View 45 Replies View RelatedIt all started with a awesome home page and wanting to screenshoot it and finding out my Droid2 did not have software or shortcut keys like my GT7 to do this. So I read for some time until I felt confident in a safe rooting procedure which turned out to be the "Z4Root App". It's ridicously easy with the Droid2, download it, install it, open it, click "root permantley" and bang you've been granted root_access. After rooting I went with Screenshot Ultimate which claims screenshots can be done w/o Root which turned out to be untrue but w/root it works without a hitch. Unfortunately, it saves your screenshots in a very stupid place but you can access them through a file manager not the gallery but none the less it has accomplished the goal. Im curious to see how far root_access can take me
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm still running this version of Froyo and Im loving it. Im deodexed with a little bit of build.prop I got from someone on an XDA thread.I compared my phone to a coworker who has OTA. He was all stock. No apps even. And my phone loaded sites and the Market 3x faster than his.ive been skeptic about p3s 2.3.15 and especially the OTA esp since it upgrades the bootloader. So does TBH 2.3.15 upg the bootloader too??im more than satisfied with my leak. however, if anyone can justify why i should head over to either versions of the 2.3.15 ill do it. but otherwise im sticking with what i got.
View 17 Replies View RelatedOn my droid is there a place to see what apps are running? Like on a BB(don't beat me!!)if you hold down the menu it will tell you what is open.Or does it not really matter on these phones?I know on the original Storm it suffered from major app memory drain.

View 21 Replies View RelatedJust curious. With Sholes and Beast seeming to be the two most popular/stable/useful ROMs right now, is there anyone around here who's still running 2.1 on their Droid? I don't know why exactly I'd want to at this point, just would like to know.
View 25 Replies View RelatedI just overclocked to 1.2 on cynagoen 5.062, I have overclock widget installed on my phone. Whenever I check it, the widget shows the phone is at 550, unless I manually move the slider to 1200. Does this mean my phone's not really running at 1.2, or am I misunderstanding how the overclock process works? Also, is there a way to do some sort of speed test? (I don't have set cpu and I can't buy apps at the moment) I do know when i move my slider to 1200 the web seems a lot faster, but whether thats real or placebo is beyond me.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIs it stable? Gimme the scoop. How is it compared to the last 2.1 or even the last 2.01.I am itching to try it, but I have had minor stability issues in the past.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOk, forgice my noobishness, but I am not sure if I have a problem or not. I have been reading a lot about how some people Droids open up apps spontaneously. I think that may be happening to me. They don't open up on the screen but lets say I kill all the running apps with taskiller or advanced task killer, and then I open up either task manager and bam, there is a whole bunch or crap running without me actually opening anything up.
View 8 Replies View RelatedCan anyone who has used JIT before give me a link to how I should enable it (I know Fabulous uses it but I don't know who else)? I tried searching for JIT in this forum and got nothing. All droid didn't seem to help much more. It seems like there's really little to no documentation on how to get this running. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, I assume that it's still not too stable, so I should probably take a Nandroid backup first, right?
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo, as all DX owners know we have quite a few apps ALWAYS running, whether you need them or not, open them or not.... they just keep running. Why did Android design it that way? HOW to SHUT them off totally - that's the question. I have Skype, Wether, Contacts, Social app (Face book), Calendar, Sync Service, Google Messaging Service, and many more running ALL the time. And there are apps in my Tray, that are factory set, which I'll never use. How can I Delete them.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy phone isn't jacked (yet) like most people have theirs. I do have the Motorola Droid. The only thing i've done to it was Trident's version of forcing the 1st and 2nd updates through the phone itself. So i do have the FRG22D build #. I've also changed the call quality setting. So there really isn't anything that would be taxing the OS of this phone.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI've had my DroidX for a few weeks now and a few days ago upgraded to Froyo. The phone is pretty much stock from Verizon, so no rooting and Froyo was from OTA update.
My question though is with running tasks. When I first got the phone it was commonly suggested on the forms to get a task application to kill unwanted tasks, but now I'm reading the contrary where people are saying to stay away from these types of applications. Why? I had Advanced Task-Killer installed which seemed to work, but I'm still unsure why so many applications are showing as running even though I haven't started them. For example the BBC News app is almost always running even though I've turned off all the auto-notification stuff. Skype is another one that seems to be running as a task even though I haven't launched it since restarting the phone.
Question 1 -- is there a good way to kill tasks that are running behind the scenes?
Question 2 -- is there anyway to view these start-up applications in Froyo and tell it not to run them?
Question 3 -- do such apps drain battery life or performance?
so i just overclocked my droid to 1.1GHz, i have to say, its pretty damn awesome!before i overclocked all i could wait for was 2.1 update now im not even worried about it lol, anybody else agree?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter enjoying a good Sunday meal, I saw this posting on AndroidCentral.com. They show a Moto Droid running a rom from the HTC Desire. Sense UI has been ported to the Moto Droid. I know some people could care less. But for me, I graduated to the Moto Droid from the HTC Eris and I really like Sense UI. So for those that took the same route as me to the Moto Droid or is you like Sense UI, this link is for you.

I rooted my X 2.2. I installed the 928 Black Glass and then the REVOlution theme...but I'm unclear about roms vs themes...Should I be running some rom with a theme over it? I've been trolling the threads but can't seem to find a concrete answer on this...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've always kept the GPS and the DATA power on the power widget flipped on.
I would turn on BLUETOOTH and WIFI as needed.
During 2.1, the GPS would activate only if I opened an app that required it, like Google Maps.
But since 2.2, I've noticed the GPS running for no apparent reason.
No open apps, no open browser, no open maps. Nothing. it just runs on it's own. An it only started since 2.2.
I've never had to shut off my GPS before, but now, I have to keep it off and turn it on as necessary. Very frustrating.
