someone i know has an x, and he said he gets text messages from +1 numbers (they are people in his phonebook), and he cant reply to them, so he has to delete the thread and start over.anyone have any idea why this is, or how to fix it?

I'm new here and my Droid X is my first android phone. I was just wondering how do I check the number of txt messages I have as of right now? Me and friend txted each other a lot the first and second day I got it and i think i went through over 300 in 2 days. I just want to know like how to check the exact number, if i even can.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently created a new contact in my phone, entered their name, and messaged them with the default messenger. I then realized I entered the wrong phone number so I deleted the contact then created a new one using the same name but the correct phone number and texted them. Now, when they text me, it shows up in its own thread as if it came from the incorrect number I originally entered but when I reply I have to do so in a different thread that displays the correct number. In effect, this contact now has one thread for their incoming messages and one thread for their outgoing messages.
I've tried pulling my battery and SIM but that did nothing. I've tried deleting either or both of the threads and nothing. I've tried deleting them and pulling the battery and SIM afterward and nothing. I've found solutions for merging existing threads but that doesn't work at all for any new messages that are sent or received. It's a bit tedious having to go back and forth between threads just to talk to one person.
I made a app to block some junk messages. That app would delete the messages from the senders specified in the ban list. That app works in a way, but has some defects, as follows, 1. Sometime it just doesn't work, missing the new message to delete. 2. Even if it works deleting the message, a notification sound and message still occur. Therefore, could any improvement be made to 100% block messages without any notifications? Please check the codes below, and see what I can do.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor most contacts I have *82 in front of the number which will unblock my number because I have my caller ID blocked by default through Verizon. Because text messages will not work with *82 in front of the number I store the same contact without it and use that for texting.
My Droid when texting will sometimes replace the current number I am using with the *82 version even if I have deleted the *82 number for that contact. The only way I know this has happened is when the person I am texting says they did not received it or if I am texting someone who is also on Verizon network and the text delivery status will stay at pending.
when i go to compose a new text message and start typing a friends name.. their mobile number comes up twice..

View 4 Replies View RelatedI sold my htc Imago with the expectation that the guy I was buying a Droid X from would not super flake on me. Say Craig list! Anyway, I've been without a working device for a week now as I wait for my DX to arrive. I just check voice mail a couple times a day to make sure I'm not missing anything important. On the other hand, I have to imagine I have a serious back log of texts. A buddy of mine said he thought the DX (which my wife currently has) could be configured to retrieve texts from more than one account (phone number). Is that possible? Is there any other way to retrieve text messages other than with an activated device?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have recently been having issues with text messaging. About half of the texts that I try to send end up in a "pending" state. If you go to the factory messaging, and long press on a message, there is an option to "View Report" and that is where it has the pending status. I can't seem to figure out a rhyme or reason to this, but they don't actually get sent to the people I'm trying to send them to. Does anyone have any ideas? I've been fine with the stock messaging program, but would Handcent fix this? I'm up for trying anything at this point, as long as I can text and be sure the people are going to get them. BTW I was hoping the 2.0.1 update would fix this, but I force loaded the update and it's still doing it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted 2.2 DX, and on 2.1 when I got a new text it would jump to the top of the list with a blue dot next to it. Now ever since I upgraded to 2.2 I still get the blue dot next to my unread text messages but it doesn't jump to the top of the list. I don't know if that is just how froyo works now or if it's an issue just on my phone.

I don't know what the problem is, but for some reason I've been getting like 5-10 duplicates of text messages from some people. It's usually different people at different times and it's on various carriers.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI gave my wife my D2, did a factory reset on it beforehand. She's been playing on it now for almost a week with no problem until today..
It started off with her gallery, when you try to go into the gallery it will kick you right back out into the launcher. I can use astro to get to her pics but any pics she takes now won't work. So then she went into her messaging app, all it does is cycle, it won't load up any messages at all.. I really don't know what's wrong with it, trying to avoid a factory reset if I can, but I will if it's my only option.

The only program I can see that could be causing it is SMS Pop Up, but I don't know if that is a culprit or has been known to do that.
