i rooted my 2.2 using the xda method but my wifi dont work it connect for a sec and the disconnect and it keep repeating this over and over i try a few different rom right now i am trying the virus and still having the problem any idea waz the reason for this wifi issue?

+ Forgetting network + refinding
WiFi sees the network, says "Connecting", comes up "Failed to connect", "Scanning" and loops on that sequence. I know the router's working because this laptop is using it right now
I've read a lot of posts about getting WiFi tether for a rooted phone, BUT not many talk about the newest version of a rooted froyo 2.2. The android-wifi-tether site shows only a "wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre9.apk" for the HTC Evo 4G Android 2.1 (Eclair) version. Some posts say it works for 2.2, but it clearly says *** EXPERIMENTAL ***, and that is for 2.1. SO given that many of us will now have a rooted 2.2, who is using what to get WiFi tether on our rooted 2.2 EVO?

I have downloaded several of the android wifi tether versions (the free one) and several of the versions say that I don't have root and will not let me tether the phone. I can type su in terminal and get the # line so I think I have root. I also tried barnacle and it will let me connect to the network but will not go online. I am very new to to all of this but we are going on a long trip and want to use her phone to tether an ipad. I have an incredible and can't do it with mine yet.

View 27 Replies View RelatedAfter many frustrations i just had to comment on the updates out there.NOT all the froyo 2.2 updates are effective. after loading one of the most popular ones, everything went right until it booted up.I had no camera, no video, and my SD card was constantly looking for errors!after searching extensively, I figured what the heck, and seen a post for 2.2 WITH CAMERA that works advertised. I installed over the existing one, and when it rebooted ALL was well with my rooted 2.2 incredible.
Couple of things I do agree on..Make sure you have ASTRO loaded, and ROM Manager. Make no mistake I am not Technically Brilliant but it is easy with these programs. The file that worked flawlessly and got my camera back was ...

Anyone else having problems with adobe flash not working on their rooted incredible? I received a message from Verizon that the "update" was available, but since i was already rooted, there was no "link" to install updates. So I went to the market and installed the APK, it even showed their was an "update" available once it was loaded. However, it still will not open the APP.

I connect to my windows 7 pc and it is fine for surfing the web but if i download torrents it works for a couple minutes then i can see the 3g icon go away and come back over and over. But i download torrents fine if i use pdanet to tether.

It never seems to make the line all the way to the letter I'm trying to type. Its like this for every letter. Its especially missing the last letter it usually ends up a couple letters away from where I end up. I was using it just fine when I wasn't rooted and on 1.5 but now its giving me problems. I've even tried playing with the settings and it doesn't seem to help. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I guess I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Not working for me- connection is establishing between phone and computer but no data is being transferred. According to the google code page for the app there's a problem with Desire compatibility. I'd use the wired USB internet sharing feature in the meantime but that isn't working for me either.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMake sure that before you run Unrevoked, you remove all the other zip files from the root of your SD card at least that worked for me - Unrevoked would not get past the "Hboot" message and phone would reboot in an unrooted state. Once I cleaned them out and re-ran Unrevoked the root proceded normally.

This unit's radios worked reasonably well until rooted. Now, only 10' from the wireless router, it's intermittent. Phone and Bluetooth are both ok Our two laptops and the wireless printer have no problems. Everything else about this newly-rooted phone is terrific. View 2 Replies View RelatedAs the title, I downloaded barnacle about 2 weeks ago and could not get it working on my phone then visited the makers site on my laptop. Found a link on there to the settings needed to make it work on the X10 and here it is: Set LAN to athwlan0 Thats it! So if your rooted you can turn your X10 into a wifi hotspot and run what you want on it! 2 laptops and a PS3/Xbox? no problems. Let your poor friend who needs to use wifi to go online with their phone? No problem.
Apparently you can even let an ipad go online via the app and it is bloody fast I use a dongle for internet and although its on the same network as my phone the phone is lightening quick at sending data! Once connected it will show up as your only connected to a local network but it runs via an adhoc network so will only show a local connection. There are a few other minor connection details but you should find the answer with playing with it or just post on here and I will try to help.

I took a jump by rooting my eris, and now I have a problem and don't know how to fix it! which is frustrating, but it is exactly the reason why I rooted in the first place! The problem with my phone is that when I open google maps and type two or three characters on it it force closes on me. 50% of the reason to get this phone was for google maps. It could replace a gps with longer battery life than 4 hours which means I can leave the house and ride all day without having to plug it in. Any way I have tried turning off the phone, turning it back on, and clearing the settings on the application then turning it off again. still I get a force close message. It is using 2.1, but I am not sure which version it is using. would updating to a newer rom like 2.1 v3 help? if so how would I go about it?

Ever since then my browser will just decide to close and it takes me back to the home screen. I don't get a forced closed message it just takes me back to the home screen. I'm new to this rooting business so I'm not sure if there is something I am overlooking or what. I followed the instructions completed and wiped the phone before doing any of this.

Its broadcasting that it made an available wireless access point, but when I try to connect to it nothing happens. My computer wont link up to it. I know my WiFi card works because I have a working wireless access point where I live that I use every day with no issues. Its like my laptop sees the network, but wont associate with it. I tried using barnacle and it did the exact same thing.
