Motorola Droid X :: Blackberry Tour Charger Not Sufficient
Aug 6, 2010
The first couple of days i had my x i decided to keep using the charger from the tour to charge my x and just use my x charger as a usb sync cable to my computer. After a couple of days of going six hours on an over night charge and not being able to find a solution i decided to use the x charger instead and ended up getting 18 hours out of my battery. Im not sure if the BB charger was damaged or if it's just that the two chargers did not have similar ratings. But just thought i would throw that out there as there are many phones and devices that share a micro usb charge port now.

I got a motorola cliq off of crags list(bad idea) for $130. Sometimes it charges and sometimes it doesn't. It will say its charging, but the power is still going down. I'm using a blackberry charger for it. Do I need a new battery? Or is it the phone or the charger?

Can I use my Blackberry charger on my Eris? My chargers are next to each other and I accidentally plugged it in the other day. It fit and the Eris's battery indicator showed that it was charging. I immediately unplugged it for fear of doing it harm. Are they compatible from a power perspective?

I noticed that my BB Storm charger and car charger work on the Incredible. Is this ok? I did a search on here and read that people are using it on their Eris. Would it be safe to say its ok to use on the Incredible?

This is confirmed by Verizon, so take warning.I got my Incredible on Tues, used my BB charger on my phone because the Verizon store said it was ok since it was still a micro usb. My battery started dying after about a few hours. Tried every trick in the book and still died afte about 3 hrs.Went to the Verizon store and got it replace. They once again said it was ok to use the blackberry charger. So i let the new battery run down as the guy said and began to charge w/ my blackberry car charger for about 30 min. I noticed the orange charger light was not on. I unplugged the charger and the phone will not even turn on now. Verizon is overnighting me another Incredible.Listen to others if you want or take your chances, but the tech guy at Verizons main tech support center said to use only Htc chargers. **SO USE YOUR BB CHARGERS ON YOUR INCREDIBLE AT YOUR OWN RISK**

Anyone else have screen issues with a different brand charger? I use a blackberry at work and it seems when I use that one, it is the only time I lose all screen functionality. It starts going haywire. If I touch the A key, it will select the N or something completely off the wall. If I unplug it, wait about 60 seconds, it works again. Wonder if anyone else has an issue with other brand chargers? Going to toss this one but thought I'd let people know in case they run into the same issue.

I recently came over from using a Blackberry (and using the Blackberry Messenger app), and I am wondering what you all might suggest as an easy way to briefly send quick messages (not using SMS or email) that would be easy to set up on my end and for my Blackberry friends.Currently I do not have any chat systems or instant messaging systems set up (as never used any of that before), so I am hoping you can make your suggestions very simple to understand and set up. I'm somewhat new to all this technology, but I am anxious to learn.

Is it okay to charge the Sprint HTC Hero with a Blackberry charger? They are both listed as using MINI-USB ports but when you look at the actual plug, they look different. The Blackberry charger does fit, and charges, but i was just wondering if anyone had any issues. I went to the sprint store and asked them, but they said that they "heard" it would mess things up. But obviously they just wanted me to buy a car charger from them.

the biggest disappointment for us die-hard BB fans was losing the BBM. Is there a app or a question that a app could be built for the droid so we could re-connect with our RIM friends?I know the BB os is secure and specific but there is ways around everything these days. So is it possible? or has this been asked?

I am a die-hard Blackberry user but I'm gonna give the Droid a shot later this week, and I've been lurking around these forums for the last few days but I'd like to just get a couple of things confirmed before I take the leap.
1) I'm hearing and reading a lot about problems with yahoo email setup, even that some of the fixes/workarounds don't work. Anyone?
2) Does the Droid have true threaded text messaging?
3) What's the deal with notifications on the Droid? I really can't survive without my notifications (vibrations, sounds, blinking light) for missed calls/voicemails/emails/texts/calendar appts and I thought I read that the Droid doesn't really handle these very well...or at all.
4) This is a personal preference question but how are you guys dealing with the lack of physical send and end buttons?

Will virtually any mini-USB based cable, car charger, and wall charger work with my HTC Droid Eris? Mini-USB cables are generally universal, but I want to ensure that I use a compatible car charger and wall charger that won't damage my phone. The official Verizon accessories of course seem overpriced, if any generic solution would work equally well.
For example, I am considering this product on amazon.com: Amazon.com: Home Travel Wall Charger + Rapid Cell Phone Car Charger + USB Data Sync Charge Cable for HTC Touch Pro 2 / Tilt 2 / Hero / Imagio / Pure / Touch Diamond 2 / Droid Eris: Cell Phones & Service. Overall, this mini-USB cable / car charger / wall charger combo gets positive reviews, but I've heard of random glitches for some cheap chargers.

