HTC EVO 4G :: What Roms Offer Vanilla Froyo Besides CM6?
Aug 27, 2010Love CM6 but hate not having wimax. Need vanilla Froyo.

Love CM6 but hate not having wimax. Need vanilla Froyo.
I would like to try the Fresh Rom because of 4g and I hear it has excellent battery life. However, HTC (in their infinite wisdom) has decided that we really don't need a way to toggle bluetooth on or off during a call and has removed that button from their dialer. Bluetooth, what's that? A bluetooth toggle to be used during a call? No one would need that, let's code it out on purpose! Ok, enough ranting. Is there a way to get the vanilla froyo dialer on a Fresh (sense-based) ROM?
View 6 Replies View RelatedRead in the past where things weren't working such as camera, bluetooth, GPS, LED notifications, etc. And then I stopped paying attention for about a month But now, my phone is bugging me every 30 minutes that an update is available, so I either have to move to stock 2.2 or something else, so would much rather have vanilla. So was just wondering if there are any vanilla Froyo builds with everything working? I see that two of them are in RC status, but are they stable enough to use without major headaches?
View 22 Replies View RelatedMods please feel free to move this if it's not in the right section. I'm running skyraider 3.0 rc2 vanilla and love it so far. There are only a couple of things that I miss from stock sense. The one that I am after is a bookmark widget. I can't find any on the market. This got me thinking about widgets in general. There should be a list of widgets somewhere for people going to vanilla Roms. Is there such a list anywhere? We need one similar to the rooted apps thread. Just a thought. And if someone has any thoughts on a bookmark widget, that would be awesome. Or would the stock one work and where can I find it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI haven't rooted. I am willing to root to get 2.2 FroYo. Rooting kinda frightens me. I semi waited for 2.1. I downloaded the file from this form and manually applied it rather than wait for Verizon to send it to me. I want a plain Vanilla FroYo. Am I better off waiting for the official verizon release?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am a huge fan of the Fresh builds by Flipz over at Geek For Me - Sprint Evo 4g & CDMA Hero. I have a proposal for a new build (once able, of course) and wanted your guys opinions. I think most of us agree the best part of HTC's 'sense' is the widgets. HTC designed the Sense UI back in Android 1.5 days and it's a bit dated. The Froyo version of the Picture Gallery, Music Player, Dialer, App Drawer and Lock Screen are far superior to the Sense iterations. I think this would be the best build on the EVO: I'm talkin' the actual Froyo build here, not something that 'looks like' Froyo, not the HTC build with Sense disabled (still keeps the HTC Music, Gallery, Dialer, Lock screen etc.). I'm talkin' the full whammy, 'extra pickles' awesomeness. Code...
View 21 Replies View RelatedI'll admit, I don't know much about rooting at all, so i've been lurking around here getting an idea of how to go about it. I'm pretty tech savvy, so it's nothing over my head, I'm just unfamiliar with it.I'm really unhappy with Motorola's latest droid x update. Updating to Froyo seems to have just made my phone significantly slower, the rotation is less responsive, etc. (the 2.3.15 update) All I would really want to do is, I'd want to root the phone and just load a stock Froyo ROM onto here. No extra moto or verizon BS, just the stock OS and whatever apps I want on it. Does that make sense? How would I go about doing that?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe one thing I just couldn't get to work was Navigation in Froyo ROMs. It would always get stuck at "Searching for GPS." Well on xda, a fellow member told me to flash the new CFS kernal from Conap ) So this is what I did to finally get the Navigation to work!
1. Reboot into recovery and make a Nandroid backup just in case.
2. Wipe Dalvik cache
3. Flash new CFS kernal [GPL]2.6.29.6 CFS Kernel 9/4/10 - xda-developers(There is also a BFS kernal which is only if you want high benchmarks, CFS is for overall stability)
4. Once rebooted, clear the data of Maps in Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
5. Open up Maps and put in directions to an address, then click Navigate.
6. Once Navigation is up and running, it will get stuck at "Searching for GPS." Make a sandwich, wash dishes, etc.
7. Sooner or later it will get pass the "Searching for GPS" stage. (It took 15 minutes for me)
8. Navigation should be working instantly now, back out of Navigation, try a new address, and Navigation should instantly work without having to go through "Searching for GPS."
