HTC Droid Eris :: Facebook Vs Facebook For HTC Sense / Two Separate Apps?

May 18, 2010

Like everyone who's updated to 2.1, I'm experiencin the same bugs with Facebook (i.e. all my FB contacts show up in my dialer and my txt msgs). Anyways, I was toolin around in Accounts & Sync under Settings. Right now, the accounts I have set up are Google, Weather, and Facebook for HTC Sense. When I click Add an Account, there's something called just "Facebook," in addition to the "Facebook for HTC Sense."I've always known there were two Facebook apps (or whatever you wanna call them) on my phone, cause when I want to share a pic I take, I can do it using either "Facebook" or "Facebook for HTC Sense." I always share the picture using "Facebook" because it allows me to post a comment as well.Anyways, getting back to Accounts & Sync, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on how these two apps differ. Maybe if I choose to sync the "Facebook" account as opposed to "Facebook for HTC Sense," that could solve some of these issues we're all having? I have no idea, but I'm hesitant to do anything for fear of clogging up my phone's contact list with Facebook friends.

HTC Droid Eris :: Can't Connect To Facebook / Can Connect To Facebook For HTC Sense

Jul 25, 2010

I have the HTC Droid Eris. Before the 2.1 update, I just had Facebook sync, but afterwards, it was synced with Facebook for HTC Sense. My problem is that it won't let me sync with just Facebook.I still want my contacts to sync with my phone, because I like the facebook pictures on there. Personally, I like Facebook sync better, because I don't like having all my Facebook contacts on my phone, because the numbers show up twice (number that I have on my phone plus the number that my friends have on Facebook). To prevent that from happening, I would rather have my phone connected to Facebook only and not Facebook for HTC Sense.I thought I could do it, but it won't let me even click on Facebook--like, nothing pops up or anything.I wasn't sure if it was my phone, so I took my dad's Eris and tried to do the same, it works fine on his phone, but I can't get mine to do sync with facebook whatsoever. Thank you very much.

HTC Desire :: Facebook Directory / Facebook For HTC Sense

Jun 22, 2010

My HTC Desire's Facebook directory lists 205 friends for my Facebook, while in reality I have 207 (and Facebook for Android app of course shows them all, too)I'm not quite sure why or how 2 of them have gone missing, but I think one went when I messed a bit up, merged 2 contacts on my phone and started removing information from that contact, so it in the end had only 1 number and 1 facebook friend linked to it. Ever since I haven't been able to see the friend whose contact/link I removed in Facebook directory.I've tried uninstalling Facebook for Android to access Facebook for HTC Sense, but apparently it can't be completely uninstalled - only the update(s) for it, and the cache/data can be uninstalled for what I can tell.

So I've uninstalled it's updates, I've cleared it data/cache - and I've cleared all the cache/data from Facebook for HTC Sense too.I've removed my phone-linked Facebook account, too, with no luck.No matter how many times I try re-syncing or refreshing, the 2 contacts are still missing. One new contact that I added as my friend today appeared normally, though.Any ideas how to fix this? It's annoying when I can't link 1 contact to her Facebook, when I have pretty much everyone else linked to theirs.

HTC Incredible :: Facebook For HTC Sense Vs Regular Facebook

May 12, 2010

Well, I seem to either A) have a problem or B) it's a problem just in general.I have Facebook installed, and there's obviously Facebook for HTC Sense. I want to sync my Facebook account and only that. I don't personally care to use the Sense inspired widgets because I like my streams separate.Anyway, I go into the Accounts menu in settings and removed the Facebook for Sense account and tried to add a new account, but whenever I click Facebook, it does absolutely nothing.I don't understand what's going on. If anyone has any clue, I'd love to hear it!

HTC Droid Eris :: Syncing Facebook For HTC Vs Plain Facebook And Memory

May 22, 2010

Has anyone figured out the difference between syncing Facebook for HTC Sense in the account syncing section vs. plain Facebook? I am trying to figure out if the one I'm using (Facebok for HTC Sense) is using up too much memory.

My phone memory is around 33% whereas my husband's memory is 64%! He has very few contacts and I'm wondering if the syncing with Facebook is taking up all my phone memory (vs SD Card memory which is fine).

HTC Droid Eris :: Facebook 4 Android Vs Facebook 4 HTC

Jun 13, 2010

I am probably reposting, but i can't find the exact answer im looking for (if you know the thread, please link it).

Facebook for HTC Sense is a POS. We all know that. But what is killing me is that I can set up a "sync" my HTC Eris with Fb for HTC Sense (that doesnt actually sync) but not for the standard Facebook app.

The HTC Sense Facebook App does a terrible job of syncing contacts w/ the phone, so I am trying to do it thru the Facebook for Android App.

I) Should I just keep on trying with the HTC App even tho its not fully working or syncing?

When I go to Menu> Settings> Accounts&sync>Add account (after removing sycing w/ FB for HTC Sense) I can add an account for: Facebook -or- Facebook for HTC Sense.

