Motorola Droid :: Want Plain Vanilla Froyo
Jun 17, 2010I haven't rooted. I am willing to root to get 2.2 FroYo. Rooting kinda frightens me. I semi waited for 2.1. I downloaded the file from this form and manually applied it rather than wait for Verizon to send it to me. I want a plain Vanilla FroYo. Am I better off waiting for the official verizon release?

Sep 28, 2010I'll admit, I don't know much about rooting at all, so i've been lurking around here getting an idea of how to go about it. I'm pretty tech savvy, so it's nothing over my head, I'm just unfamiliar with it.I'm really unhappy with Motorola's latest droid x update. Updating to Froyo seems to have just made my phone significantly slower, the rotation is less responsive, etc. (the 2.3.15 update) All I would really want to do is, I'd want to root the phone and just load a stock Froyo ROM onto here. No extra moto or verizon BS, just the stock OS and whatever apps I want on it. Does that make sense? How would I go about doing that?

Aug 30, 2010I would like to try the Fresh Rom because of 4g and I hear it has excellent battery life. However, HTC (in their infinite wisdom) has decided that we really don't need a way to toggle bluetooth on or off during a call and has removed that button from their dialer. Bluetooth, what's that? A bluetooth toggle to be used during a call? No one would need that, let's code it out on purpose! Ok, enough ranting. Is there a way to get the vanilla froyo dialer on a Fresh (sense-based) ROM?

Jun 22, 2010I am a huge fan of the Fresh builds by Flipz over at Geek For Me - Sprint Evo 4g & CDMA Hero. I have a proposal for a new build (once able, of course) and wanted your guys opinions. I think most of us agree the best part of HTC's 'sense' is the widgets. HTC designed the Sense UI back in Android 1.5 days and it's a bit dated. The Froyo version of the Picture Gallery, Music Player, Dialer, App Drawer and Lock Screen are far superior to the Sense iterations. I think this would be the best build on the EVO: I'm talkin' the actual Froyo build here, not something that 'looks like' Froyo, not the HTC build with Sense disabled (still keeps the HTC Music, Gallery, Dialer, Lock screen etc.). I'm talkin' the full whammy, 'extra pickles' awesomeness. Code...

Sep 3, 2010Read in the past where things weren't working such as camera, bluetooth, GPS, LED notifications, etc. And then I stopped paying attention for about a month But now, my phone is bugging me every 30 minutes that an update is available, so I either have to move to stock 2.2 or something else, so would much rather have vanilla. So was just wondering if there are any vanilla Froyo builds with everything working? I see that two of them are in RC status, but are they stable enough to use without major headaches?

Sep 3, 2010The reason why I am asking this is because I want to set myself up for the vanilla rom. From what I have read, the blur messaging us taken out. (Obviously) but despite its ugliness, I just love the fact that I can send video and if its too big, it redirects me to edit length. I am currently running handcent and handcent does not redirect me to video edit lite. So my question is what messaging ap will allow me to send videos the same way the stock app does? Another thing is that I can't even view videos sent to me from handcent, and almost every mms is sent as a slideshow (on both messaging apps). Is there any way around that?

Oct 8, 2010I am not a big fan of the stock Droid X lockscreen, however I do like the regular Vanilla Lockscreen. Over on XDA I found some dark vanilla lockscreen sliders and decided to mod them for my Droid X.
As of right now I haven't added a vibrate icon with the right slider. Sliding from right to left will either turn sound on, or turn on vibrate mode. Also they are only supported in portrait mode.
Also I am not responsible for any and all damage this may do to your phone/device, neither is wjddesigns.com.

1. No app-to-SD function
2. No flash (not even flash-lite)
3. Apparently no live wallpaper from Sony (does that mean we won't get Live Wallpaper at all?)
pparently the update will be PC based only.
Well... good news is SE apparently has realized they should not have dug too deep into the Android core, but just layer them over. It took them over 9 months to realize this? What will this signify for us, X10 owners? Is that their way of telling us, give up on X10, and get their next Android product?
Motorola Droid X :: Global Coming Out Soon (With 1.2 GHz CPU)
Oct 18, 2010Since the Droid 2 Global is coming out soon. I think a Droid X Global (w/ the 1.2GHz CPU) will be the real killer here. Anyone thinks so, too? BTW, I have a Droid X and my daughter have the D2 (R2D2). I like the DX compared to the D2 and my upgrade plan is to get a global Droid phone. Hopefully, a Droid X Global is in the works.

Now, all of a sudden when I get a new email, it will say who the email is from, but when I open it, the body of the email is not from that person. It may be from someone elses email that morning or someone elses 1 week ago. But if I pull up my email on my laptop, everything is normal.

Motorola Droid :: Top LED Not Coming On With Ultimate Phone / Fix It
Mar 25, 2010I just flashed UD v8 last night and got into the LED hack and adjusted my settings so that when I dock it all LEDs turn off. Cool and the gang. Except now when I get an email or text message I don't get the blue or green flashing LED in the top right like normal. I actually love this cuz I can tell if I have an email/sms without powering up out of sleep mode. Granted, that isn't that big a deal, but I like my damn LED.
Anyone experiencing this or have any ideas on a fix?
Motorola Droid X :: Freezes Up Verizon Say New Update Coming
Sep 24, 2010My phone freezes up at least 6 times a day after the update. I have to do a battery pull to get it going again. I did a factory reset and formatted the sd card same thing happens. I called Verizon and they said they are having lots of calls from people with the same issue and a new software update will be coming out to fix it. She said that if they sent me a new phone it would have the same issue. Has any one else been told this?

Jan 23, 2010Well, from all the reading I have been doing about this 2.1 upgrade, it appears it was all a hoax, and a good one at that, but my concern was that somewhere I read that Adobe Flash wasn't being introduced until 2.1 was released, do you see where I am going with this, that I and probably many more, don't know what to believe any more. Does anyone have factual information on the release of Adobe Flash, for if they truly are waiting for an upgrade, then we can be waiting for a long time.

It's like that part is not properly secured to the backplate.Could someone else attempt this for me.
