Why after the new ota update are all my picture messages and slideshow messages showing up with tiny pics that show up for about 1 second and then flash away and the text also flashes quick to where i cant barely read it in time. How can i fix this? Anyone esle have this problem?

Anyone think 2.2 will fix the whole "my Droid randomly deleted all my texts again" issue? I really hope so because I'm sick of this happening 2-3 times a week
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo I was using my the handcent sms app on my Droid today and all a sudden the person i was sending messages to was receiving the messages 3 times. Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI tried the steps above, and it didn't work. I then compared it to the steps on the other link, and there it says to do mtdblock4, not mtdblock3
So I typed mtdblock4 instead, and I rebooted from the adb shell in the computer.
The boot animation went fine, and then when I got to my homescreen, I freaked out!
It is all black. Instead of the unlock button, there is a green button with an airplane symbol on it. It says NO SERVICE.
The bar IS transparent, but it has these weird symbols on it, not the normal ones.
AND, to make it worse, EVERYTHING is force closing. I'm getting messages after messages of force closing. NOTHING works.
I can't even pull down the notification bar to get mount my sdcard in order to delete the .apk file from there. All these stupid force close messages keep propping up.
Also, it says that the date is Wednesday, December 31 (the 31 is a thursday, though), and it has a time of 6 hours from now.
NOW,
I am actually still in debugging mode, and I still have access to adb shell.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO? I'M FREAKING OUT HERE!
(Why oh why did I have to root my beautiful Droid! I think I killed it!)
anyone else having this problem after the update to 2.1. When I had 1.5 it NEVER force closed. Any idea's what I can do? Yes I did the hard rest after the update.

Can we update to 2.2 via update.zip in recovery, install rom manager, and then install MY backup on his phone? I'm currently uploading them to file hosting, and wondering if this would work.
If so, will he be fully rooted, deodexed, and themed(I'm rocking the xtreme 2.2 theme)?

View 12 Replies View RelatedDROID spontaneously lost all my MMS/SMS messages....evidently this is a known bug (as far as users go)...Verizon nor Google acknowledge this issue. No way to predict when the bug will strike...no way to prevent and no way to retrieve the messages.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was reading some info awhile ago on the droid on some site and it stated that IM apps etc use your text messages on your plan please tell me this is incorrect.My droid is supposed to be here tomorrow and definitely am not interested in this phone if Verizon is pulling that crap on this phone.I'm aware that is how IM apps work on non smart phone Verizon phones and assumed that wasn't the case for the Droid.

I have heard about SMS backup and will be dld'ing tonight to try out, but from what I have read so far it's not quite what I want. there is a certian individual that I have to save all comunications from, so I was hoping to find something where I could just select a thread. If this isn't possible I don't mind exporting all of them and just deleting what I don't need (I don't get that many SMS anyway).

View 16 Replies View RelatedSo out of the blue today my hand cent starts getting 2 messages each time i get a text message. Even displays both of them in the bubbles. I've made sure hand cent is the default and of course I've disabled the stock message apps. But after I installed the new froyo update I have 2 txt msg stock apps. Messaging and Text Message. Anyone know what .apk to remove to get remove them and where those apks are... and the big thing... how to get the dang double messages to stop. It stinks because it makes me always have an icon on the notification bar saying I've got unanswered messages.

It makes it really difficult to get through the entire message, but it is not very consistent. Sometimes I can stay on the message for ever and sometimes it just bumps me out. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question regarding syncing and g mail. I have only had the phone for a few hours, and I love it, but I am a little frustrated. I have setup my Google Mail, Contact, and Calendar and everything works great until I try to delete a goggle mail from my phone. When I delete the msg from the phone, it deletes the msg from the g mail server. I DO NOT want this to happen. I have looked into g mail and the settings, along with the settings on the phone. I have also tried to create filters, and I still have the same results. Is it possible to only do a "one way" sync? I do not want to lose msgs off my g mail. Am I doing something wrong, or am I just missing something?

Anyway, I've been without a working device for a week now as I wait for my DX to arrive. I just check voice mail a couple times a day to make sure I'm not missing anything important. On the other hand, I have to imagine I have a serious back log of texts. A buddy of mine said he thought the DX (which my wife currently has) could be configured to retrieve texts from more than one account (phone number). Is that possible? Is there any other way to retrieve text messages other than with an activated device?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been using Handcent for awhile. Recently been having problems with duplicate messages in Handcent. I think it started when I switched to Koush's Rom, but I can't swear to it. I use Google Voice for all my calls and text, but I send and receive my text via Handcent using my GNumber. The default client has the duplicates tos, so I don't think it is Handcent's fault but either the phone is somehow duplicating the message or the problem is with GVoice when it forwards the text to me. I can send texts just fine and no one has complained to me about recieving double texts, so I believe it is only my incoming messages. It also isn't 100% of the time, but I would say around 80%.

Went through the verification process and dialed the * number from my phone and everything went well. Got my welcome messages and all. Problem is though when I call myself and voicemail picks up, It just says "We are having trouble completing your call. Enter the phone number you are trying to reach".

Yesterday, I downloaded the free Yahoo Mail app. On the top of the screen, I seen a little Yahoo icon that indicates new messages. How do I get to them? I thought there would be a button with all of the other apps that came pre-loaded, but there doesn't seem to be anything for Yahoo. I've just been going to the browser button and getting to Yahoo from there... is that the only way?

What's happening, though, is that TWO messages are being SENT when I send a message from Handcent. The GF says she's getting every message twice.
I got a strange 9.99 on my bill this month... and when I call Verizon they say it was for using advanced Text messageing Services w Handcent? I am confused I have not seen any indication that there was charges associated w using Handcent ... is this info correct or do I need to go back to verizon for more info?
