AT&T coverage in my area is less than stellar, so I occasionally get dropped calls. Also, I sometimes tend to piss my GF off, and she hangs up on me unexpectedly .
Given both these situations, I'd like to know if there was a way to increase or change the call failed/ended tone. Problem is, I can't hear it.

The same thing happened on my Hero, so it's Sprint related. I rarely leave my house. When I do, I'm never more than 3 miles from home. My entire surrounding area is in Sprints coverage area. Ninety-eight percent of the time I'm steadily on the 3G. Every now and then though, while still at home, my phone changes over to roaming for no rhyme or reason! I know Sprint won't throw a hissy fit over the calls and data (unless over the 300mb), but why is my phone doing this? I just checked my account and it says I've used 7760kb of data while roaming.

I really wanted to go with Sprint b/c of the EVO, my husband gets a really good discount with them through his work (22% of monthly bill and 25% off accessories), and I don't need to possibly strap a mattress on my back to pay the damn bill. I think? AT&T and Verizon have much better coverage here, and you also get a hefty bill for all that coverage. He does also get a good discount with AT&T as well but they make it so you have so sign your first born over with what they charge.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI've been having an issue with area codes and text messaging. The contact's number is stored properly xxx-xxx-xxxx in the contacts. But when he sends a text, it only shows up as xxx-xxxx, so when I reply, of course, it won't send because Nebraska is now on mandatory 10 digit dialing. So then I have to compose a new message instead of just replying in the current thread.
I had this issue at first, but only with the numbers entered in as (xxx) xxx-xxxx. So I made sure to change every number to xxx-xxx-xxxx and it seemed to fix it for a while at least.
Users are finding it difficult to register clicks on text links ...is there any way I can increase the hit area for a given view?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am going crazy! Every time I try to text my wife's phone from my contacts, it removes the area code and errors out when trying to send. I have edited the contact info and sure enough it has the correct 10 digit number. I have tried deleting the her contact info and recreating it. No dice. I again deleted her contact info, went to her phone and sent a text to mine and replied. The incoming message has the correct 10 digit number. Replying again stripped the area code and tried to use the 7 digit number. Of course this failed.Any ideas? I need some help here. I am not sure if this is an issue with the phone or with AT&T.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSometimes I have a button in my UI that it is so small that it is difficult to click. My solution so far has been to add a transparent border around the button in photoshop. Just increasing the padding on the button does not work, since this will also stretch the image. Since it is kind of a fuss to open photoshop each time I want to change the clickable surface, is there any way to do this programmatically? I have tried placing a framelayout behind the button and make it clickable, but then the button wont change appearance on touch as it should. Ofcourse I could also add a ontouchlistener on the framelayout which changes the buttons appearance, but then it quite some code if I have several of those buttons.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Captivate has been plugged in for the past 2+ hours and I barely have 40% battery. Also, my charging cord doesn't stay plugged in. If I pick it up at all while it is charging, the cord falls out. I love this phone, but this may be a deal breaker. What are the chances these issues are just with the phone? Should I go to AT&T and get a new one?

I installed the drivers listed in the topic at the top, I clicked mass storage as my option when i connected the phone, i mounted it by bringing down the drop down menu at the top of the phone (and hitting mount).... but when i connect it to my computer, I get nothing. I used to get an error message saying "There has been a malfunction with your USB device" in the lower right hand corner. I'm running Windows 7 32bit. I also tried on a Windows XP 32bit computer.

Has anyone encountered a "Camera Failed" message after opening the Camera application? I tried rebooting many times (at least 5-6 times) hoping it was a software glitch, but would not go away. I was testing the GPS navigation (using Google Maps) and my battery drained from 60% to 30% in 20 mins!! Does using navigation or low battery charge screw up the camera?I was sure it was a HW defect thinking I had to return the unit, but when I got home, and plugged into wall charger for a few minutes, I found that camera started working again.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIve noticed that when I send a text and the phone is out of signal, it just says, "FAILED" and calls it a day. I miss my blackberry in this respect, it would wait until it DID have signal and then would automatically resend. Is there any way to set this phone up so it automatically resends when I get signal back? I do get it sometimes where it says that its saving the texts until signal is rereached, however, lets say I get one bar back, well the phone "sees" that Im getting signal, tries to send, and then fails, and then calls it a day....

View 20 Replies View RelatedI had a stock Captivate with Eclair J6. I rooted and installed Rom Manager with ClockWork Recovery. I made a backup of my current ROM.I then installed the Cognition Froyo Beta. I decided I wanted to roll back to my backup ROM but whenever I reboot into Recovery, I no longer get any option of installing a ROM, update.zip, etc. All I get is a shortened menu that says "reboot, clear cache, wipe user data, wipe internal SD card". I also get an error that says signature verification failed.I tried reflashing the recovery area with a new clockwork update but I get the same result when rebooting into recovery. How can I restore my recovery area to a working state with the normal options?

I mostly use the phone with ear buds, not the ones that came with it but a quality pair. Music volume is ok although also lower than my mt3g.
The display area of my SGS has been reduced there is now a black line (approximatively 1 millimeter thick) around the display now anything that should be displayed has been centered (a kind of)i have noticed that after press-holding the HOME BUTTON (to get to the task manager).even when the phone that black border is still there and it look like the screen has been pushed down the display is not now at the same level as the top-cover (or screen cover).I have used the factory reset but nothing has changed.My phone look horrible now.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought my captivate 3 weeks ago from Amazon. It works well overall and I do enjoy a lot. Besides the GPS issue, low in-call volume bothers me all the time. Calls can only be heard clearly in a very quiet place, otherwise I need to keep saying sorry to people on the other end of line. I did search around the forum, no useful information on this subject can be found. So I am curious whether this issue only happens randomly on some handsets or it is a already solved issue which no one even bothers now?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI've had my captivate for about 2 months. Lately, it seems to be dropping almost every single call I make - sometimes 30 seconds in, sometimes a few minutes in. I'm making the calls in my apt in the middle of a big city where I have 5 bars and 3G service.
I can't say for sure but I feel like this really started happening after the JH7 update. I couldn't get my update OTA because my phone wouldn't communicate with the ATT servers, so I did it through the version available on xda of JH7.
This phone is advertised as having simultaneous voice and data multi tasking, but when I'm in a call, i can't access the internet, app store, etc. Web pages never load, and at the app store home page it says "no connection" when you scroll to the bottom. I'm new to android, and hope I'm just missing a setting or something.

With the iphone when I hung up a call it instantly goes back to whatever screen I was on and I can instantly lock the screen. With the captivate it flashes call ended...wait...then call time...wait...then finally out of the call and I can lock the screen.

View 7 Replies View RelatedOkay this is incredibly annoying. My Captivate locks while I am in a call. If I pull the phone away from my ear, the screen will stay blacked out until I press the power button. For a split second, the screen shows locked then automatically transitions to the phone UI. Even if I use speaker phone, the phone eventually locks and I must depress the power button to end the call or dial other numbers. Is this normal for this device? I previously owned the iPhone 3g and the screen would black out, but would come right back on when you moved the phone away from your face or if you just shook the phone a bit.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI dearly dearly miss the the separate call button in my prior phone, that I could access no matter what app or screen I was in. With android, it is huge step backward, where you have to first click the home screen to get to the call button. Please tell me I am overlooking something very simple because I cannot imagine Android missing out such a big part. Or please tell me if there is a better home screen replacement that does exactly what I mentioned above. Will really appreciate any responses.
