HTC Desire :: Windows Live Messenger Application

I'm a new HTC Desire user and was wondering if any of you could recommend the best app to use for Windows live messenger. I was going to download meebo from the market, but just before installing I read a warning that the app could prevent the phone from sleeping. Obviously this would then cause the battery to die faster, which is a concern for me. Does Meebo actually prevent the phone from sleeping? I want a decent messenger app that closes when I log out of my windows live messenger account and doesn't prevent the phone from sleeping and run down the battery.

I'm about to buy a used HTC Dream (T-Mobile G1), but I'd like to know more about what MSN/WLM clients are available before I do.My ideal client would be a complete straight port of Pidgin. (I understand that porting isn't a straightforward task due to the vastly different environments.) The primary features of Pidgin that I would like to see are WLM connectivity and the ability to keep logs of every conversation locally.I've tried a number of WLM clients by downloading the apks and running them in the development emulator, but they're not suitable for a number of reasons:
- Meebo isn't suitable as my firewall is reporting that it tries to access meebo.com upon sign in. Does this mean that it acts as a thin client (and therefore I would be sending my password to this unknown company)? Also, I can't figure out if Meebo allows you to keep logs.
- Both MSN Talk and MSN Droid have adverts.
- Nimbuzz requires me to create some sort of meta-account, which I assume would allow me to sign into multiple different IM networks using only my Nimbuzz name and password. I'm not interested in anything like that. (Which rules out Trillian, if I recall.)
I want something that runs purely on the phone with no adverts: exactly like Pidgin. This rules out web based services such as Microsoft's own WLM web client and ebuddy (unless there's a native Android ebuddy WLM client that I'm not aware of).Can anybody recommend a suitable WLM/MSN app?

I wonder if anyone is having the same issues I am with Windows Live Messenger?My company and all employees with computers or smartphones uses this as a constant communication tool.On BlackBerry it works really well. If you lose signal and re-gain it, it will auto sign back in.With the Hero, it works fine initially but then after an unknown amount of inactivity, it signs out or whatever. When this happens, it does not sign itself back in until you do it manually or soft reset.Very annoying problem since everyone at the office reminds me that my "little green man" isn't working.

I just get my hand on a samsung galaxy S vibrant from bell here in canada. Now I am wondering if there is a real microsoft apps for MSN on Android because I have instant messaging in my rate plan and I am pretty sure I have to use the real microsoft one to not get charge for it. If you guys know more about this please tell me. If yuo want more info just ask

I have logged in with my live messenger account with the Instant Messaging app for the whole week since I got the phone. Wow I just checked my bill online and I got charged for over 500 sms sent and received. Even I logged in using my live account still consider as sms??? Unbelievable ATT

Windows Live Hotmail | Get Hotmail on Mobile Phone| Email on Mobile.I don't know if it's a different email app or if it would work better than setting my hotmail account w/ droid mail or not? I am hesitant to have the link sent to my phone because I don't want to receive any spam texts, etc.Right now it's faster just to go to the hotmail website and login there, although I can't view any attachments at all and never could.

-remote wipe
-backup
-file/photos sync
-lost phone tracking
-"itunes" sync

I just upgraded to the Evo from the Hero. I was lucky and the store did not record my equipment upgrade last time, so I was eligible at the launch date. I used to use the IM app on the Hero, but it looks like it did not make it to the Evo. Am I missing a stock HTC app and it is now renamed or part of another app? If not, what is my best choice - something like ebuddy? I mainly use Y messenger.

Are there any Yahoo Messenger applications that work properly on the EVO? Tried several versions last night and they either do not notify you properly or promptly. No flashing LED, unchangeable ring-tones or notifications or are full of advertisements. The ex has a Moment with yahoo and I was playing with it and it works perfect, just like on a computer. This phone should have come with a yahoo messenger app already.

the biggest disappointment for us die-hard BB fans was losing the BBM. Is there a app or a question that a app could be built for the droid so we could re-connect with our RIM friends?I know the BB os is secure and specific but there is ways around everything these days. I switched to my moment from a sidekick. I use Yahoo instant Messenger a lot and on the SK slide it was flawless. Never lagged or dropped connectivity. I have noticed my android native IM app is sluggish at best and since 2.1 the dropped connectivity isn't so much as issue, I was wondering if any of you have found a YIM app that blows the stock out of the water and/or performs as well as the sidekick IM program?

Where the hell is the Yahoo Messenger App for Android? I have an Eris on Verizon and there is no Yahoo Mess. app on there. I don't want Meebo or eBuddy, just an official Messenger app. Is there one in development, is there some sort of rift between Yahoo & Android ? I noticed this same problem with my Palm Pixi too. No standard Yahoo app on their either.

Just got a Nexus One a couple of weeks ago and was somewhat disappointed that there wasn't an official Yahoo Messenger app (everyone I know uses it). Anyway, I just found the official Yahoo Messenger just showed up in the Market. Yahoo Search and Mail are there as well but I'm not sure if they are new or not. Yahoo! Messenger for Android

Is anyone having an issue with yahoo messenger on the HTC hero? It worked well at first - but now it doesn't. Specifically - I can log in - but none of my contacts pop up. In addition, I can send IM's from my phone - but I can't receive them.

Everytime I open up the yahoo messenger app it literally makes my DX burning hot drains the hell out of my battery, and it slows to a crawl. Shutting down the app only seems to help if it hasn't been open for very long and I normally have to do a complete phone restart to get it back to normal.

I have been using the Yahoo messenger app for the last week or so without problems, but today I have not been able to receive any messages. A phone call to a friend confirmed they were getting them from me, but I could not see anything back from them. One friend said she sent me over 50 messages throughout the day, to see if I would get one. I was signed in at the time, but never saw any of them. When I got home, I signed in on the computer and was hoping to see a flood of the messages, but nothing popped up. My guess is, the messages were getting sent and confirmed, since I was signed in through the phone, but the app was not displaying them.

I'm new to the Android OS having been a Symbian (2nd phone is a Nokia N97) and Windows Mobile user previously. My question regards a copy of Family Guy (Something, Something, Something, Dark Side) which I purchased yesterday. The standard DVD also comes with a digital copy on the DVD which, when inserted into the drive brings up a choice of transferring the file to my computer to be copied over to my Desire as either a iTunes file or a Windows Media Video (WMV).Ideally I want to avoid the iTunes route as currently I have no use for that program on my system so I would like to be able to use the WMV version. When I copied the file to my Desire, it didn't play and the phone didn't seem to recognise it. Can anyone please give me advice on how to play a WMV on my Desire?

I was searching for ways to watch football games this season, and during the search I keep seeing an app called LIVE TV. Well I did an appbrain search and can't find it. Have done a google search and found other references to it, but still can't find it. The one thing I hate about the market, is it isn't like google. You HAVE to HAVE the exact spelling or it doesn't find it. Does anyone know the exact spelling or name of this app? From what I read, you could watch cbs, espn, etc... with it - all live.
