I just purchased my Droid and have lots of questions, especially why do emails keep coming back on even after empying the trash? This is so frustrating. Anyway, I love my Droid and am looking forward to learning a lot on this forum.

I have setup my yahoo account on my droid, and it is working, but is overworking. What is happening is I keep getting the emails over and over no matter how many times I delete them. I dont understand what I am doing wrong. It works but I delete the emails and they come again and again. I had to delete the account to stop the endless loop.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI don't use gmail app, I use normal email app like normal people who does not want to use 3 different email apps for 3 different accounts, so when I get an e-mail in Gmail and I delete it, it keeps coming back as new e-mail. When I open it it shows for a few seconds and then disappears, then new email count disappears. After I go back to using the phone new email appears again, then the same cycle..

Now, all of a sudden when I get a new email, it will say who the email is from, but when I open it, the body of the email is not from that person. It may be from someone elses email that morning or someone elses 1 week ago. But if I pull up my email on my laptop, everything is normal.

The problem is all old emails are continuously coming back to the device! she has deleted them both from the phone also from a regular pc and they come back still....I looked into the app called (k9) however it doesn't look like it supports smtp only Imap and pop3.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy DroidX has several pieces of bloatware from Verizon or Motorola. I don't mind giving up a little Ram space for them, but many are running all of the time. After you kill them they come back to life. Why does Music, Maps, SkypeMobile, CityId etc. need to run when I haven't even started them? I "assume" that they are just waiting until the end of a time period (an hour I hope rather than a second) to check if the need to "call home". If they are doing much they are eating battery time which isn't as good as I would like. I realize that I would have to root my Droid to remove the apps. Is there an easier ways to keep them from running?

View 9 Replies View RelatedFirst off let me say that I was wrong about this issue. Its not an issue with Easy root it is just something built into android. So I apologize to anyone I argued this subject with but specifically Patch. Its also not an issue with rom manager. This applys to users that after flashing a custom recovery they can boot into it once but the next time you try to boot into recovery it has reverted to stock.
This mostly happens to users of easy root or users that use my guide for rooting using Linux
So for the fix.
Download this file and place it in the root of your sd card.

Download Terminal Emulator from the market. The one by the dev Jack Palevich.
Open it and type the following commands.
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
dd if=/sdcard/install-recovery.sh of=/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
chmod 550 /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
sync
after that just flash the custom recovery of your choice and you should be good to go.
I tested this on my phone and another user tested it for me and it worked for both of us. If anyone has an issue let me know. This issue is so sporadic that its hard to have people test the fix.
When I got my new Eris, the Verizon guy offered to swap my contacts from my old phone to the new one (as usual). He did so. After getting home, I noticed he'd also downloaded all the accumulated contacts 9 mostly crap) from my Google Mail account as well. I went and deleted them all but now I keep getting a notification saying that I deleted TOO MANY? It then gives me three choices, one of which is delete them. The notification keeps coming back.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis seems to be because of 2.2, it didn't do it before the update. I have it set to "face book pop" but after awhile it goes back to "droid". It's not that big a deal but it sure is annoying. That "droid" tone was neat for like five minutes then got on my nerves so I changed to the more subdued noise. I wonder if anyone else is having this issue or maybe I'm doing something wrong.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a question regarding the mail feature of the Droid. I have three accounts setup. One Gmail, one Yahoo and one Hotmail (yep...I like all flavors).
I can send and receive mail without issue but for some reason with the Yahoo and the Hotmail account, the Droid will seem to pull "old" email back onto the device and mark it as new and light up the indicator. This gives then shows that I have new mail but it really isn't new but it is old, previously read email that has been deleted and pulled back onto the device.
Some how cities that I have never added show up on the weather widget. New York and Detroit come up often.
I delete them and they keep coming back.
I lost stock Android email app totally after installing Smoked Glass v.5.0.1.
before , i had v.4.5 and email worked like a champ. Tried to reinstall SG v.5.0.1 few times - no effect.
Anyone can suggest where to get and install back email app. Not really interested in getting from Market non-droid versions.
This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
Recently my Desire has started doing something odd.I put it in standby mode (i.e locked screen,screen dark etc - by pressing the power button once) and around 50% of the time when I press the power button once again to wake it up,the four buttons at below the screen light up,but the screen takes up to 5-10 seconds to come on!Has anyone else ever had this sort of thing happen?It's really intermittent and slightly concerning.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was testing my phone and found that if i JUST set it to sleep it will notify me of new emails. But i waited until it was asleep for over 25 min and i sent 2 emails from 2 different email accounts and neither one showed up on my phone until i unlocked it and hit airplane mode and then unchecked airplane mode. i have the mobile data set to always on. I do have only 1 bar at -99 signal strength. but if i turn on and off airplane mode the emails come right in after a prolonged sleep.

I am with verizon, so after i switched my sim card from my galaxy nexus to the new note 2, after few minutes, it keeps downloading / syncing some text messages. Suddenly out of nowhere these text messages appear with someone elses conversation. After few minutes some other contacts appear in my contacts list too. None i know.Reset the whole phone again, this time did not log into any account and the same thing happens.reset another time and this time, removed the sim card and connected with WiFi only and still all the stuff appeared.
Usually when I reset the phone to factory settings, it tuns off an on few times and acts weird for few minutes until all these messages and contacts appear.I have checked and i am not signed into any account?! Don't know how these text messages keep appearing
I have deleted a lot of my apps deleted mail (and it keeps coming back after being deleted.) This phone is a joke. I should of known better. the other 2 HTC's were pieces of CRAP!

Well... good news is SE apparently has realized they should not have dug too deep into the Android core, but just layer them over. It took them over 9 months to realize this? What will this signify for us, X10 owners? Is that their way of telling us, give up on X10, and get their next Android product?
I have an Android 4.0 tablet, set up email and when I delete some - put them in the trash, and them empty the trash, they're still there when I look in that folder again.

BTW, I have a Droid X and my daughter have the D2 (R2D2). I like the DX compared to the D2 and my upgrade plan is to get a global Droid phone. Hopefully, a Droid X Global is in the works.

It rarely makes a sound from the menu or search button. But the home and back make this sound if I push the button or if I lightly press down (halfway pushing the buttons).
Is this normal? Do you get this on your hero?
After looking at Verizon store, Best Buy, Target, and Dicks sporing goods.A salesperson at a Verizon Kiosk at the mall told me that Verizon is designing an armband for the Droid that should be available this spring.I looked through all the threads here, as well as at all the stores listed, and cannot find one that fits the Droid.Many different Iphone armbands are just a bit too small and do not fit the Droid.
