Does anyone know how I can get custom alarm notifications WITHOUT a 3rd party program? I tried adding a "Ringtones" folder to my SD card and dropping an MP3 in but it isn't found under ringtones. I'd really like to be able to get some louder tones for the Alarm.

My only complaint about the Droid is the seeming lack of options for notifications.
Is there a way, or an app, that would allow you to assign different notifications to emails vs texts vs missed calls?
Also, does anyone know if there's a way to set the phone to re-notify you periodically if you have a notification that has not been looked at? I tend to leave my phone sitting on my desk at work and would like it to let me know if I missed a call or text while I was away from my desk.
Ideally I'd like to silence email notifications, but have text and missed call notifications with unique ring tones for each, and I'd like the phone to renotify me every 10 minutes or so if I have a text or missed call waiting for me.
I just downloaded the Handcent SMS app and really like it. However now when I get an incoming message, I get two quick notification alerts back to back. is there a way to get it back to just one notification alert while keeping Handcent?

This is the kicker, though.I don't want a LONG timeout.I want a SHORT timeout.I'd like to be able to set it at somewhere in the 10-20 second range.Why? I'm using my phone as a day manager in a classroom setting.I need about 10 alarms during the course of the day for very specific reasons (each with their own ringtone).I need them to ramp up to maximum loudness, play for about 10 seconds, then shut off regardless of any action I take. Some of the alarms I've seen do allow a change to the timeout, but it's like 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes. Why not just go custom on the timeout and make everybody happy?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am a new owner of the HTC Hero and I tried to customize the ring tones and alarm sounds by using the directions provided by leaky on the tread "HTC Hero: Tips, Tricks & Useful Apps" but unfortunately this did not work out for my Hero. My SD card appeared as DCIM and I had to rename it to SD card and then on the MEDIA folder I added an AUDIO folder in which I added three separate files. One named ring tones, one named alarms and on named notifications as directions provided by thread. Then I added the appropriate .mp3 files to each folder while having the Hero plugged in with my PC.

I installed Timeriffic & it's effective at silencing notifications at night. Unfortunately, my alarm didn't go off this morning. Alternatively, is there another way to silence emails at night & still be able to use the built in alarm (razr).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using the stock HTC e-mail program on my Droid Incredible to access my Gmail account. Up until recently, I would get a single notification for each new e-mail message that came in. Now when I get a notification that an e-mail has come in I get a follow-up notification every five minutes or so until I open my e-mail program. This started happening even though I didn't change any settings. I have been unable to find a setting either in HTC's e-mail or in Gmail to undo this. I think, but am not sure, that this started up when I upgraded to 2.3.4.

I just miss alot of my alarms and want to be able to continue to use them on the Hero. so far everything I have tried does not work. I even created a "Media" folder with 3 sub folders "Alarms", "notifications", "Ringtones" even by placing them in these folders still nothing. I have been able to use the media player to add my music as a ringtone, however the music I have placed in the ringtone folder does not show up either in my phone.

For example, I may want the phone on vibrate but have any email/SMS with the string "CRITICAL" (case sensitive) in the subject use a loud alert sound and repeat every 2 min until I acknowledge or read the email. The closest thing I could find was having handcent do a custom notification on the SMS sender's number, but it lacks the repeat options. Anyone know of an app that can do this?

If i snooze alarm 1, alarm 2/3 never goes off. i thought all 3 would be seperate, but it seems only 1 can be active at a time. unless im doing something wrong. this happens on the default alarm clock and, better alarm clock.

I have created the audio as .ogg files uploaded them to a folder on the root of my sd card '/notifications' and can view them from the Settings > Sound & Display > Notification activity.
My problem is they all sound the same! (something like a short ringing sound).
I can play them through the ASTRO file manager and they sound as they do on my PC. I am stumped... perhaps anyone can help me to figure out why this is? I have tried converting to a few different formats (wav, mp3, etc) and using them but nothing seems to work.
is there some application that can manage the notification for each app, i can chose for which application i want to be notified by a ringtone/vibrate for example i don't what to know about the Facebook notifications, but i want it to vibrate when i receive a whatsapp or email notification.

One thing I loved about my bold was how I was able to customize notifications; email was only indicated by the LED light, SMS vibrated, phone vibrated then rang, and additionally, I had unique notification settings for certain contacts (ie, my wife). When I create or download any notification sound it won't show up on the list when I try to make it a custom but it will show for my default list. Apparently I did it somehow because one of my notification tones I created appeared on the list but that's it. How to add to that list?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI looked around and couldn't seem to find the information I was seeking in one place but found it on various forums. I thought I would put it here in case others need it or are looking for it. I was trying to add custom mp3 tones to my alarm clock, gmail, sms, etc., but I couldn't get the phone to recognize anything. In the end this is what I did to make it work:
I plugged the phone into my PC using the "usb storage device" option upon connection. I created a folder in the root directory called Tones (probably anything will work as a name) and then created 3 folders inside called Ringtones, Notifications, and Alarms. Anything in those folders will show up only in that app.
In other words, if you want a custom Alarm, you will need an Alarms folder and an mp3 or two. If you have a custom ringtone, you will need to put it in the Ringtones folder and so on. I got a bunch from the Zedge website but I've made a few of my own such as Halo Chant among others.
I know how to get different sounds for text and phone, you go right to the app, but what about Ebay? There is only a place to enablenot change the ringtone. I'm looking for help or an app that'll let me do it.
