Aug 17, 2010I am sure this has been discussed before but I have the Sprint evo and am looking for a way to video chat from my cell to another pc with a program like AIM, MSN, Google talk or Yahoo Messenger. I use to be able to do it with Skype (through Fring) but now that its gone im hoping if anyone could recommend another similar application for this. I am looking for a third party software that i could video chat with through using a common chat program (AIM, MSN, Google talk, or Yahoo Messenger).

I've tried Meebo and eBuddy but they both seem to disconnect if you leave your phone alone for so long. I see the Intercept does, but the Moment seemed like a nicer phone (better screen, more responsive). I know the Moment is EOL, but for my daughter's purposes I'm not worried about this. Sep 10, 2010First thread on here so hopefully this is not a duplicate (I did a search and nothing came up for this app) and is actually useful (just thought I'd share the love ). Anyways stumbled across an app less than a week ago called "Hanashi Chat". You should be able to find it on the Market, just search for "Hanashi". It's a messaging app made by Sony Ericsson and you can find more about it here:Hanashi - mobile chat client.But just a short overview, this is so far an Android exclusive messaging app. Once you get the thing sorted and ready to go, it'll look through your contacts and see which of your friends are already using it. You can then text with your friends (using 3G or WiFi), voice chat, send photos and music, etc. You can also share your locations with all contacts or individual contacts (just tinker in settings under "Profile") and it'll show you on the map approx. where each of you are and give you a distance of how far apart you are. I guess if I was to relate this app to something I'd say it's a mix of MSN and BBM.Haven't tried out all the features, so if you come across something cool about the app that I didn't mention, please to let others know.And just out of curiosity, do you guys think it's better for this app to stay Android exclusive (to entice people to convert to an Android if it does become successful) or have it cross platform (so you can chat with your iPhone and BlackBerry friends)?

May 22, 2010Does anybody else besides me also like the way the iPhone and Palm Pre both place the photo (or text "balloon") of peopl on alternate sides of the screen during text messengering and IM chat conversations? It really gives a nice sense the "back and forth" of real life conversation...and to also help distinguish one's own comments from those of the person one is conversing with...particularly if there's no actual photo in the phone book to show the person (you can still see the back and forth pattern Seems like such a great idea and so simple to implement! Why the heck can't they do that on our Android phone?

Jul 19, 2010I've done a search and couldn't find any definitive answer and couldn't figure it out on my own.Is there a way to select which name you want to display for linked contacts? For example, I have a contact with 4 linked profiles (phone, google, facebook, twitter); It is displaying the twitter name and I'd rather it display the actual name (from any of the other linked profiles). When i go to edit this contact, the first name and last name is what i want it to display, yet it still display the twitter name.

When I logged into all of my accounts the contacts came over and auto linked to Facebook...this is fine, but the Google contacts with phone numbers are being hidden by the Facebook contact info and not showing their phone number. Is there a fix for this? Do I have to sign out of my Facebook account to see phone numbers?

Mar 31, 2010So i installed nexbeast last night.... and I like the theme alot but i used petes script to delete the stock mms application. And the nexus theme has a shortcut on the bottom of the home screen that is linked to the stock mms app, I use handcent is there a way to replace that shortcut? There is an advanced shortcut menu in the configure menu that shows a shortcut saying application package. it reads com.android.mms I am hoping I can replace that with a handcent command but not sure what to do. Any ideas?

Oct 29, 2010My nephew sees me on google chat when I have my phone on and can send me chat messages that show up as a notification where the heck is this program on the evo? They are coming across as IM's and I can reply back but if I clear the notification, for the life of me I can't find the app on the phone that is doing this? How are these IM's getting to me and what app can I open up to reply? I do not want to just be able to drop down the notifications to reply I want to use te app. Again these are NOT SMS messages these are actual IM's.

Nov 7, 2009I use to have an Iphone and finally upgraded to my Droid. But thing that i havent figured out how to work is Yahoo messenger to SMS to my droid.
On Iphone, if a friend on yahoo messenger SMS'ed me a text from within it i got it just fine as a txt msg and can reply back, but on the droid, when u send the sms messege, my droid doesnt get anything.
I tested with AIM and Live messenger and seemed to work but yahoo doesnt.
If anyone has a yahoo account and droid can u please test to see if it works for u?
Regular phone to phone sms works fine too.

Oct 15, 2010Everytime I open up the yahoo messenger app it literally makes my DX burning hot drains the hell out of my battery, and it slows to a crawl. Shutting down the app only seems to help if it hasn't been open for very long and I normally have to do a complete phone restart to get it back to normal.
