:USB Connection ERROR". It asks me to make sure that the phone is connected to the USB cable and for the USB cable to be connected to the PC. Both are connected but I noticed that the phone is powered off. It will not power back on while connected. It will once I disconnect it from USB cable. This leads me to believe that the phone starts to do what it is supposed to but somehow disconnects.

I have the following problem. I was developing in android using the eclipse and android-sdk-windows saved in an folder (e.g. C:androidandroid-sdk_r07-windowsandroid- sdk-windows and C:androideclipse-pulsar-helios-win32). But after i downloaded and installed the eclipse and android sdk again, in the after folder, i got this error message: "Failed to parse the output of 'adb version' " and can't run my application, because the emutaros that starts is not identified by the eclipse, i can't find it into "Devices" tab from eclipse. I found from the net the following http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2260118/failed-to-parse-the-output "Try closing Eclipse, issuing a 'C:UsersMohitDocumentsAndroidSDKools kill-server' command from terminal and retrying. If that still doesn't work, you could try opening Activity Monitor to see if there are any existing adb processes running, and kill them. but i am using Windows XP and i don't know how to use kill-server command from the terminal. I mean in run/cmd there are is no such a command or how can i use the second solution - to open Activity Monitor from Windows XP

I picked up my new incredible last week (Awesome!). It's been working great. However, within the last day, I've been getting an error message which reads "Connection Failed: This application requires network access. Enable mobile network or Wi-Fi to download data." I've gotten this message when initiating the browser, going into email, etc. Of course, I can't access anything via the web.
When I go to settings, mobile network is checked off, although it does say "turning on..."

Searched the forums on this and found nothing - when I'm recording video after a few minutes I always get a "recording failed" error message. The video recording is there, but I have to start a new recording if I want to continue.
I'm recording at full resolution (not MMS) to the OEM external SD card. The card itself has over half its space left, so I'm not running out of room.

I see a lot of posts about writing to the SD card, but I believe my problem is different. I am unable to create the SD card during the process of building an AVD.
I initially tried to use the Android SDK and AVD Manager to do this, selecting
Name: my_avd
Target: Android 2.2 - API Level 8
SD Card: Size: 1024 MiB
Skin: Built-In: Default (HVGA)
Hardware: Property: Abstracted LCD Density, Value: 160
This pops up a window with the message:
"Result of creating AVD 'my_avd':
Error: Failed to create the SD card."
I tried to repeat the process from the command line, receiving a similar error:
CODE:........
Attempting to follow instructions for using mksdcard was equally unproductive; I think my basic lack of linux experience may be causing me a problem here. When I try to use mksdcard, it just reports that it cannot find the file or directory. Is the mksdcard tool available for use this way in linux?
CODE:..........
I've added the android tools directory to my PATH variable, but I feel like there is obviously something else I'm missing. Perhaps some kind of access rights?
Attempting to run the android command with sudo did not seem to help either:
CODE:..............
I even tried installing Eclipse and the ADT plugin and running the manager from there to no avail. Any tips would be most appreciated. Advanced warning that I am somewhat of a novice Linux user, so even if it seems like a no-brainer obvious thing to check, I could still have missed it.

I'm a developper based in the US that recently released a pay-for app in the market called "AmBu". Googlecheckout is the merchant account I am using (the only one approved by the market it seems).
Two customers were able to purchase my app from a foreign country (Europe).
However, when I'm trying to buy my own application from the US (using my G1 phone) using a valid debit or credit card number, I consistantly get a "server error" during the purchase process. I suspect I'm not the only one and I'm losing customers.
What is the right structure at google to help resolve this ? In the market blogs, I've seen few posts of people facing the same issue but nothing to help resolve this was detailed.

I'm un-rooting my phone using OMJ's guide in the everything root related guide, and I'm getting a "Failed Flashing Process" error in RSD Lite.
I am running as admin, I have the correct drivers (I recently rooted...), I have the sbf in C: .... yet it fails.
The error says " Failed Flashing Process. Failed Flashing Process. Interface BP: Error flashing subscriber unit. Device API Error: 0xE0030009 Command: ADDR (0xE0231009); phone connected"
I am going to try flashing SPRecovery to see if I can at least get to a working point.
SPRecovery worked. It boots into 2.1 and has SPRecovery as the recovery. I still want to get it to stock, so I am going to try and download the stock sbf again (it doesn't have a checksum so I have no way of knowing if it is good or not...) .... here goes nothing!

I just recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy GT-17500L (its a Bell Canada phone). After purchasing the phone (which was originally unlocked) I bought a Solo mobile sim-card, which was needed in order to use the phone on my Solo monthly plan. Everything was working fine until I decided to try and update the firmware from 1.5 to 1.6; unfortunately, like a few others from Canada, I didn't properly read the guide and after the upgrade, the phone was "re-locked" and wasn't accepting my sim-card. After going through the guide posted on Pg.4 here (Bell Canada users and Brazilian Users - Galaxy 7500L (notice the L)), with the help of Rasta-Man FB posts and others, I was able to get my phone back to the original firmware, but now I'm having reception issues. The phone will at times pick up the Solo Netowork (I'm still using the original solo sim card), but then drop it after 10 minutes and just say there is no service. When I search for networks, it recognizes the Solo one (I'm guessing b/c of the S.C) but it isn't able to connect.

I'm having a problem with the LVL in one of my apps. Here are the projects in my eclipse workspace: com_android_vending_licensing - standard LVL my_app_1 my_app_2 my_app_3 All three of the apps use the same licensing library project (including the same SALT), and share the same code in their main activities for checking the license. But when testing, one of the apps continuously fails the license request and the others respond correctly depending on what test response I set in the market "Edit Profile" page. The error I get in logcat is: 08-04 15:20:20.863: ERROR/LicenseValidator(4883): Signature verification failed. And the dontAllow() function of the LicenseCheckerCallback is run. This error message originates from line 104 of LicenseValidator.java in the licensing library. I've done some debugging and the responseCode is set to LICENSED (see line 94 of LicenseValidator.java).

But it throws error as follows: XML verification failed forhttps://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml.Error: cvc-elt.1: Cannot find the declaration of element 'sdk:sdk- repository'. Failed to fetch URL I tried "http" instead of https, but still getting the same error. I don't know why such crap error comes. If i see Android website, http://developer.android .com /intl/zh-CN/sdk/index.html its confusing.Could someone guide me easily to update Android SDK to 2.x or later without uninstalling my current setup environment.
