View 4 Replies View RelatedI have finally figured out how to get the Vanilla MMS app ported for us 2.1 leakers that can't root. Thanks to jonasl over at XDA for helping me figure this out. Took some time.Problems that I have with it:Every time someone sends you a message, it sends 2. It only notifies you of one, but two show in the thread. I'm trying to fix it.That's it so far, let me know of any you come across and I'll see what I can do.

How come I never heard of this coming to our faithful Original Droids? What does this update come with that FRG22D (rooted) doesn't? Is it worth the trouble to upgrade and re-root?
I am new at this so please excuse my ignorance on rooting. I am wanting to go from stock 2.1 to rooted 2.2. How exactly do I do this? can use the easy root app?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI have SetCpu, and I seen you can only take it up to 800Mhz max. Is this because that is all the stock Rom can do? Or am I missing
View 2 Replies View RelatedIts a simple question. I don't want to know why or why not, just if you are or aren't rooted.
View 49 Replies View RelatedAll files needed are available on my web site: Android - whiterabbit.org unless you still need to root your phone or downgrade to 2.0.1, the files needed for that will be linked to from those guides. The purpose of installing this way is to use the original OTA updates from Google, and only modify them enough to have root access. When you are done, you will have a system that is capable of installing the next OTA (gingerbread) when it arrives. Hopefully we will be able to patch it in the same way to keep root. This is only for people who don't want to run custom roms, but still want to have root.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm currently rooted (Easy Root) on a stock ROM D1 (2.2 FRG01B) and I receivced an OTA update this morning - most likely FRG22D. I've made a nandroid back up and a ROM backup before I made any changes. So far, I've only removed some of the bloatware from the stock ROM - 5 or 6 programs.Do I unroot, install the update and reroot? Is it that easy? Or do I have to install one of the backups?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWanted to know how many people were going to go back to stock for 2.2 vs staying rooted.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering what everyone's opinion is regarding the BBV0.4 and the rooted stock FRG22. I have had BBV0.4, 928 black glass theme, running @ 1.1GHz for a while now and I have no complaints. Would it be worth it to switch to the stock rooted FRG22, or wait for the devs to put out custom ROMs based on FRG22. I know they put some nice tweaks in the custom ROMs. I'm feeling the itch to switch, but I don't want to do it for no real advantages.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a quick question. A friend and I were discussing whether the Droid underclocks automatically when stock.
We are both rooted and on CM nightlies, however, after experiencing some instability, he suggested bumping my lower speed limit from 250 to 500. I'm still in the process of testing if that resolves the problem.
Question:
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could provide me with conclusive proof that the Droid does (or doesn't) underclock itself when stock (i.e. without the assistance of setCPU).
Let me rephrase my question:
Does the stock Android OS adjust the processor frequency dynamically as needed (like setCPU does). If so, to what degree (i.e. 250-550 MHZ as needed)?
I am new to this whole droid scene and I had 2.0.1 rooted and rommed out but I am currently running stock 2.1 and wanted to know if there is any info on the progress of a new root process to root this firmware version. I really liked having the ability to control all aspects of my phone, including the nandroid recovery. I don't want to risk bricking my phone by trying to revert back to 2.0.1 using the RSD program.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHey everyone, just rooted my wifes Droid this morning (which was on 2.1 OTA update) with the .sbf recovery via RSDlite, then I used OMJ's update.zip to install superusers. Everything went perfect, however, now I am having trouble finding a kernel that will work. Have tried P3s and jdflg's which say they are for 2.1 but neither booted.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe title pretty much says it all. i'm currently rooted running a 2.2 rom. if i update to the stock 2.2 this week will it do anything to my phone or will it be running as it should?
i have never got everything working quite right with this rom and would like to go back to stock (once its 2.2 anyway) and not have to worry about the hassle.
I was wondering if any1 has made a revolution theme for stock rooted droids. I was running cm 6 with revolution theme remix but the battery was horrible at even 550 speeds. I really like the themes but hate the battery life of roms.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo can I factory reset to go to stock after I installed bootstrapper and removed bloat after rooting? The issue is that the wall charger is not working while the usb charging works. I think it may have something to do with something I removed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAs the title suggests, is there a way to get the vanilla lock screen without rooting? And I dont mean using a 3rd Party App like Lockbot.
View 1 Replies View Relatedits not that bad but in all honesty, I found it to be pretty bland and boring (almost ugly). It also lacks many nice features found on other phones with manufactuer overlays, (This is probably the biggest reason why they put those overlays on top of stock android). Obviously the best thing about it of course is the quicker updates (in most cases). But other than that, my experience with stock was not too fun compared to using now Launcher Pro overtop of just plain stock and even now over TW (I know, i know, people hate TW).
Just had to put this out there. (At work TBC)

I've been lookin @ this forum for a while now and now i decided to join! I was just wondering what apps (on rooted droids) make big difference than the stock droids? also, is there any great performance upgrade on the rooted droids?
View 18 Replies View RelatedIs there a recommendation for a 'relatively straight forward' ROM that's not over the top but provides for the overclock while active/under clock while sleeping? I am considering rooting, but that's only the tip of the iceburg. Picking a decent ROM is next - and I really don't want to grab anything hairy.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI haven't rooted. I am willing to root to get 2.2 FroYo. Rooting kinda frightens me. I semi waited for 2.1. I downloaded the file from this form and manually applied it rather than wait for Verizon to send it to me. I want a plain Vanilla FroYo. Am I better off waiting for the official verizon release?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'll admit, I don't know much about rooting at all, so i've been lurking around here getting an idea of how to go about it. I'm pretty tech savvy, so it's nothing over my head, I'm just unfamiliar with it.I'm really unhappy with Motorola's latest droid x update. Updating to Froyo seems to have just made my phone significantly slower, the rotation is less responsive, etc. (the 2.3.15 update) All I would really want to do is, I'd want to root the phone and just load a stock Froyo ROM onto here. No extra moto or verizon BS, just the stock OS and whatever apps I want on it. Does that make sense? How would I go about doing that?

View 49 Replies View RelatedThe reason why I am asking this is because I want to set myself up for the vanilla rom. From what I have read, the blur messaging us taken out. (Obviously) but despite its ugliness, I just love the fact that I can send video and if its too big, it redirects me to edit length. I am currently running handcent and handcent does not redirect me to video edit lite. So my question is what messaging ap will allow me to send videos the same way the stock app does? Another thing is that I can't even view videos sent to me from handcent, and almost every mms is sent as a slideshow (on both messaging apps). Is there any way around that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am not a big fan of the stock Droid X lockscreen, however I do like the regular Vanilla Lockscreen. Over on XDA I found some dark vanilla lockscreen sliders and decided to mod them for my Droid X.
As of right now I haven't added a vibrate icon with the right slider. Sliding from right to left will either turn sound on, or turn on vibrate mode. Also they are only supported in portrait mode.
Also I am not responsible for any and all damage this may do to your phone/device, neither is wjddesigns.com.
I am rooted and wondering if there is an easy way to ditch the stock apps I don't need?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI rooted my Droid Eris 2 days ago and have had multiple problems with it. The first problem was it wasn't receiving a signal at all. The 2nd problem I had was after I had wiped my device flashed the ROM and rebooted it kept saying htc.touch.input.app has encountered a problem and i had to force close it. Now it is not letting me get in to the stock messaging app to read any texts.
