View 1 Replies View RelatedI'll admit, I don't know much about rooting at all, so i've been lurking around here getting an idea of how to go about it. I'm pretty tech savvy, so it's nothing over my head, I'm just unfamiliar with it.I'm really unhappy with Motorola's latest droid x update. Updating to Froyo seems to have just made my phone significantly slower, the rotation is less responsive, etc. (the 2.3.15 update) All I would really want to do is, I'd want to root the phone and just load a stock Froyo ROM onto here. No extra moto or verizon BS, just the stock OS and whatever apps I want on it. Does that make sense? How would I go about doing that?
View 8 Replies View Relatedits not that bad but in all honesty, I found it to be pretty bland and boring (almost ugly). It also lacks many nice features found on other phones with manufactuer overlays, (This is probably the biggest reason why they put those overlays on top of stock android). Obviously the best thing about it of course is the quicker updates (in most cases). But other than that, my experience with stock was not too fun compared to using now Launcher Pro overtop of just plain stock and even now over TW (I know, i know, people hate TW).
Just had to put this out there. (At work TBC)

Is there a recommendation for a 'relatively straight forward' ROM that's not over the top but provides for the overclock while active/under clock while sleeping? I am considering rooting, but that's only the tip of the iceburg. Picking a decent ROM is next - and I really don't want to grab anything hairy.
View 20 Replies View RelatedSo I got xtrROM 3.1 Beta and I love everything about it except the Vanilla Messaging app... I like it way better than the sense one... So is there anyway I can get it onto my phone without having to flash a different one? I know there was a port to of it for non root phones but supposedly it was having a bug that would make each message appear twice... so I don't want to deal with that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI haven't rooted. I am willing to root to get 2.2 FroYo. Rooting kinda frightens me. I semi waited for 2.1. I downloaded the file from this form and manually applied it rather than wait for Verizon to send it to me. I want a plain Vanilla FroYo. Am I better off waiting for the official verizon release?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOK so if you use POP3 on several computers to get gmail, you may be familiar with this. Basically it makes it so every client gets your email. Anyhow heres my problem, freakin PoS default android email will not recognize it as a correct username. Is anyone familiar with this? Know a better email client than the default (and don't suggest K-9 please, I'm currently using it and hate it). I wish someone would get the HTC mail app to work on vanilla.

View 49 Replies View RelatedThe reason why I am asking this is because I want to set myself up for the vanilla rom. From what I have read, the blur messaging us taken out. (Obviously) but despite its ugliness, I just love the fact that I can send video and if its too big, it redirects me to edit length. I am currently running handcent and handcent does not redirect me to video edit lite. So my question is what messaging ap will allow me to send videos the same way the stock app does? Another thing is that I can't even view videos sent to me from handcent, and almost every mms is sent as a slideshow (on both messaging apps). Is there any way around that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am not a big fan of the stock Droid X lockscreen, however I do like the regular Vanilla Lockscreen. Over on XDA I found some dark vanilla lockscreen sliders and decided to mod them for my Droid X.
As of right now I haven't added a vibrate icon with the right slider. Sliding from right to left will either turn sound on, or turn on vibrate mode. Also they are only supported in portrait mode.
Also I am not responsible for any and all damage this may do to your phone/device, neither is wjddesigns.com.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've changed my Moto Droid to the Droid Incredible, I will miss and keep Moto Droid in my heart. (It also made me realize iPhone was just a platonic relationship). I'm selling it off to offset cost. It's already deactivated, I've been trying to use the Rom Manager to download a stock image but it keeps failing, apparently it doesn't want to use Wifi (tried in airplane mode too). Even then the version it downloads is rooted. I'd like to reset/wipe the phone down to 2.1 or 2.0.1 and a way to make sure OTA will work when it gets activated. How can I do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWell my Droid quit charging, the only time I can get it to charge is when I hold the charger into my phone at a certain angle, same thing I gotta do when I flash sbf with rsd lite onto my Droid. I'm gonna miss this thing. But hopefully, with warranty, I'll have a brand new one in my pocket by this evening. What's funny about it is, I'm planning on getting the Droid x when it comes out. Lol, so I guess I'll have a basically brand new Droid to get rid of when the time comes. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo my Droid's screen recently stopped working and I'm getting an exchange with Verizon. I have to send my dead phone back once I get the new one, and am concerned about the fact that it's rooted running Froyo. I'd like to restore the nandroid backup I made of stock 2.1. Can somebody give me advice on how to do this with a dead screen? Perhaps from the command line on my computer via USB, or perhaps the key strokes to do it in nandroid so I can replicate it by feel?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI think this phone is the best one on the market regarding hardware, but I am a bit concerned about its software.
I have a N1 and if I can put Froyo (when Froyo gets released) without all that crap Samsung adds up to it I'd buy one.
Even better if I could have Cyanogen 6 (which will probably be based on Froyo).
So, any news about rooting this phone?
Is it possible to theme the htc dialer to look more vanilla? i'd like to try a vanilla rom, but the htc dialer just annoys me with the way it runs up against the white notification bar (with the rounded edges that go into black corners).

I have finally figured out how to get the Vanilla MMS app ported for us 2.1 leakers that can't root. Thanks to jonasl over at XDA for helping me figure this out. Took some time.Problems that I have with it:Every time someone sends you a message, it sends 2. It only notifies you of one, but two show in the thread. I'm trying to fix it.That's it so far, let me know of any you come across and I'll see what I can do.
