which program is considered the easiest/best one to use for a complete noob? I get my phone tomorrow, and I want to be prepared for when it shows up! lol. That and I want to do some quality research before I start messing with it.Also, Im not sure I understand the difference between rooting and ROM.. Could someone point me to a link or give me a quick rundown? Do they go hand in hand? (rooting and ROMs)

I rooted me Droid X. I want to know if I can move the files:
busybox
su
Superuser.apk
To somewhere else other then at /sdcard? If so, where can I put them so everything till works?
Is there a way to edit original icons in photoshop without rooting the droid, or is rooting the way to go to change the icons.

I had a few questions that I saw on here, but I'm not 100% about.
1. Does this come with a cable to connect to the PC? The Eris's charger was both a charger and a cord to connect to the PC, really like this ability.
2. Does Droid have the ability to run Froyo WITHOUT rooting?
3. Can you comment on some things I may find annoying or cumbersome with the phone?
4. Can you comment on the benefits I will get?

View 9 Replies View RelatedOn my Droid 1 and Fascinate, I am able to program in my Voice Dial password and long press 1 on the dialer keypad to call voicemail and have my password entered automatically.I can still enter my password in the X's Menu, Settings, Call Settings, Voicemail Settings, Voicemail Number. However, the dialer that comes up when I press the shortcut icon I have setup in my LP dock brings up the Blur dialer? Whatever it is, the voicemail password does not get entered automatically and I have to still manually enter my password.Does anyone know how to get the VM password to enter automatically, or to disable the Blur dialer and get the stock Android dialer back?

View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I loaded the new release of froyo petes v.04 and earlier when trying to use the built in wired tether option it defaults to a web-page about upgrading to a tethering plan. It says that they are offering it for $5 off until july 15th. Wireless tether still works fine but just wanted to know if anybody else got this message when using the built in program on the new froyo release. I was able to use this option in the earlier versions of froyo without the message. Update, so I completely missed this already reported on phandroid so I guess I was just getting the message others have already reported.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI tried Home++ yesterday and didn't like it too much although I may just have to try it again. I didn't care for that "power strip" in Home++ either (can you turn it off?). I wished it would import all the icons from my regular home screen into Home++ so I don't have to re-create everything. Does anyone else out there have a better home screen replacement program? I saw people talking about GDE but I couldn't find the actual application in the Market Place. I also looked at the Panda Home but from the screen shots, it looked weird. I like the plain-jane version that came with my phone. I don't want fancy skins or colors or bells and whistles.

A number of folks are bricking and are unable to restore as there is no stable sbf (restoration program script) at this time. So, if you do update, understand that you're kinda like jumping without a parachute, at this point. Hopefully, it will change soon. So you fly at your own risk, newbie. As for me? I'm waiting. I have plenty enough stress in my own miserable life to add more! You know me, I've got the new rooter's backs.
