View 1 Replies View RelatedHaven't heard much lately regarding this topic, I hope people don't let Samsung off the hook. We need to keep the pressure applied until something is delivered. What bothers me the most is, if the Epic has the GPS fix, why not the rest of us? Goes to prove that the GPS issue might still be being worked on and Samsung/Sprint are just trying to calm fears.
View 14 Replies View RelatedCan anyone explain this? Ive heard that there is a difference between the JF6 firmware (which is what I have) and the JH3 or JH2 firmwares. Does one offer better performance? Which is newer?

Captivate Root
work on an updated firmware?
I seem to be having problems getting access into recovery mode. It's a brand new Captivate and it came preloaded with Firmware 2.1-update1I tried variations on this, but from everything I've heard, this should work just fine: Hold both volume buttons while powering on and keep holding the power button 3 seconds after the ATT logo appears (before it power cycles itself). Nothing triggers, and it just boots up normally.I've also tried the "One Click Root/UnRoot" method, with no luck.Has ATT gotta more aggressive with locking us out?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I've been tinkering around with Odin and flashing to the many firmwares floating around- the latest is the JFM6 i9000 firmware.. Which also included flashing the CSC and kernel..
My question is, since I flashed the csc and kernel, how do I flash back to the stock JF6 rom that came with the phone? Just the pit and .tar (pda)? I have the firmware and the pit file.. just wondering what is entailed because of flashing the additional csc and kernel files as well.
How to make camera up & down instead of sideways?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo after flashing to the JH2 firmware, I noticed that the battery is reaching high temperatures during voice calls - Before the firmware flash, the phone would not get above 100 degrees during a voice call. After 8 minutes on a voice call, the phone is reaching upwards of 110 degrees.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust posted on XDA by designgears : I897ucjh7 - not froyo, - xda-developers. Looks like it's the final test firmware before the official release. Word from those that have flashed is that they are getting a GPS lock, Indoors. Also, it Looks like updates to the phone will be done with Kies, not OTA. Also has been said that it's pretty quick and the lag issue has been addressed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFrom reading some reviews, it looks like the camera on the Captivate kinda sucks in anything but great lighting. And, even in great lighting, the camcorder picks up way too much noise and has wind noise even when there is no wind. For you guys who got yours early, is that really the case? Did some of the early reviewers get bad units?
I'm really disappointed that the camera isn't top-of-the-line. It seems that Apple is the only company on the planet willing to not skip any corners with their hardware. Can't one, single Android maker just make a phone without the compromises? I love Android, but no one seems willing to step up and make some hardware worthy of it. Arg.. I'm so sick of that boring-ass, restrictive iOS, but I may have to get it anyway just because I'm not willing to carry around and Android phone and a Flip video camera at the same time.
Pls advise me the best unofficial firmware update to download. Froyo based.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst, is there a good reason the captivate does not have a camera flash (aside from the devs thinking the night mode worked 'well enough')?
If not: I strongly suggest we get a huge number of people to say they would be interested in buying a flashlight/camera flash add-on for the phone were someone to develop one. After we get a big enough number, we'll kindly forward it to several companies. I took my phone out last night for halloween, and was quite disappointed with the night quality. I'm sure something like this would be profitable at ~$6, but I would pay $10-15 to cover research costs/etc.
My camera stopped working at the worst time just when I needed to take some pics at a dinner today. Has anyone encountered a "Camera Failed" message after opening the Camera application? I tried rebooting many times (at least 5-6 times) hoping it was a software glitch, but would not go away. I was testing the GPS navigation (using Google Maps) and my battery drained from 60% to 30% in 20 mins!! Does using navigation or low battery charge screw up the camera?I was sure it was a HW defect thinking I had to return the unit, but when I got home, and plugged into wall charger for a few minutes, I found that camera started working again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed how poorly aligned the camera shots are when using Google Goggles? When I click that button to take a picture it's NEVER lined up like it was before. It's even more obvious if I use the crop feature.I can point at a logo and crop it perfectly and hold the phone absolutely still and press the button. When it shows the processing screen it looks like the camera shot is a couple inches below where it showed on the previous camera screen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedPhone gets to 15% (which is plenty of battery IMO) and I can't take a pic. Get in a car wreck and need to take some photos? oh no 15% battery because its the end of the day and you forgot your charger. Need to snap a pic of a deadly snake that just bit your dog to take with you to the vet's office? can't low battery. These 2 events happened to me (wasn't driving though). View 7 Replies View RelatedJust noticed today all pictures in my /Camera/DCIM directory are gone, a whole 2GB+ worth. Has this happened to anyone? It hasn't moved elsewhere because I also noticed 2GB more space freed up on the internal SD card. Luckily I backed up 1.7GB+ of it recently. Just a warning for you guys to keep constant backup!
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe only thing that I have been seeing is that when I take a picture from my phone and save it to my background, I have to crop it and then it gets a little zoomed in and the resolution is not the same as it was. There a way I can download or photoshop my images so its the right resolution for my captivate?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy wife and I have had our captivates for just over a month and have loved the device despite the few minor issues that we've experienced with them. I check the boards daily to see all the latest, but didn't see anything on one issue that i am experiencing.
When using the camera to take pictures of my infant son, if i try to take a picture, then another and sometimes a third (infants are hard to keep still for a picture) without closing the camera application, a few times i haven't been able to press the take picture button and have noticed a "lock" icon on the camera screen, then can not exit the camera app at all and need to power off the phone, then bring it back up. Does anyone know what causes this and if it's something that i am doing unknowingly when bobbling the phone trying to positing him for the picture?
Has anyone else noticed that when there you have a low battery, I guess under 10%, the phone will not let you open then camera? I've tried to open the camera, and a message pops us saying "Low Battery" and then the application automatically closes itself. Any way around this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHas anyone been able to get the camera to focus on small items?
