Samsung Captivate : Calls Dropping - Cheek Hitting Keypad

Nov 1, 2010

My wife has a Captivate. She often holds it to her ear with her shoulder like you do a traditional phone (no easy feat with a flat rectangle). She keeps having issues with calls dropping, and we think it's that when she moves her head, the phone wakes up the keypad and then her cheek hits the "end call" button. Is there any way to make the keypad totally lock during a call, that simple movement won't reactiviate it?

HTC Droid Eris : When Making Calls - My Ear Keeps Hitting Keypad

Jun 23, 2010

I've had this annoying problem with dialing a number, placing the phone up to my face and suddenly finding my call being placed on hold as the phone is attempting to dial another number. What's happening, you say? Well, as the phone is being placed up to my ear, my ear is inadvertently touching the keypad of the phone and dialing. I thought the phone was supposed to automatically shut off the screen during a live call so as to prevent accidental dialing, no?

Samsung Fascinate :: Factory Reset / Root - Dropping Calls

Nov 10, 2010

My wife's phone needs to be returned because of continuous dropped calls. I did root her phone, but that's about. Will doing a factory reset be fine or do I have to un-root before returning? Also, does anyone know if doing a factory reset would improve the reception? Seems VZW hasn't been able to resolve the issue.

Samsung Captivate :: Dropping Almost Every Call?

Oct 22, 2010

I've had my captivate for about 2 months. Lately, it seems to be dropping almost every single call I make - sometimes 30 seconds in, sometimes a few minutes in. I'm making the calls in my apt in the middle of a big city where I have 5 bars and 3G service.

I can't say for sure but I feel like this really started happening after the JH7 update. I couldn't get my update OTA because my phone wouldn't communicate with the ATT servers, so I did it through the version available on xda of JH7.

I did a quick forum search, and didn't turn up much.I'm wondering if anyone has problems dropping calls, or reception issues with their phones.Amid the Antennagate scandal of iphone, I've decided not to upgrade my older gen iphone for the new one, despite (finally) being offered a free case. I've been looking into android, and especially the EVO, and I'm strongly considering switching if they ever come back in stock.According to high lord emperor of the universe, aka steve jobs, all smartphones have antenna problems.

HTC Desire :: Dropping Calls When Switching From HSDPA To 3G?

Apr 26, 2010

I noticed my phone has a tendency to drop calls when switching from HSDPA to 3G. My phone dropped calls about 5 times today, so I thought I'd do a little test... I rang someone (display showing 3G) then refreshed my GoogleMail app (display went to H) to see if the call stayed connected... well... it dropped the call. I did the exact same thing again... dropped the call. I tried this about 5 or 6 times using different apps to basically put my phone in HSDPA mode and it is dropping the call when switching between 3G and HSDPA...

Nexus :: All Of A Sudden Dropping Calls Consistantly

Sep 8, 2010

I have no clue what just happened but my phone is acting like it did before the Froyo update. Dropping calls halfway through while still showing full bars. Ive dropped out 5 times today and 3 times yesterday.

The phone has been working flawlessly for the past few months and now its become horrible. I cant see how downloding a couple apps have done anything to warrant this. If anything, the apps are games and a few other apps being updated.

Now Im on AT&T and I dont want this to turn into an "its your network" thing, because it isnt. My buddy on verizon with his incredible said hes also been experiencing dropped calls in the last two days (the known too well "beep") and he said hes been fine before this.

HTC Droid Eris :: Phone Dropping Calls / Low Signals Indoor

Nov 20, 2009

I had Verizon about 2 years ago before I switched to AT&T for the iPhone. I can't remember ever having issues with dropped calls before, and that's what made me come back to Verizon from AT&T. However, since I'm back I'm having all kinds of trouble with dropped calls. I'm dropping 1-2 calls a day. Also, I find I'm rarely seeing more than 1-2 bars of service, especially indoors. What gives? I know Verizon has the best coverage in my area, so is it the phone, or just my phone?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Dropping Calls In Your House Due To Poor Signal Strength

