When I select the software update option from settings, to see if there are any ATT firmware updates, I get an error message that the phone is unable to connect with ATT servers. I have been getting this error each time I have tried it for the last several weeks.

Every time I try to do a software update from my captivate it tells me....Communication error. Try again later. Does it do this because there is no current updates or because there's an issue with my phone or network?

When i downloaded the update it asked me to install now or later, of course now, then it showed the reboot screen and later it said i had an error with the signature verification that failed and it just totally terminated the update....? My app has been working quite well for some time, and I just tried to update the SDK and DDMS to 0.9.9, and now it won't build.
I've done a search for the CharBuffer class and don't find any matches in my files, but I am using several API's (BUMP, C2DM, Admob). I definitely don't use any of the core-library in my code. If the error message is correct, I just can't quite figure out how to tell which API is the problem without almost wiping out my code base, or starting a new project and copying a few files at a time.
Oh... but the two files at the bottom of the file are missing android-6sdk.properties and android-5sdk.properties. Anyone know where I find them?
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but so far, no joy :).

In something other than a core library. It is likely that you have attempted to include in an application the core library (or a part thereof) from a desktop virtual machine. This will most assuredly not work. At a minimum, it jeopardizes the compatibility of your app with future versions of the platform. It is also often of questionable legality.
If you really intend to build a core library -- which is only appropriate as part of creating a full virtual machine distribution, as opposed to compiling an application -- then use the "--core-library" option to suppress this error message.
If you go ahead and use "--core-library" but are in fact building an application, then be forewarned that your application will still fail to build or run, at some point. Please be prepared for angry customers who find, for example, that your application ceases to function once they upgrade their operating system. You will be to blame for this problem.
If you are legitimately using some code that happens to be in a core package, then the easiest safe alternative you have is to repackage that code. That is, move the classes in question into your own package namespace. This means that they will never be in conflict with core system classes. If you find that you cannot do this, then that is an indication that the path you are on will ultimately lead to pain, suffering, grief, and lamentation.

Now of course I have wiped data/cache before every attempt, and have also checked internal and sdcard storage and there is more then enough room. I have reflashed with the new reflasher tool, so recovery version is 2.0.1.3. Also, I was able to successfully flash a kernel, so I am stumped. Just tried to use ROM manager to flash, same result.
I just set the HTC messaging widget (just the standard guy) to one of my home screens and decided it was not worth having but when I try to remove it (just holding down on it) I get this error message...

View 3 Replies View RelatedSearched the forums on this and found nothing - when I'm recording video after a few minutes I always get a "recording failed" error message. The video recording is there, but I have to start a new recording if I want to continue.
I'm recording at full resolution (not MMS) to the OEM external SD card. The card itself has over half its space left, so I'm not running out of room.
My friend has this mp4 video file which he can play on his droid, and on my other friend's HTC magic. But for some reason, when I try to play it on my phone, I get the message "sorry, this video cannot be played". The file is about 140mb, would that be the issue?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI installed the drivers listed in the topic at the top, I clicked mass storage as my option when i connected the phone, i mounted it by bringing down the drop down menu at the top of the phone (and hitting mount).... but when i connect it to my computer, I get nothing. I used to get an error message saying "There has been a malfunction with your USB device" in the lower right hand corner. I'm running Windows 7 32bit. I also tried on a Windows XP 32bit computer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy GT-17500L (its a Bell Canada phone). After purchasing the phone (which was originally unlocked) I bought a Solo mobile sim-card, which was needed in order to use the phone on my Solo monthly plan. Everything was working fine until I decided to try and update the firmware from 1.5 to 1.6; unfortunately, like a few others from Canada, I didn't properly read the guide and after the upgrade, the phone was "re-locked" and wasn't accepting my sim-card. After going through the guide posted on Pg.4 here (Bell Canada users and Brazilian Users - Galaxy 7500L (notice the L)), with the help of Rasta-Man FB posts and others, I was able to get my phone back to the original firmware, but now I'm having reception issues. The phone will at times pick up the Solo Netowork (I'm still using the original solo sim card), but then drop it after 10 minutes and just say there is no service. When I search for networks, it recognizes the Solo one (I'm guessing b/c of the S.C) but it isn't able to connect.

Has anyone encountered a "Camera Failed" message after opening the Camera application? I tried rebooting many times (at least 5-6 times) hoping it was a software glitch, but would not go away. I was testing the GPS navigation (using Google Maps) and my battery drained from 60% to 30% in 20 mins!! Does using navigation or low battery charge screw up the camera?I was sure it was a HW defect thinking I had to return the unit, but when I got home, and plugged into wall charger for a few minutes, I found that camera started working again.

I miss my blackberry in this respect, it would wait until it DID have signal and then would automatically resend. Is there any way to set this phone up so it automatically resends when I get signal back? I do get it sometimes where it says that its saving the texts until signal is rereached, however, lets say I get one bar back, well the phone "sees" that Im getting signal, tries to send, and then fails, and then calls it a day....

Im here because of my problem with SGA 2.Few days ago I bought ACE 2 and I found few problems with "external_sd".So the problems are
1. When I try to create folder it gives me error "Creation failed"
2. When trying to move folder from internal memory to external sd it gives me error like "Moving failed", while copying goes fine.
3. I can move/copy any file to sd card, but sometimes those files got corrupted, gives me error about memory when trying to open pictures, same problem when saved camera saved photo to sd card. Even getting error when trying to play video.
APK files got corrupted too.
4. When I have moved apps to sd card some while apps work great, but after some time cant launch apps because it gives me error about that app doesnt exist.
I tried formatting sd card with pc and android.
Factory reset.
Repartition to same firmware with Odin.
Wipe cache, wipe data.
I dunno what causes those error, bugs, glitches. Is it phone or android sytem?
Tried many sd card and always got same errors. But when I mounted mine sd card to another phone it worked perfect.
I had a stock Captivate with Eclair J6. I rooted and installed Rom Manager with ClockWork Recovery. I made a backup of my current ROM.I then installed the Cognition Froyo Beta. I decided I wanted to roll back to my backup ROM but whenever I reboot into Recovery, I no longer get any option of installing a ROM, update.zip, etc. All I get is a shortened menu that says "reboot, clear cache, wipe user data, wipe internal SD card". I also get an error that says signature verification failed.I tried reflashing the recovery area with a new clockwork update but I get the same result when rebooting into recovery. How can I restore my recovery area to a working state with the normal options?

Given both these situations, I'd like to know if there was a way to increase or change the call failed/ended tone. Problem is, I can't hear it.

2)Save it to your SD Card ROOT (not in any folders)
3)Open up a file manager on your phone (Download ASTRO File Manager from the marketplace..if you don't have a file manager..)
4)Find the 'InstantRoot.apk' file.
5)Run it.
6)It will say it's been successful
Ok, so on step 4, I am opening ASTRO, clicking InstantRoot, clicking Open App Manager (other displayed option is Browse file), clicking Install (then Install again). It then displays 'Application installed'. However, I get a notification stating 'Install Root failed / Root access was not acquired'. What am I doing wrong? More info if required Firmware = 1.5

View 3 Replies View RelatedIf your download fully cancels in the middle, do not resume the download. When you try to resume - the phone will think you want to resume installation [it thinks the download is complete] and will update the phone with the partial firmware download. For those phones that were bricked, that is what was said happened to them - myself included. Now, why would the update not realize the firmware isn't complete and just abort the update is beyond me. Many of us ended up with paperweights from that. Had to go to AT&T to replace the phone last night.
