View 3 RepliesLooking at all the pros and cons from froyo got me wondering, how important is it to put the apps on the memory card? I was actually curious about saving some items in the phones internal memory, ie movies, etc.
View 14 Replies View RelatedThere's a route I take to my sisters place that is different than the Droid would have me drive. I swear I read or a friend told me there is a "save route" feature that once you finish driving your way, you can select which will help force it to take you that way in the future.
I can't find this, if it exists. No other GPS I've owned have had this feature, and I've often lamented, "wouldn't it be nice if it *knew* I wanted to take this road over that one." Only asking 'cause someone once told me this might be a feature. Am I way off or am I blind to finding it?
I looked at my friend's droid and it doesn't do this and I don't recall my first droid (which had other problems) doing this either. Also, the green/amber light doesn't come on when I'm charging my phone. Been trying to get a replacement from verizon but all the refurbished phones they've sent me have been worse off, eg. horrible connectivity, overheating, etc.

When you're typing and want to use the word you typed instead of the currently selected suggested word, how do you get rid of the suggested word list? (In particular I'm thinking of the Gmail app in landscape mode.)
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm a new Evo user. I loved the auto correct options on my BB. I like the auto correct of the evo, however the suggested words that pop up really distract me and slow me down. When I shut this option off, though, I can't seem to find any way to spell check or auto correct any words in texts, etc. Is there a way to keep the auto correct feature, but hide all the suggestions?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the same way a web or desktop app might have 3 or n tiers - UI, Business, Data for example - what is the suggested structure for an Android application? How do you group classes together, what layers do you have etc.? I'm just starting Androi dev (an internet based app that must respond to incoming notifications) and have no real feel for the structure I'm aiming at.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a ton of crap on my SD card, including old velocity information and I'm using Raptor so I don't think I need it. I was wondering if someone has or could create a list of the needed files on the SD card so I can delete the ones I don't need. I have folders for apps which I don't have on my phone anymore and i don't want to remove them if it is going to mess something up.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use the Yahoo mail android app (as well as gmail). When I create an email in the app and "click" in the "to" field and type a letter I get a whole raft of email address suggestions that are not in the contacts. I've looked in my phone contacts and they aren't there. I've looked at Yahoo mail settings and see nothing there. I've gone to the desktop Yahoo mail an tried looking in contacts there and they don't show up. Many of these are addresses of people that I recognize and have probably either sent or received an email from them but certainly never saved them as a contact. I tried long pressing on the suggested address and it highlights it but no options are given. It doesn't happen in my gmail. I've gone to URL...contacts and they don't show up there. I know I should just switch to gmail only but this is an old address that I want to keep active. I have a Moto X with Kitkat. This has followed me from phone to phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've downloaded the Swiftkey Keyboard and like it a lot but am a bit frustrated by the autocomplete concept they use. I guess there should be two options: autocorrect spelling mistakes I make and another option for autocompleting words I am trying to type. Too often I find that Swiftkey's "predicted" word option based on what I type is so far off that I end up sending a nonsensical message to people.

I'm aware that there is a lot of Android devices still on OS 1.5 or 1.6 so I'm thinking about require API level 3 as minimum to support them. What will I miss from 2.2? View 3 Replies View RelatedHi guys. So I'm going to root my phone, and to avoid any complications at all, I think I'm going to factory reset my phone. I heard that some apps (ie dropbox) can interfere with the root process so I'm just doing this so I don't get any complications. I'm making a list of all the things I should write down from my phone before I reset it.
So far, I have:
contacts
notes
passwords
apps
settings
I think I've found quite a serious problem with the Google maps for Android update that just came out late last week.I have a Latitude account, but I havent signed it in on this phone as I don't want battery and data being wasted updating my location, plus most of the time the whole location tracker thing is a bit Big Brother for me anyway. But after the update, one of my friends warned me that i had appeared on Latitude, and it turns out that the update signed me in there and set itself to automatically update my location. If this is happening to others, this represents a serious lapse at Google - it should be up to me to switch on the service, it should not automatically sign in - let alone automatically update my location! This phone has never prompted me to switch it on, and that is not acceptable. My location is a private matter and my battery life and data are precious, goddamnit.
View 24 Replies View RelatedIt bugs me that some phones are omitting the lanyard loops. Look at the Nexus One that doesn't have it: http://gizmodo.com/5451349/look-at-this-broken-nexus-one
iPhone didn't have it.
Pretty lame that some phones now are designed without this feature.
I'm using a Nexus One running 2.3.4 and it looks like the gmail app version is 2.3.4.2 and I've noticed they've now incorporated the 'Important Labels' functionality into the app.
Problem is, I don't like/use/desire the important labels and now they're cluttering up my inbox view with a little yellow chevron next to the sender's name and the 'go to inbox' in the menu has moved and where it was is a 'mark important'
I had a look through the settings and I don't have priority inbox as my default, under label's there is a sync option for 'Important' which is set to 'None'.
Also I don't have the important labels for the web version of gmail proper on.
I think I may have accidentally marked one email on my phone as important (because that's where the go to inbox button was) so perhaps that's why they are showing up?
Any way to turn off/hide the important labels. Really annoyed that Google is making me find out how to opt-out of this feature rather than just asking if I wanted to opt-in
I was looking thru the review of the droid x and i noticed that it has some pretty sweet social networking and news etc. widgets. does anyone know if we can get thos yet or and apks for em?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI know that I can put applications on my SD card now that the phone is rooted (very easily using Liquid Frozen Yogurt). Anyways, what I was wondering is if I put all my apps on my SD card, what happens when/if I reflash my ROM? Will I have to wipe the SD card, reinstall the Apps and reback them up top the SD card? Or does it install once the SD card with the programs is inserted?

View 10 Replies View RelatedThis was in the Android Forum News, but I wanted to link it here. For those who have received the OTA and/or forced the update, apparently, the update has caused the DROID to experience performance problems, particularly in the area of 2D apps. What used to return 60fps is now being halved (30fps). Here is the link to the article: Droid 2.1 Update Causing Performance Problems? | Android Phone Fans.
