So for some reason, lately every .apk file i download onto my phone shows up asking me what program i want to use to initiate it. i was wondering how to change the default setting back to the original so it doesnt give me the following options to run apk files (cause i cant even open the file with my gameboid and snesoid)

View 2 Replies View Relatedi bought two samsung galaxy s and both have their own individual issues mine has the issue of turning off by itself which i found previous post about but the other one which im posting about consistently changes the background back to the default bubble blue live wallpaper, would anyone know if this is a app issue or a hardware issue with the phone becuase i wanna make sure i go back and exchange it, if thats the issue, if its something that can be fixed then please give me the solution because i really dont wanna exchange it and setup the phone all over again for my girlfriend.

One thing I can't figure out is how to disable the default email viewer? I am getting 2 notifications every time a email comes in. I get one in my gmail launcher and another in the notification bar. The one in the notification bar takes me to the email viewer that is blue and black and is the one I want to turn off.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a huge issue with email. I successfully added my Google Apps email account using POP. The client does indeed download the emails, though very slowly, but the main issue I have is that as soon as I manually check for new emails or the Captivate automatically does it (I set it to 15 minutes intervals), all the emails in the inbox on the phone disappears. After much investigating, it turns out that all emails that was already downloaded prior to a reload, were sent to Trash in Gmail. So when I log in online, every message that was originally downloaded to the phone, was now found in Trash. The only workaround I have found in order to keep the emails on the phone, is to delete them instantly. That way they remain in the Deleted Messages until I manually remove them.
So my question is: does the default email client work like it should at all or should I replace it with something. And if so, with what? It's a shame that a new phone such like this have issues with such a basic task.
Before I knew better I looked at the default voicemail number and said "well that's not my number." and promptly changed it. Does anyone know what the default number should be? Is it the same for all phones or should I take it to the ATT store and have them fix it? Will a factory reset solve my problems?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm afraid to root my phone and I understand that's the only way to get rid of the default music app on my captivate. If I can't get rid of it, is there a way to make it a lame duck and set another player as my default player.
Here's why:
I recently installed Playerpro which has all the features I need in a music player but when I press the headset buttons (which I need for my daily walks) it automatically starts my default music player, which I never use. Granted this may be in an issue with the app as Mixzing and others don't have this issue but is there anyway to set defaults on my droid.
Is there a way to set the default calendar as the Google calender? Right now, every time I add something to the calender, the default option is "My Calendar" but I want to switch it to the Google one. Is that possible? I'm using a Captivate if it matters.

Currently, the stock application is launched, and since this application is short to worthless, I want the Gmail client to open instead of it so that I don't need to add a short cut to it and at the same time end up with a static button that I will never use.

I don't like that, when the names are different, it defaults to listing the contact under Facebook name. I like the stock big buttons and text especially in the car, and like the stock notification bar controls. Just looking for a good reason to upgrade if there is one. If the stock EQ was easier to get to quickly maybe I wouldn't even consider anything else. What do you think?

But it always wants to add it to that one, not google. Any ideas how to change this? View 3 Replies View RelatedOkay so here is another strange thing I noticed with the update.2 of the 3 phones that got the update now have a little home icon on the bottom of one of the touchwiz screens when you are in the edit mode. This page with the home icon can now be moved to whereever you want it in the positioning of the 1-7 screens you have and when you click on the "home" key at the very bottom it will go to that screen. Previously there was no home key and your home screen was either the middle or far left screen depending on the number of screens you had.

By default the wi-fi setting is set to go to sleep (and use cellular data instead) when the screen is off, which will most likely happen while you are streaming music as well as other things. To change it so the wi-fi never turns off, to into the phone's menu -> wireless and network -> wi-fi settings -> tap the menu button and select advanced which has an option for wi-fi sleep policy that had been defaulted to sleep "when screen turns off". There you have the option to change it to "never" or "never when plugged in".

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor about a month or so I bought an SonyEricsson X10 Mini. I was very satisfied with it, untill I discovered an major problem with the included webbrowser. As some webpages run smooth and well, most pages shows up as an pink box with an error message from the browser itself. The message is about the rendering of the page, and that some lines in the html-code have an error. Now most of the webpages on the web do have some minor errors, but it shouldn't prevent the browser to display the page. (for instance, browsing this forum with Internet Explorer it says in the downleft-corner "Finished, but with errors on the page", if I translate directly from Norwegian)
The box even appears at Sony Ericssons Update page for Wisepilot Navigation system. I got an message from the app, telling me to upgrade to a newer version. Clicking the upgrade-button opens the webbrowser, and this time I can only see raw HTML-code as the document. So what is it with my phone. I know more people have the same problem, as I work for an telecom-store that sells this phone here in Norway. Another customer called me, telling me about the same problem.
Does anybody know what that could be wrong with it? I have tried to Factory-reset it many times, even do the "Forced restart" method to ensure a clean start-up.
