View 14 Replieswhen I first got my captivate, I was pretty impressed with battery life. I got 7.5hrs of in-n-out of service, taking pics, playing a bit and it cost 15-20% of my battery. I played for 1hr solid and it took 10%. Not bad. I then had myself a marketplace orgy and downloaded a shit-load of apps figuring I would check them all out later. Most I knew I would want eventually. I think I found a bug in photo bucket this way. I noticed my phone would *idle* using 10%/hr of battery. That is horrible. I found through process of elimination it was the photo bucket app, and the battery usage? not CPU, no, it was the 3G radio. It was probably attempting to login (w/o credentials as I had not confided it yet) repeatedly. Once I uninstalled it (it would auto-start even after being killed) my battery went back to staying almost flat while idle. Far, photo bucket (at least configured) is a problem app for battery usage. everything else I've tried seems ok so far.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I painfully watched my Cappy's battery door crushed under my friend's car as one of their "harmless" joke. Now there's not a single site on the internet selling these doors, and I'm desperate. I found dummy/display Captivates though, so I was just wondering if anyone knows if the dummy battery door can replace the REAL door by any chance?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Android. I recently was an iPhone fan but thought that Android was a better alternative to iPhone. So anyway, I have a few questions about the Captivate. Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.

my captivate won't let me use camera or music player when the battery percentage is below 15%. how do i get rid of this setting?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had this phone for over a month, and I am ashamed I didn't figure this out until now. As you all know, the short battery life is mainly due to the huge Captivate screen. I found out that there is another brightness setting for the stock browser. This setting is independent from the phone brightness setting. Along with using a black wallpaper, keeping the phone brightness and browser brightness all the way down, I found the battery is lasting noticeably longer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy battery is still really, really bad. I did manage to last an entire day with 30 percent left by not using it at all, but other than that, that's pretty useless. If I wanted to exchange the battery, would I be able to do that rather than turning over the entire phone and getting back a new one? I don't feel the capacity to hard reset this phone, give it in, then re-root and do all the things I'm supposed to do with this phone all over again.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had my phone for a few weeks now and after power cycling it twice when I first got it I've had better battery life. I recently decided to cycle it one more time as everyone says to do it 3 times. So last night I killed it then fully charged it to 100.At full charge I unplugged the phone and went to sleep.I woke up about 9 hours later to now find my phone at 72% battery.WTF? For 9 hours of standby. Before hand I was only goin down like 7 or 8 % while I sleep.Am I screwed now?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy battery life has been getting worse over the last few weeks. This morning in 5 hours since my last charge it is at 11%.This is with only 15 minutes of talk time and 40 minutes of display. My question is how bad is bad enough to get a replacement? Is there anyway I can get a new phone out of them and not just a new battery?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been having some battery issues on my Captivate and can only seem to get through 12 or so hours with minimal use and it is quite bothersome. The main reason I bought the phone was because of its battery life and so far, I am disappointed. For instance, I charged my phone all night, woke up and made a less than one minute phone call, looked at my status and I was at 96%. As the day went on with minimal use, it seems to drain without me even touching it. As of now (13 hours later), my battery icon is blue and showing halfway full, but the battery status says 36% which does not add up to me. I also don't have a live wallpaper and have Advanced Task Manager that kills all apps as well as GPS and Wifi turned off. Any tips? Should I take it back and get a new one or see if I can get a new battery?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI've had the captivate for about a week now and I haven't noticed much improvement on the battery life. I have discharged/recharged the battery a few times and nothing much has changed. The main issue is that overnight, the phone will go from 100% charge to 75/80% charge. I only have wifi on; bluetooth, gps, sync are all off. I also kill all applications except for a battery status notifier and the sms application.I have noticed, though, that when I sometimes open the task manager I find applications that are open, which I have never touched (ex. music player, video player). Could this be the problem and how would I fix this.Any help is appreciated cause at this point I have trouble making it through one whole day with the phone.

