the biggest disappointment for us die-hard BB fans was losing the BBM. Is there a app or a question that a app could be built for the droid so we could re-connect with our RIM friends?I know the BB os is secure and specific but there is ways around everything these days. So is it possible? or has this been asked?

I recently came over from using a Blackberry (and using the Blackberry Messenger app), and I am wondering what you all might suggest as an easy way to briefly send quick messages (not using SMS or email) that would be easy to set up on my end and for my Blackberry friends.Currently I do not have any chat systems or instant messaging systems set up (as never used any of that before), so I am hoping you can make your suggestions very simple to understand and set up. I'm somewhat new to all this technology, but I am anxious to learn.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI accept the fact that I can't install Blackberry Messenger on my Droid. This was a very handy app on my Blackberry because it was more instant than a text message (and free which is handy for my BB friends without free texting), and you didn't have to be "logged on" to get a message. I asked the Verizon rep (who's only complaint when he switched to the Droid), and he said Google Talk did the same thing. I installed it and told one of my BB buddies to do the same, but you need to be logged in to get messages. Is Google Talk my best bet or is there something better?
View 49 Replies View RelatedEverytime I open up the yahoo messenger app it literally makes my DX burning hot drains the hell out of my battery, and it slows to a crawl. Shutting down the app only seems to help if it hasn't been open for very long and I normally have to do a complete phone restart to get it back to normal.

Its a hot topic around the forums and over on XDA developers, but no one has been able to explain if this is possible for sure. I have the standard ROM that came with the phone, and am with Vodafone.There has been talk of it working, and there has been talk of it not. I have heard that it can run on some HTC models, which leads me to beleive it should also be possible (some how) on the X1.

I don't want Meebo or eBuddy, just an official Messenger app. Is there one in development, is there some sort of rift between Yahoo & Android ? I noticed this same problem with my Palm Pixi too. No standard Yahoo app on their either.

A phone call to a friend confirmed they were getting them from me, but I could not see anything back from them. One friend said she sent me over 50 messages throughout the day, to see if I would get one. I was signed in at the time, but never saw any of them. When I got home, I signed in on the computer and was hoping to see a flood of the messages, but nothing popped up. My guess is, the messages were getting sent and confirmed, since I was signed in through the phone, but the app was not displaying them.

1) I'm hearing and reading a lot about problems with yahoo email setup, even that some of the fixes/workarounds don't work. Anyone?
2) Does the Droid have true threaded text messaging?
3) What's the deal with notifications on the Droid? I really can't survive without my notifications (vibrations, sounds, blinking light) for missed calls/voicemails/emails/texts/calendar appts and I thought I read that the Droid doesn't really handle these very well...or at all.
4) This is a personal preference question but how are you guys dealing with the lack of physical send and end buttons?

View 14 Replies View RelatedThe first couple of days i had my x i decided to keep using the charger from the tour to charge my x and just use my x charger as a usb sync cable to my computer. After a couple of days of going six hours on an over night charge and not being able to find a solution i decided to use the x charger instead and ended up getting 18 hours out of my battery. Im not sure if the BB charger was damaged or if it's just that the two chargers did not have similar ratings. But just thought i would throw that out there as there are many phones and devices that share a micro usb charge port now.

I used to use the IM app on the Hero, but it looks like it did not make it to the Evo. Am I missing a stock HTC app and it is now renamed or part of another app? If not, what is my best choice - something like ebuddy? I mainly use Y messenger.

No flashing LED, unchangeable ring-tones or notifications or are full of advertisements. The ex has a Moment with yahoo and I was playing with it and it works perfect, just like on a computer. On Iphone, if a friend on yahoo messenger SMS'ed me a text from within it i got it just fine as a txt msg and can reply back, but on the droid, when u send the sms messege, my droid doesnt get anything.
I tested with AIM and Live messenger and seemed to work but yahoo doesnt.
If anyone has a yahoo account and droid can u please test to see if it works for u?

I have ultimate droid "newest" and helix launcher, and im having a problem where it wont let me use the option to attach recorded audio in a text message. it just force closes every time. even if i try to send it by finding the file in astro and clicking send to message. it just force closes, any fixes or anyone else have this problem.
restarting it didn't fix it.
should i reinstall messenger? how?
and is there a way to select multiple contacts from a contact list to send a forwarded message to? like on normal vzw phones "not smart phone" or is typing the persons name the only thing you can do.

I switched to my moment from a sidekick. I use Yahoo instant Messenger a lot and on the SK slide it was flawless. Never lagged or dropped connectivity. I have noticed my android native IM app is sluggish at best and since 2.1 the dropped connectivity isn't so much as issue, I was wondering if any of you have found a YIM app that blows the stock out of the water and/or performs as well as the sidekick IM program?

I was going to download meebo from the market, but just before installing I read a warning that the app could prevent the phone from sleeping. Obviously this would then cause the battery to die faster, which is a concern for me. Does Meebo actually prevent the phone from sleeping? I want a decent messenger app that closes when I log out of my windows live messenger account and doesn't prevent the phone from sleeping and run down the battery.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a new Android user. I used Blackberry before. My blackberry when i had configured my business email address as POP3 it downloads all my emails local on the phone, so when i want to search something i can easily did that at all my emails there.
Now i am trying to find one Android application for my emails at my new phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) with this capability but no luck until now.
I tried the default email app but it shows only the last 20 lets say emails and if i want to see more i have to scroll down and press "load more" to load 20 more. So if i want to search for one email i have to scroll down a hundred times to load 20-20 emails until i will manage to have them all their.
I tried also some other applications but every application it has this option for "load more".
Just got a Nexus One a couple of weeks ago and was somewhat disappointed that there wasn't an official Yahoo Messenger app (everyone I know uses it). Anyway, I just found the official Yahoo Messenger just showed up in the Market. Yahoo Search and Mail are there as well but I'm not sure if they are new or not. Yahoo! Messenger for Android