Dec 4, 2009

I was having issues with constant dropped calls from my house, which is in an area according to the Sprint coverage map that should have excellent coverage. I went to my Sprint store, which is a repair center, and they told me to go to menu>settings>Wireless controls>Mobile network settings>Roaming, and switch from Automatic to Sprint only. I did this, and have not dropped a call yet. The tech told me that depending on exactly where you are and where the nearest Sprint tower is compared to the nearest say Verizon tower, the phone will continuously try to switch between the two towers for the best signal when set to Automatic, and that can cause dropped calls, static calls etc. Ever since I switched this setting I have not dropped one single call or gotten any static, even with 0-1 bars for signal strength. He told me only use Automatic if you are in an area where your phone has no service due to no nearby Sprint tower.

Samsung Captivate :: Can't Make - Receive Calls Or Texts

Oct 27, 2010

Just got my refurbished Captivate in the mail today, charged and activated it as per the instructions. It worked just fine for about 30 minutes or so. I put on a few apps and showed them off to my roommate, and things were going fine. Then all of a sudden I couldn't send or receive phone calls, nor was I able to get/send text messages. With no pattern or logic I would go from 3g to edge to neither of the two symbols (just full signal strength) to the international no sign where my full bars just were. If I typed and tried to send a text while the no sign was visible it would send and receive texts as soon as I got signal back, but that would only last a few minutes.

I've tried hard and soft resets and restoring the phone to factory settings, all to no avail, as well as checking my message center number. I've looked around in the forums and can't seem to find anyone who has had this problem, and I was hoping someone would have some advice or could point me to a thread that I may have missed. I'd talk to AT&T but chat hours are over and I have to be up early for work tomorrow and need my phone for that, so I'm not sure I can ask customer service tomorrow beforehand.

Samsung Captivate :: Phone Calls Not Taking Priority Over Other Sounds?

Sep 14, 2010

I have looked and cannot find the answer to this puzzle. The other day my wife came home and said that while she was talking on the phone she got a text message. She has a "Joe Dirt" sound notification for it and said that it began to play loud in the phone while she was talking. The other person could not hear it but she could. Today I am using RingDroid to make a ring tone and I get a call. The screen switches over to answer or not answer with no other options meanwhile the song is still playing. I figure if I answer the phone the call will over ride the music... wrong! As soon as I answer the music stops in the speaker and starts playing through the ear piece really loud. I can barely hear the other person through the music so I put them on hold while I try to navigate back to ringdroid which has vanished so I can push stop. While I'm trying to get back to it, it finally stops because it was set to play for 30 seconds. I go back to the call and ask if they heard that and they say no. This has to be fixed. What do I need to do?

Samsung I7500 :: Bell Phone Dropping 3G

Jun 17, 2010

Hey fellow Galaxy users on the Bell network. Are any of you having problems with your phone dropping 3G and the only way to get it back on is to reboot your phone?

I'm running Galaxo 1.6.3.3 but even when I was running Samsung's 1.6 release at least twice a week it'll just drop the 3G signal. As far as I can tell there's no rhyme or reason for it. I'll notice that I haven't heard any notifications in a while (usually if I hear it tell me that I've got an email I just check it on the computer I'm on) and when I check it the signal is dropped. There's no pattern for it, I've sent texts or made phone calls and it worked fine, 1/2 hour later....nothing.

Just wondering if it's just me or if others are having the same problem. Maybe if it's just me I can try to swing a deal with Bell for a Legend (like the Galaxy but can't stand the official support (Drakaz, on the other hand, is my hero)).

Samsung Moment :: T9 Using A Bluetooth Keypad

Aug 18, 2010

I know I know, texting while doing other things (we all know what I'm talking about) isn't safe. However, one thing I miss about the flip phone that I ditched a month ago is that I could text completely without looking by using T9. I was really good at it. With the full QWERTY on my Samsung Moment. I have to look, and sometimes, it's not safe.I had a thought the other night. Is there a way to pair a bluetooth number pad with a phone and use it for T9? I assume the number pad would have to be used upside-down (keypads are flipped from phones), but it would work wonderfully. I'm sure some software would be needed, but I'm no application developer, so I don't know where to start. Any thoughts?