This morning, I unplugged my phone and the "fully charged" message was on the screen.Battery Watcher said 100%I sent ONE SMS message and it went to 98%.
View 2 Replies View RelatedTo all those who have battery issues.... How long do you charge your battery for? Check this out:
Saturday night -> Sunday - charged phone for 7 hours
Sunday - about 18-19 hrs of battery life - moderate usage
Charged from 6pm sunday night to 4am monday - (10 hours on charger)
Monday -> Tuesday - 38 hours of battery life - moderate usage
Charged tuesday from 1030pm to 4am wednesday (6 hours on charger
Tuesday - 16 hours of battery life - moderate usage.
BOTTOM LINE: I think the phone says it is charged way before it actually is full. Let me know if anyone else is having the same issues....
So coming from a BB and iPhone I never had to worry about leaving my phone on the charger all night. This being said I would like to do the same with my cappy but I am afraid that I will destroy the battery. Do you guys leave your phone on the charger over night? The only reason I am concerned about this is because the stupid phone actually tells me to unplug it when it is charged. This leads me to believe that it will over charge the battery if I leave it on...
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy Captivate has been plugged in for the past 2+ hours and I barely have 40% battery. Also, my charging cord doesn't stay plugged in. If I pick it up at all while it is charging, the cord falls out. I love this phone, but this may be a deal breaker. What are the chances these issues are just with the phone? Should I go to AT&T and get a new one?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having what I consider unacceptible battery life and I wanted to collect some thoughts on how to improve it, or if I should seek remedy with AT&T or something. At this point, the phone is of limited use to me because it dies part way through the day, which is unacceptable. Normal routine. Phone charges completely overnight. I unplug my phone sometime in the 7am hour. I usually get my first battery warning around 3pm. Phone usually shuts itself off around 5-7pm (hence, a serious problem). Since the phone is dying, it is "cycling" the battery every time I charge it. My day is what I would consider moderate usage. For comparison, my Samsung Jack last a day and a half under the same conditions. My settings for display and other things are essentially stock.
I pulled the battery stats the last time the phone died just as it was shutting itself off.
Total time: 11h 49m
Display: 39% 1h 22m
Cell idle: 12% 10h 19m
Cell Standby: 25% 11h 41m, No signal 6%
Android system: 6% CPU background 22m, CPU Foreground 9s
Palringo: 6% Background 22m, foreground 3s
Android OS: 4% 12m
Doplhin HD Browser: 2% 6m 29s, 3m 58s
Android Core apps 2%
Good 2% 4m 50s, 31s
I think its totally died like 3 or 4 times now but it still seems to die very quickly. I have the adv app killer on there, i turn off bluetooth when not in use, brightness is as low as it will go, no hectic feedback, gps off and yet i still know that by the time i get home unless i charge it in the car, i won't be able to use my phone after work. so, i'd like your guys thoughts on whether it would be worth it to take back to the at&t store and swap it out for a new one?
View 7 Replies View RelatedCame from BB to Captivate. I have a couple of issues that I would like to resolve. I haven't had that great of battery life, but saw the post about discharging the battery completely 3 times and will try that. My phone shuts off randomly. I have read about others with that issue, with really no resolution other than exchanging it. I'm still within 30 days so exchanging it may be my resolution to that. But does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop it from doing that? Also, callers are telling me that I am breaking up while talking to them. I'm in the same location where I was using my BB could it be an issue with my phone specifically? My main issue is that I have no idea if I have missed a call or SMS. Is there an app out there that will tell me that, without me having to wake up the phone? I'm really happy with the phone in general. I do have GPS issues, but can wait until the fix is pushed out. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen you have the captivate plugged in and the battery is completely charged, does the phone then run completely off AC or does it continue to run off the battery and the AC just continually recharges it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedEver since I got my Captivate, I've been charging the battery on and off, here and there, never completely, an hour or so at a time, whenever I noticed it running out. Then I read the manual, and it says there that the battery should be "completely" charged for 4 hours before first use.
Have I caused any damage to the battery? I thought with modern batteries we don't have such restrictions and problems as we did with the old batteries (battery memory, discharging once a month, etc).
We have to find a way to remove that damn time and battery indicator...alas I'm no programmer

View 8 Replies View RelatedI went to bed at 1am and woke up at 10:20am. My battery was at 65% before bed and 44% when I woke up.
I killed all tasks with advanced task killer as I do throughout the day as well. I don't use the email program on my phone nor do I get any notifications for any other programs. My Wi-Fi sleep policy is set to never because I have Wi-Fi at home. Brightness is at a low setting too. So, any ideas what would be draining my battery during the overnight when I'm not using my phone? I don't have problems during the day when I use it.
I have a utility at the top called Battery Indicator reporting the percentage of battery power remaining. I did a test where I would randomly click pages on this site and wait a few seconds on each page, over 3G, and concluded I was losing 1% every 2 minutes. Is this normal or is it comparable to your experience?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have done everything that I can think of in order to increase my battery life. I even took the old jeep to the shop to get the AC port fixed so I can charge in my car. I don't know if I have a genuine problem here or if I am just being picky. I know I have been using my phone more the past 3 days because it is a new toy and I can't keep my hands off of it, but I have noticed that the battery does not last more than 8 hour of normal use before it is completely depleted. I rooted it, removed the bloat, turned of GPS and Wireless assist, don't use WIFI, installed a task manager, and turned screen brightness to the minimum.
With all that being said the phone still does not last near what I think it should be. I have had it for 3 days now, so I am guessing what I am hearing from other people is that my battery should be broken in by now. I don't know what else to try. I noticed that when I check the battery use, the display is usually 70+ percent. Is there some day to decrease the brightness beyond the stock settings or something to increase life?Does it sound like I may need to do a battery swap. I know I have been playing with the phone more, but I feel like I haven't been using it so much that it should die that quickly.
