General :: Nexus 7 Running 4.2.2 - How To Update Rooted Device

Jul 25, 2013

I have a Nexus 7 running 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, with an unlocked boot loader and rooted. Since the 4.3 versions are now officially out, I was wondering how I would update. Is there any special process? Can I just use the normal OTA update service built-in? Will doing that lose my root and unlock? If possible, I'd prefer the most risk-free method, as I don't want to mess up my Nexus.

General :: Rooted Nexus 7 WiFi (2012) Won't Boot After Attempted Kitkat 4.4 Update

Nov 27, 2013

I am trying to get a friends Nexus 7 up and running. I recently rooted it and installed the custom recovery using my Mac with this guide while the tablet was on 4.3. All was well, but then my friend was given the option to install the 4.4 Kitkat update. After the update, the tablet has been unable to boot - it simply hangs at the startup animation. I am able to enter the recovery boot loader, and enter options to restore from a .zip, however I have no way of accessing the tablet's memory from my computer to put the original operating system back on it- although I think it could be done from Terminal, I am not well versed in command prompts.

Nexus :: WiFi Sleeps When Device Locked / Solution For This?

I want you guys to test the new email notifications when the device is connected through WiFi.

For this you've to set the WiFi sleep policy to never and the Background and Auto sync option needs to be checked.

Well, I don't get any notifications. I went an extra mile ahead and pinged the IP address and found that I get "request timed out" error when device is locked and when it is unlocked, the packets are received properly.

Nexus :: Upgrading Rooted ERE27 To Rooted FRF91

Jul 2, 2010

I am sure it's been answered but I failed completely in finding what directions for my exact state and being a n00b when it comes to rooting, I've decided to ask first.

I am currently on rooted T-Mobile's ERE27. This morning I got OTA upgrade, however, when I tried to install it I got the "verification failed" message. After I restarted the phone, I looked at the SD card and found no Update.zip of any kind.

Several questions:
1) Should I wait for an OTA? Will an OTA update work on rooted Nexus?
2) If I have to do it manually, can someone please explain the steps I should take or link me to a guide that fits my state?
3) Will an upgrade, manual or OTA, wipe the phone?

Nexus :: Rooted N1 Vs. Rooted Incredible

Mar 26, 2010

I'm a VZW subscriber. I currently use a Storm 2 (HATE IT). I have been waiting... and waiting for the N1. I have a friend that works in the higher ups of VZW (not retail). I was just giving him shit the other day about the N1 situation. He said, "you should just get the Incredible it has slight better specs and the optical mouse.". I then told him my dislike for Sense UI. He said, "well then just root it".Would there be any difference between a rooted N1 and a rooted Incredible? Wouldn't they then have the exact same OS? (Provided I was going to flash it with Cyanogen). Thusly I would have the same phone with better specs, if I got the Inc over the N1. Is this flawed thinking? Since the N1 is Googles phone and gets updates first. When you root and flash with a diff ROM, do you then not get updates? I'm guessing you would be reliant on the updates to that ROM which ever MOD you choose.

+ Restarting phone
+ Re-entering password
+ Forgetting network + refinding

WiFi sees the network, says "Connecting", comes up "Failed to connect", "Scanning" and loops on that sequence. I know the router's working because this laptop is using it right now

Nexus :: Way To Install FRF85B On Rooted Phone?

Jun 29, 2010

I have been looking around at a lot of different sites today, trying to gather information about installing the official Froyo build that was released today - but am having difficulty parsing through it all because of my specific phone setup. I have an unlocked Nexus One with the RA Recovery Image and Cyanogenmod 5.0.8-N1 installed. It seems that all the instructions that I have seen (and the files making the rounds out there) seem to be intended for stock phones. Can anyone point me to a set of instructions with the unlocked phone with a custom recovery image in mind, or am I completely missing something obvious?

General :: Nexus 7 - Loose USB Hub On Rooted Tablet?

Dec 19, 2013

I have a slight issue with my Nexus 7 (2013).I pretty much can't charge up my tablet because the USB port is very loose. It happened quite suddenly, but I don't really know why and that is not the problem. It can happen. The problem is, my tablet is rooted. Does messing with the OS void the warranty on mechanical faults clearly not associated with any software?

Also, do you think I should take it to some local mobile repair shop instead? It would most definitely ruin what is left of my warranty for good.
