is anyone else having trouble in the application launcher where the applications arent sorting alphabetically? I can't figure out how to sort...I would have thought this was a default....not sure if it's because I restored my apps using MyBackUp Pro or not.

I have the Samsung Moment, and I've run into this problem with both the default Music app as well as MixZing. Haven't tried any others yet, though.
So, everything but about 3 (out of a few hundred, haha) songs is tagged properly and shows up under artist as one expects, sorts into the correct albums and all - but within albums the songs go alphabetically, rather than by track number.
Does anyone know how to make my songs actually show up in the correct album order instead of just alphabetical order? Kind of messes things up if you're trying to listen to a musical.
After a bit of fiddling I was able to sync my Outlook email, calendar and contacts. It looks great and I'm quite pleased except for one thing. The listing of my contacts is by first name then last. Unfortunately there does not seem to be any way to have the Droid reorder the contacts list by last name first. I've spoken with other Droid owners and they have no problem with first name then last, but for me it's a real time waster having to "find" a particular individual, as for many of them I don't know their first names, just last. Is there a way that I am unaware of to sort the contacts by last name first? Our IT guy discovered a work around, but it entails going through each of my contacts and changing the way the names are displayed in the "Full Name" category. For over 200 contacts this will take some time.

I do not see a way to sort my inbox by "From" to group those emails together. I got spoiled on my BB Storm being able to touch and hold the sender and it would sort all emails. Is there a way to do this on the Droid?
Also, when I go into my "Sent" folder, all emails are shown by the person that the emails are from, which is ME, impossible to see who I sent the email to and have to look at the subject and open the email to have any idea about the content. There's got to be a way to change this to view by who the email was sent to, which is usually what you're looking for anyway.
My HTC Hero lists my contacts alphabetically by first name. Short of inputting them last name first, can they be listed first name first and still come alphabetized by last name? i.e. Bill Smith before Ken Sorels and still be in a group with other people with "S" last names? Is this a procedure problem or is their an app for this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWith my old phone, MyTouch, Android 1.6, I would export a playlist from iTunes as an .m3u file, and copy that playlist file over to /sdcard/music/playlists so that it would be on my phone. I manually copy all of the music from the playlists into /sdcard/music so that every song that is in said playlists is in the music directory. The music app would take awhile to update and read everything, but once I gave it some time to work, everything worked wonderfully. That was all I had to do.
With my new phone, Incredible, Android 2.2, when I do the same steps, it doesn't work. I open the music app, go to the playlist option, and it thinks and thinks and thinks. Then each playlist will appear, alphabetically, and then disappear, until there are no playlists at all.
I read some forums online and have tried multiple things, and apparently Android 2.2 reads the SD card looking for music, and when reading a playlist, if it can't find any of the songs in the list, it deletes the playlist. The playlist is not only deleted from the list in the music app, but is completely deleted from the SD card entirely.
Here is my concern... When this playlist is exported, it has the path from C: on my computer, because that is where the music is housed on the computer. Moving it to my phone has never been a problem previously because it ignored the C: path and just found the song, without worrying about the additional directory information. But the newer version of Android isn't doing the same thing, I think it's more picky?
Anywho, I need my playlists! I don't want to use MediaMonkey, and the m3u files have worked fine in the past - quick and easy, without having to use additional programs. I really, really, REALLY don't want to have to go through these playlist files and remove all of the path information because these are huge lists, but I guess I might have to. Do you have any other ideas on what I can do to make this work?
I've tried different directories for the playlists on the phone - but I don't think that's the problem because the phone can SEE the playlists, and then deletes them. I've tried creating a playlist on the phone so that I could see the format of it, but the playlist that I created can't be found on the phone. I don't know how the phone creates them, or where it houses them, as I tried to search for it and was unsuccessful.
Im using LaunchePro Plus, installed it today, im loving it, i dont like how it organizes my apps in the drawer alphabetically, i would like to arrange them as i please, is that possible. How can i do it?
I have the Droid DNA and I want to sort my pics into folders. I tried the "move to" option and created a new folder. The new folder is nowhere to be found and now the pic iI wad trying to move is gone too.

Anyways, what I was wondering is if I put all my apps on my SD card, what happens when/if I reflash my ROM? Will I have to wipe the SD card, reinstall the Apps and reback them up top the SD card? Or does it install once the SD card with the programs is inserted?

How long are these applications supposed to stay off: Until I turn my phone back on again? Until I turn my display back on? I am trying to improve my battery life. I have turned off the background data and uninstalled the app killer. My display goes off after 30 seconds and I already have the brightness as low as it goes (I do this on every phone, I see no need to have a crazy bright screen).

I decided to go ahead and make the old droid call quality trick of switching to ERV-B, after which the phone resets. The weird part is that the battery came back to 70% after the reset.

If manual, do you keep a list of which apps you've got installed so that you can restore them more easily? Does anyone restore /data from 2.0.1? Or will that just cause more problems? I've used Astro in the past, but not for ROM purposes. And I've got Titanium installed, but have never used it. It seems like there are several options but I've yet to hear of any preferred option from anyone. Look forward to getting in on this ERE25 action!
How do you delete factory installed apps. I know how to delete downloaded apps, but I don't know about Amazon mp3 and about five other factory apps. Want them gone! How do you do that?

Today I installed a new app Vlingo and my apps disappeared off my home screen. I restored from 2 days ago, but I'm getting the same thing. The apps load at first, but within 5 minutes, they go away. Then, if I apply some apps on the now empty screens, they will be on top of the old ones when I reboot.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got the droid about a month or two ago and to date I love it. The ability to customize it and the applications available are amazing. My issue though is the force closures on several applications, the ones I've had issues with are handcent, homerun battle3d, visual voicemail and helix launcher. I may have left one or two out but those are the ones I could remember off the top of my head. I emailed the developer of handcent and they were very fast in responding to my email and we spoke over google talk today at length.
We were unable to figure out the problem for sure but after I did a factory reset, handcent now works again because I love this sms app! I'm not sure about homerun battle and helix cause I no longer use either, but the factory reset fixed visual voicemail as well. After doing the f.r and handcent working again, spoke to the developer again and was asked if I had any other sms apps on my phone. Now I did have chompsms on there at one point and I was advised that this is a possible reason for the f.c issues with handcent. If this is true I would like to ask you guys who are more tech savvy than I if I'm installing certain programs on my phone that are causing the force closes.
I have noticed that many of my applications seem to automatically close making the phone seem "slower" when I try to reopen recently opened applications. The main applications that I have noticed closing are Handcent and the home screen (extremely annoying when the home screen needs to reload randomly). I have Advanced Task Manager (put the items i dont want closed on exclude) and noticed that when i click refresh some of the items sometimes disappear. I've tried turning off Advanced Task Manager and still have the some issue...Here are some things to know about my droid:
Rooted, Running Bugless Beast v1.0 -
Running at up to 1ghz (tried lowering and didn't make a difference)
Using Helix Launcher 2 (tried switched to default home screen and also no difference)
