I got a strange 9.99 on my bill this month... and when I call Verizon they say it was for using advanced Text messageing Services w Handcent? I am confused I have not seen any indication that there was charges associated w using Handcent ... is this info correct or do I need to go back to verizon for more info?

Anyone else notice in the new version of handcent your now getting both txt message and handcdnt message notification in the notification bar? Used to be i only got handcent but since about a week ago i noticed I'm getting both. Text notifications are set to off too.. quite frustrating.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using Handcent for awhile. Recently been having problems with duplicate messages in Handcent. I think it started when I switched to Koush's Rom, but I can't swear to it. I use Google Voice for all my calls and text, but I send and receive my text via Handcent using my GNumber. The default client has the duplicates tos, so I don't think it is Handcent's fault but either the phone is somehow duplicating the message or the problem is with GVoice when it forwards the text to me. I can send texts just fine and no one has complained to me about recieving double texts, so I believe it is only my incoming messages. It also isn't 100% of the time, but I would say around 80%.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using Handcent for a few days now, and have found all the threads about people getting two notifications. I'm not having that issue - I've disabled notifications in the stock messaging app.
What's happening, though, is that TWO messages are being SENT when I send a message from Handcent. The GF says she's getting every message twice.
I apologize for the topic, I understand this is a common question because I did search around before posting this.I know that I need to go into the stock messaging program and disable notifications for that program. However I have been messing around with trying to delete/block programs that I don't need or want to see and I don't think I could have uninstalled the stock program because I'm still getting double notifications (one from stock and one from handcent), so I was going to go to the stock one and disable notifications.But I can't find it anywhere on my system whatsoever. Even when I get the notification pop-up it doesn't give me an option to open the whole program, just the notification and option to reply. So is there somewhere it could be hiding that I'm not looking? Or can I reinstall it, if so how?
View 16 Replies View RelatedUsing Handcent for texts, but went into the Messages app and saw a bunch of "ghost" messages with a date of 12/31/69 (tap on the messages and they don't load). It turns out that when I receive a text it displays the correct date and time in both Handcent and Messages, but when I delete in in Handcent it goes into this "ghost" state in Messages. Has anybody else run into this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been using Handcent since I've had my Desire, but since the last few updates it seems to have developed a fault when sending the same sms message to multiple contacts. If I send a message to say 3 people, it either force closes, or comes up with the error message not sent. If it comes up with the latter, the messages are queued & sent 1 after the other. I was able to do this no problem before, so has anyone else experienced this in Handcent?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI get a poor signal at home (did on my Nokia), so half the time when I send a text, there won't be a signal to send it. I always then go and put my phone in a place where there is a signal and leave it..
With my Nokias, the phone would send it fairly quickly (usually within 10-15 minutes).
The message is still sat in Handcent with the whirling round icon next to it. If I copy the message, and resend it, whilst there's a signal, away it goes. I can't find any way to force the send when I want, and I left the resend in a signal area for 1hr 15 mins and it still hadn't sent..
Does anyone have an option on either of these apps? Or think one is better then the other? I need a text app that will allow me to text to a "Group" instead of text and picking each name separate.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI sent a mass text out today. people started responding. But I am left with 1 notification for an unread text. Well, I have read that text, but it won't clear. I deleted the specific text, it won't clear the 1 in my status bar. When I pull my status bar dropdown menu, it shows the text, so I click on it and handcent force closes. I deleted the entire thread from the person, still didn't clear. Powered down, still didn't clear. DELETED handcent and reinstalled, still didn't clear.

Anyway, I've been without a working device for a week now as I wait for my DX to arrive. I just check voice mail a couple times a day to make sure I'm not missing anything important. On the other hand, I have to imagine I have a serious back log of texts. A buddy of mine said he thought the DX (which my wife currently has) could be configured to retrieve texts from more than one account (phone number). Is that possible? Is there any other way to retrieve text messages other than with an activated device?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have recently been having issues with text messaging. About half of the texts that I try to send end up in a "pending" state. If you go to the factory messaging, and long press on a message, there is an option to "View Report" and that is where it has the pending status. I can't seem to figure out a rhyme or reason to this, but they don't actually get sent to the people I'm trying to send them to. Does anyone have any ideas? I've been fine with the stock messaging program, but would Handcent fix this? I'm up for trying anything at this point, as long as I can text and be sure the people are going to get them. BTW I was hoping the 2.0.1 update would fix this, but I force loaded the update and it's still doing it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted 2.2 DX, and on 2.1 when I got a new text it would jump to the top of the list with a blue dot next to it. Now ever since I upgraded to 2.2 I still get the blue dot next to my unread text messages but it doesn't jump to the top of the list. I don't know if that is just how froyo works now or if it's an issue just on my phone.

I don't know what the problem is, but for some reason I've been getting like 5-10 duplicates of text messages from some people. It's usually different people at different times and it's on various carriers.

It started off with her gallery, when you try to go into the gallery it will kick you right back out into the launcher. I can use astro to get to her pics but any pics she takes now won't work. So then she went into her messaging app, all it does is cycle, it won't load up any messages at all.. I really don't know what's wrong with it, trying to avoid a factory reset if I can, but I will if it's my only option.

The only program I can see that could be causing it is SMS Pop Up, but I don't know if that is a culprit or has been known to do that.
