I have had a lot of issues lately with dropping calls and it started since I installed Cyanogen. I'll be on the phone chatting away and it just becomes quiet and I'm not on the phone anymore with that phone. Or it will actually vibrate and I'll be kicked off the phone. I'm still running Cyanogen Rc3 if that matters.

I can't remember ever having issues with dropped calls before, and that's what made me come back to Verizon from AT&T. However, since I'm back I'm having all kinds of trouble with dropped calls. I'm dropping 1-2 calls a day. Also, I find I'm rarely seeing more than 1-2 bars of service, especially indoors. What gives? I know Verizon has the best coverage in my area, so is it the phone, or just my phone?

Calls drop when I'm talking to someone and the person on the other end of the phone fades in and out when I'm on a call.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI noticed my phone has a tendency to drop calls when switching from HSDPA to 3G. My phone dropped calls about 5 times today, so I thought I'd do a little test... I rang someone (display showing 3G) then refreshed my GoogleMail app (display went to H) to see if the call stayed connected... well... it dropped the call. I did the exact same thing again... dropped the call. I tried this about 5 or 6 times using different apps to basically put my phone in HSDPA mode and it is dropping the call when switching between 3G and HSDPA...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have no clue what just happened but my phone is acting like it did before the Froyo update. Dropping calls halfway through while still showing full bars. Ive dropped out 5 times today and 3 times yesterday.
The phone has been working flawlessly for the past few months and now its become horrible. I cant see how downloding a couple apps have done anything to warrant this. If anything, the apps are games and a few other apps being updated.
Now Im on AT&T and I dont want this to turn into an "its your network" thing, because it isnt. My buddy on verizon with his incredible said hes also been experiencing dropped calls in the last two days (the known too well "beep") and he said hes been fine before this.
My wife's phone needs to be returned because of continuous dropped calls. I did root her phone, but that's about. Will doing a factory reset be fine or do I have to un-root before returning? Also, does anyone know if doing a factory reset would improve the reception? Seems VZW hasn't been able to resolve the issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife has a Captivate. She often holds it to her ear with her shoulder like you do a traditional phone (no easy feat with a flat rectangle). She keeps having issues with calls dropping, and we think it's that when she moves her head, the phone wakes up the keypad and then her cheek hits the "end call" button. Is there any way to make the keypad totally lock during a call, that simple movement won't reactiviate it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was having issues with constant dropped calls from my house, which is in an area according to the Sprint coverage map that should have excellent coverage. I went to my Sprint store, which is a repair center, and they told me to go to menu>settings>Wireless controls>Mobile network settings>Roaming, and switch from Automatic to Sprint only. I did this, and have not dropped a call yet. The tech told me that depending on exactly where you are and where the nearest Sprint tower is compared to the nearest say Verizon tower, the phone will continuously try to switch between the two towers for the best signal when set to Automatic, and that can cause dropped calls, static calls etc. Ever since I switched this setting I have not dropped one single call or gotten any static, even with 0-1 bars for signal strength. He told me only use Automatic if you are in an area where your phone has no service due to no nearby Sprint tower.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust my experience noted here. Got the X last week. I had ongoing problems with 3G signal dropping to 1x regardless of how strong a signal area I was in. Phone also got VERY warm when accessing data. I'd classify it as hot.
I got a replacement today. Very impressed with the quick delivery. Unfortunately the 3G problem remains on this one (it's actually worse) and it gets just as hot. I think there's a real problem generally with the device. I really loved the solid build and phone design. Hopefully a SW fix can eventually solve this for you all.
I'm a reformed iPhone (3Gs then 4) user and have switched to the EVO and will hang out over on those forums. Good luck to you all here.

I'm on my third 'X'.Both returns have been for the identical reason.3G drops seemingly at random and then hangs on 1x for 'x' amount of time before it reverts back.Yes I can manually kick start the thing by going into airplane mode but this is ridiculous.I've tried all the other band-aid approaches; hard reset, *228/1, *228/2, etc.Nothing fixes the problem.This happens way to often to be considered a fluke.I can not afford to have this happen while in navigation mode as it renders that function useless.I really need to know from someone this in fact is A) identified and B) being addressed by Moto and/or VZW. If I can't I'm afraid I will have to return this and leave VZW.It's too bad as the phone is perfect except for this very annoying bug. Does anyone have solid information on this?
View 40 Replies View RelatedI really enjoy this phone, but unfortunately I keep running into odd battery issues. I fully charged the phone while sleeping last night and now the phone is down to 40% with almost no usage (10 hours). I checked the battery manager and it said the display has used 94% of the battery which is extremely odd, seeing as how I haven't really used the phone at all today. The brightness is set at 40% and screen timeout to 30 seconds. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I suspect it may be a rogue application, unfortunately the Droid X does not show what applications are eating the battery in the manager.

View 14 Replies View Relatedi've had my droidx since it came out. Its always worked great. but for the last two weeks or so it has been VERY annoying. App for chatting like AIN or trillian do not connect long enough or well enough to talk to people. My service is also lagging as well as wifi. And my market is very very bad with loading. Any suggestions? I do not have an automatic task killer. And i do use juicedefender, but on days i leave it off i have the same problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI need some help here if you can. I was running the latest cyanogen rom and it was running pretty smooth. Then I tried to change the theme without flashing clockwork!! ( duh, I forgot!!! )now I'm stuck on the moto logo!! I tried wiping the whole phone, factory reset, my backups , battery pull, and its still stuck on the moto logo. I got my phone to boot up now! I was just getting a lil frustrated, thats all. I think the phone needed to take a lil break too!

I used ROM Manager to flash and I'd like to continue using it to install themes. Is that a good idea? Is it always necessary (or recommended) to wipe all when flashing new themes?
View 9 Replies View Relatedfirst of all i went and downloaded CM 6.0.0 but i'm guessing the flavored ice arent made for this yet? So i went to download 5.0.7.1 and wiped data/cache..but when i rebooted, it didnt go to the setup, and i couldnt set up my gmail/and had no market or anything. So i went and tried to use rom manager to download 5.0.7.1 and see if it changed cause i used clockwork before. but its not even in there, just 5.0.8. When i downloaded 6.0.0 it worked and i had my gmail setup but i just didnt find the flavored ice for 6.0.0.

When the ROM loaded, there was no Droid virtual keyboard in any of my apps. But Cyanogen looks cool and I'd like to give it another try. If I wipe my data, does that mean I have to reinstall all my apps? If I wipe my data, will it still appear if I restore my backed-up ROMs?

I only have used sprecovery so this whole clockwork recovery is confusing. Says I need it but if I don't like cyanogens how hard is it to revert back to my adamz smoked glass that i have now with sprecovery? Don't even want to try and tackle the titanium backup thing.
Does Cyanogens come with busybox? Will I still have wifi tether and a kernel that supports it? What is this thing about having to install google apps in some special way as i read they are left out?
What I am looking for is all the cyanogen goodness (the ability to flip the phone and have screen rotate 180 degrees)with a smoked glass theme, stock theme or green theme, wifi tether(a must), moving wallpaper,overclocking and the ability to load my custom boot animations.
I like my Adamz smoked glass rom a lot but want to be able to rotate the phone and have the screen change. I have everything listed above except phone rotation now.
I have not had a single problem running Adamz rom or any issues with sprecovery. I can use these with ease so I am hoping someone can point me to an easy guide to make the change and answer a few of these questions.
