Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Numbers Disappearing From Phonebook
Nov 9, 2010
I have had a problem for last couple of weeks - When I got the phone (around 2 months ago), I created all my main contacts, added their names, numbers and email addresses. So, at least a month goes by, but then one or two contacts start losing their phone numbers (the name and email address remains). I have tried everything from simply entering and saving the number again via the phone book and even adding the number from text messages sent by the person in question - each time I have ensured that I have clicked 'done' and/or the save symbol. I exit the phone book, but if I check back later it's been lost again. This seems to happen with only one or two particular contacts - I am not sure what is unique about them. Anyone got any ideas why this may be happening? I have read the manual re: phone book, so I am following all of the steps so I am not sure whether or not the phone has a fault.

I've got my X10 yesterday, and was transferring my phone book across. But i use to have one name with 2 number such as "mobile + home" .. but it only transfered one across, so i want to edit the contacts, but it's really slow so is there a way i can link my computer to edit my phone books like the nokia pc suit. because I've downloaded a pc companion which does nothing except updating and transferring files.

Have anyone figured out how to get some options when merging two contacts in Social Phonebook (I know it doesn't prompt for any, but any workarounds)Basically the annoying factor is this... When I have a "Phone Contact" with the name "ABCD" and "Facebook" contact of the same person with "BCDE", after merging, phonebook starts to display as "BCDE" and not "ABCD" and to worsen, though I edit it manually to display the name I like, it doesn't.

I've just re-installed the software on my X10 and accidentally reset everything and lost all nicely edited contacts! I have reimported my contacts from the SIM, but these are in a mess and need a lot of editing. Is there anyway to edit the phonebook contacts via my PC rather than through the phone interface. It takes ages doing it one by one on the actual phone..

I can't seem to figure out how to delete, "unjoin" or in any way modify contacts on the social phonebook if they're from Facebook.
This is no good, because I have fat fingers.
I have managed, in my clumsiness to join two contacts together that should not be. The unholy matrimony is causing me great distress, and I wish to undo what I have done.
To clarify, I've accidentally joined two contacts together, and can now neither delete the new merged contact, nor "unjoin" them.
I've tried turning the facebook and google sync off and reloading the backup I made from 1.6. All to little or no avail.
And by "little to no avail" I actually mean it didn't work at all.
Anyone know some super-secret insider knowledge on how to fix this shizzle?
Also, simply saying "run a repair on the phone to restore it back to factory 2.1" is no good, as I am highly likely to do this sort of stuff on a psuedo-regular basis.

After updating to 2.1 I noticed something new in the Phonebook. Short pressing on a contact gave 3 icons regarding that contact; call, text and one other I can't remember. Since then I've re-installed the old apps including ADW launcher and now these 3 icons are nowhere to be found. How I can get these icons back?

i have a X10. I had loaded all of my contacts from BB via BT (weeks ago). Yesterday I noticed that all my contacts disappeared. Just says: "no contacts". The last thing I remember I did was an update to google maps (it took forever to load and yet the application does not work) The other key piece of info is that I use DME for corporate data syncing, emails etc.

I got my 2.1 update this week in Belgium. As i was synchro'ing my facebook contacts in my phonebook, i noticed that my phone doesn't sync all my contacts with facebook. Wen i tried to do this manually per contact, some fb persons do not appear in my "choose contact" list however the contact has the same name in my phone as on facebook ? It appears that the sync is random in choosing the contacts and some contacts'fb profile don't appear if u do the sync manually ? Anyone with the same problem? Example: a friends name is Bianca in my phone, on her facebook profile the same name followed by familyname, but my phone doesn't find her profile when i search manually.

I have just purchased the X10 this week and its all up to date with software however I am having major issues with phonebook. Whenever I try and add contacts to my favorites in phonebook they only stay there for a few seconds before they vanish. When viewing call log if I try and save a number by adding a contact again this will do it for only a few seconds and then just delete the contact.
Facebook links on the contacts aren't coming through and painfully slow to link all the address book up. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it? I have downloaded a different version of phonebook but I didn't think it looked as good as the default and want to make the normal one work.

For some weird reason my phonebook stopped working today. When I clicked on the name, instead of loading up the contacts details, it just froze. When I help the name for a while, a menu would pop up and as soon as I entered view contact details, it forced closed. I deleted the app, in the hopes that I could re-install it from Titanium, but that didn't happen. I've checked the market but cant seem to find it. I don't have to go through the entire root procedure again?

I am saving contacts on my Xperia X10 and am not sure if they are saving to phone or the SIM card? How can u tell where they are being stored? Just now I am going into phonebook and selecting new contact from the sub menu once I hit the key on the left it then displays.
First and Last
Phone Number
Email Address etc.
I take it this will store details to phone memory? Is there a way I can store contact only to SIM card and if so how?

Seems I just lost all my phonebook... the only reason I think it could have happened is because I cleared data regarding my google sync adress? Is this the case? There was a message mentionning i would lose data if I do so, but why is my phonebook that is normally on my sim card disappeared since I re adjusted google sync? This is ridiculous, lost years of contacts... please tell me there is a way to get my phonebook back... and that there is no link with what I did with Google sync...

I got my X10 on a new contract (with 3 UK) and got a new mobile number with it. I then ported my existing number over with a PUK code. This took a couple of days, and while I was waiting I mucked about with the phone using the new number that 3 had given me. After the PUK transfer took place, my X10 still thinks that "My number" in the phonebook is the new number that 3 UK gave me, not the one I subsequently ported across.
So, if I go into the phonebook the bit at the top where it says "My number" is wrong. I can edit that default contact, but there's no option to edit the main phone number for it - all I can do is add extra numbers. I've been digging around a bit, and I found the phone number set in Settings > About phone > Status. Again, it can't be edited here. It's also viewable (but not editable) through the Service menu (#*#*4636*#*#). It's not a big deal, but it's annoying because it doesn't recognise "me" in Timescape when looking at messaging conversations with someone (on the Infinity button). So far all SE support have said is the standard "check you've got an up-to-date SIM card" (which I have, and which is what they always say when they're trying to get rid of someone).

I lost most of my contacts on update to 2.1. BUT - there is this facebook sync thing that looks really cool.
I tried this, and now, opening my Phonebook shows all my facebook friends with their facebook profile pic, and number (if they have entered one on facebook). Sweet! Less work for me!
BUT - a lot of my facebook friends do not put their number on their profile, so I need to add the number for these Phonebook contacts. However, there seems to be no way of adding a phone number for them; and these people do not appear when I want to select a contact to send a text to? What is that all about? How do you add phone numbers to contacts that were synced in through facebook, so you can then select them when you want to call or text them?

I'm using Xperia x10 mini. Whenever I try to add a contact to my phonebook, before clicking save this message appears: "The process android.process.acore has stopped unepectedly. Please try again." And I have no other choice but to click "force close"... Another thing is, even though my contacts' names appears in the messages in my inbox, when I click on the phonebook icon, the phonebook is empty...