But, when I try to click on Facebook, nothing happens. Fb for HTC still works and I can add the account to that, but I wont get the contacts again. (I think).

II) What is going on w/ my Facebook for Android app? (I have updated it, too).

HTC Droid Eris :: Facebook Apps Cant See Photo Albums From Friends

May 5, 2010

When I try to use Sense to view photo albums for one friend, it shows that they have zero photo albums. The official facebook app does the same. If I use the browser to visit her profile, I can see her numerous photo albums easily, but damnit! I want the software to work like it's designed and this little bug seems so bizarre. As far as I can tell, the missing albums bug only applies to this one friend. I would be able to easily overlook the bug except that one friend is my fiancee.

HTC EVO 4G :: Somehow Lost Facebook For HTC Sense

Aug 5, 2010

I have no idea how I managed this, but Facebook for HTC Sense isn't showing up anywhere and I wanted to sync my contacts and photos.I've been using the regular Facebook app and not the Sense version because I lost it somewhere along the way.I don't know if I can reinstall or if it's hiding somewhere. It does show up in "all applications", but it's not there in the "accounts and sync" menu.It also doesn't show up in my Fb Applications account when I log on through a computer. It only shows "Facebook for Android."I can't access an icon, I can't seem to access it at all.I don't think this is Froyo specific because I've had this issue since I got this phone (the week it came out).Anyone have any idea, short of factory reset, how to fix this?

General :: Facebook For HTC Sense Not Working?

Jun 27, 2013

Last week I cleared the data on Facebook for HTC Sense, Facebook app and Instagram app on my Wildfire S. After that I couldn't get Instagram to connect to Facebook and thought I'd done something wrong.. Last night I got a new phone (2nd hand - Incredible S) and I still can't get Instagram to connect with Facebook. I keep getting "authorize htc sense for facebook" in a triangle at the top when I try and it seems to go part the way (logging in, choosing to allow Instagram to share things on my behalf) then it goes to a "page cannot be displayed" type page and won't go any further.

I'm signed into HTC Sense (same email) and tried to sync Facebook but the only part that won't sync is "sync live feed" which I'm guessing is linked in with why Instagram isn't connecting.

I'm sure this isn't news to any of you veterans, but this is my first android device so please bare with me. I'm using the facebook app and have noticed that neither the app itself or the widget show the actual facebook live feed or provide a way to access it....

Of course my next thought was "well what if I just use the facebook page in a browser window". Turns out that's not as simple as I thought! Apparently facebook not only has a mobile page, it also has a "touch" page that it likes to route you to. Neither the mobile or the touch facebook pages have a way to access the live feed either....

HTC Desire :: Facebook For HTC Sense No Updates Shown

HTC Hero :: Facebook For HTC Sense - Login Issue

Jul 22, 2010

I'm trying to connect my Hero (2.1) to Facebook, I can log in to the Facebook app (latest version) with no problems, but when I try and log into Facebook for HTC Sense (in settings->accounts) I get an error telling me that the service is currently unavailable. Several people posting online have fixed this issue by changing Facebook privacy settings; but as far as I can see my settings permit the application. I have removed FB for HTC Sense from the Facebook Applications page and when I attempt to login it reappears there with permissions allowed but the phone repeats the unavailable message. I have tried logging out of the Facebook app first but this makes no difference. I have just rooted my phone and installed VillainROM 12, but I don't think this issue directly relates to the rooting. Feel free to redirect me to the rooting subforum if I'm wrong.

Android : Facebook For HTC Sense Stops Unexpectedly

I have the EVO and I recently added a new Facebook contact. When I go into people>online directories>facebook he shows up in my friends list (which is great that it synched up). When I select the contact, his details pop up fine (again great). However, when I select the refresh icon at the bottom (which is supposed to pull up his wall) I get the error message "The application Facebook for HTC Sense (process com.htc.socialnetwork.facebook) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." The only option I have is to select "force close" in the error window. This seems to be the only contact this is happening with, so I'm not sure what the problem is. I have tried logging out and back into Facebook for HTC Sense, but that has not solved the issue.

HTC Desire :: Facebook Contact Sync - Not Sense One - Issue

Sep 16, 2010

ALright, so I just went from the original samsung galaxy to the htc desire and one of the first things I tried was to sync contacts with facebook. I only want existing contacts to be synced so I chose not to use the facebook for htc sense app as it will sync all facebook users and add them to my contact list (correct me if I'm wrong). So I tried to sync with facebook for android but nothing happens when I chose the account. I get prompted to sign into the app, which I do, I get into the app like normal, but no contacts are synced. Returning to the accounts settings page I cant even select the facebook. It is there to add but when I hit it nothing happens. I did sync with the official twitter app with no problem which I noticed with the samsung galaxy (running froyo) should be the same procedure. Kinda strange issue if you ask me... anyone else encountering this problem?