I did a bit of searching on here, and definitely did my due dillegence researching online, however, I was unable to get confirmation on a few points regarding the Hero. I'm hoping someone here can provide some insight. 1. I understand that with Android (unless you mod it, which I most likely will not be doing) you cannot run applications from the SD Card. That being said, the Hero comes with 512MB internal storage, and say hypothetically, I have 350 contacts, never delete text messages or call log and have 60 apps installed (most likely, no games, which i understand take up the most room), will the storage provided suffice? What gets stored on internal memory besides apps? 2. Has visual voicemail been confirmed? I've seen Sprint documentation stating it was, however, I haven't seen it referenced or demonstrated in any of the 25 or so reviews I've read. 3. How does the calendar, mail and contact clients stack up against WinMo? I rely heavily on my calendar, as it's synced with my company's exchange server. It basically keeps my life organized on every level, so I'd really need it to be pretty solid. Again, I haven't really seen this touched on in any of the reviews. Same with mail. Contacts I guess I've seen reviewed pretty extensively because of the integration it has with all of the social networking and whatnot, so my main concern are the calendar and the mail clients.

I have the VZW car charger they were bundling back in November, it was not meant for the Droid as it wasn't even listed, it was meant for BB etc. What I have found is that it doesn't give out enough power to charge the Droid at the same time that you are using GPS so the phone actually discharges the battery as you are using. I found the Moto charger on Amazon and am wondering if anyone else has used it and if it provides enough power to charge the phone and use GPS. If you have the charger could you look at what it says the specs are on it,

So I baught a cheap USB car charger on ebay a while back and when I pluged it into my Moto Droid nothing happened. It did not say "charging" and it actually never di gain any battery life from it.Maybe it was defective? So I decided to go and get a Jabra USB car charger and still the same problem. Should I be seeing "charging" on the phone just like you see when you are hooked up to a pc?

Recently my car charger has stopped working. When you plug it in the phone says charging, and the red light on the adapter goes on when plugged in, but the battery percentage only decreases over time and the little light on the left that normally goes on does not. Has this happened to anyone before? I switched out the USB cable but it's still not charging. The next obvious idea is to buy a new charger but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas before I did. Also, if need be, anyone know of cheap places online to buy one?

I bought a generic car charger for my Droid. My thought was something along the lines of "a micro USB charger is a micro USB charger" and clearly I was wrong.
I noticed that after an hour on the charger while i was using GPS, 3G and Bluetooth, that the charge on my phone had actually dropped by about 10%. At best, the generic charger only slowed the drain from the battery. I replaced it with a Rocketfish charger from Best Buy and, while charging was painfully slow, it did charge.
Maybe it was the brand of charger and maybe my charger was faulty but I thought I'd throw this out there for anyone who is going to grab one.

I have a micro USB charger for my Bluetoth headset (Electronics) and another for my work phone (LG). I can't seem to get the X to charge up using either??? Interestingly, if I take the iPhone charger and change the cable from the USB/30 pin to the USB/micro USB it works fine. All the chargers are rated 5V. The X on any regular USB port on any computer I've tried so far. So, if the 5V is the same for all those chargers, is then just a question of driving enough amps into the X?

I'm looking to pick up a car charger / FM transmitter setup for using my Droid in the car and playing music through the car speakers. I found two seemingly similar products on Amazon:
Amazon.com: Accessory Power FlexSmart Car Mount System for SmartPhones - Cutting Edge FM Transmitter and Charger with DC Surge Protection and Stabilized Flex-Neck: Electronics
and
Amazon.com: Accessory Power FlexSmart Car Mount System for MOTOROLA DROID SmartPhones - Cutting Edge FM Transmitter and Charger with DC Surge Protection and Stabilized Flex-Neck: Electronics
They look the same to me (just one is $10 cheaper!) so I thought I'd ask if anyone had any experience with this device. How does it charge the phone? Is there a micro USB connector inside the dock, or do you have to use your own cord? Any other perspectives you can offer on these devices, or any other devices that would charge and do FM transmitting at the same time will be greatly appreciated.

Interesting....I start at 80% battery...insert the Dx into the official moto car dock and car charger...drive using nav for 3hrs and my battery is down to 50%. I also stream pandora simultaneously. I would expect the charger to keep up but it is a losing battle....

I noticed my phone has stopped being charged by the wall charger. Not to sure why this is. I tried several different outlets in my house and it wouldn't charge. I then used the same cable and plugged it up to my computer and it charges with no problem. My car charger cable works too. Any ideas why the wall charger would want to stop working all the sudden? Its not the cable because like I said I have it charging via my computer.