If I use on of the roms will I be able to keep all the contacts and apps on my rooted 2.1? If not how do I back it up.This would be extremely helpful.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAre there any Froyo roms out there that have sense? I'm running KaosFroyo and while it is nice and quick, and has had little bugs, I'm still a big fan of the Sense UI.So anything available? I've been searching here and xda and can't find what I'm looking for.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to determine how much better my battery life is based on non-scientific normal everyday usage. I installed Sky Raider 1.9 on my phone. Charged two of my extra stock 1300mAH batteries to 100% and have been running them on the phone. Will restore back to my stock ROM and try the same and see the difference. What have you guys found? Aren't we supposed to see improved battery with Froyo?
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo I currently have Cyanogen Tazz v4 installed and I'm loving it. I understand that there probably won't be a fix for the Froyo camera issue until there's a new kernel so I'm fine with using Camera Magic as a stand by. My only issue is I'm a big Gowalla user and I've just recently been able to upload photos using my Eris, there's been a known problem with it for a few months now. What I want to know is how do I make Camera Magic my default camera for all camera related actions? I see in the settings where I can set it as default and it is checked but when I pick Take Photo in Gowalla I only get the options of Camera (the stock not working camera) and Camera 360 (also not working). Anyone have any ideas?

View 4 Replies View RelatedLike the the post says my wireless tether no longer works( at leat not fast ) with any of my 2.2 nandroid backup I have all the wireless thether downloads ( the 2.0.2 and all the 2.0.5 versions ) and they just stoped transfering or transfer really slow. By slow I mean it will take anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute sometimes longer for a page to load. This is the case with all my 2.2 roms Damage Control 3.5, Baked Snack 1.0 and 1.5, Fresh 3.something and even my stock 2.2 rooted rom. This is the case with any kernel and I have been using various Kings, (but tend to stick with Netarchy's kernels) All with the same problem. Everything else works flawlessly.
This wouldnt be a big deal except I use wireless tether everyday for homework so it is a must have for me. I had to use the tether feature on my wifes Palm Pre (you know how that made me feel) I have her phone overclocked to 800mhz and it felt as if her battery was going to melt or explode, which usuall happens if you use it for too long. I had to get an Ice pack and put a towel on it to keep the phone cool while tethering.
I even tried it with flashing new room and kernel and the only app being all the versions of the wireless tether. That still was a no/go.
I however did find a solution but not a good one. I had a nandroid back up of a HTC 2.1 stock rooted rom with Nand unlocked and with the FPS un capped. This however when I look for wireless networks to connect to on my computer, it shows up as 3computer connected together instead of the 5 escalating bars like in the att comercials (dont ban me for that)
but it works perfectly and lightning fast. The version I'm usuing is the 2.0.2 version not any of the 2.0.5 versions.
I know this is a bit drawn out but can anyone explain why this happened? I mean it worked one night and the next it didnt. Or can someone can someone explain why it works on 2.1 and not on 2.2?
I miss some of my 2.2 feature but there are none that I can't live without but I would like to be on the latest software version.
Sorry if this sounds a little noobish, but is it safe to run any of these new roms without the SBF of Froyo? What happens if you brick the phone while running 2.2 OTA trying to flash?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I'm not sure if any of you have been reading or trying out some of the SetCPU values a fellow over at XDA is suggesting. Froyo ROMs increase your battery life! try this (UPDATE 08/26/2010) - xda-developers. Basically, whatever you want your max to be (700+ish) and setting the min down to 19 (lowest it can go).
I remember reading something about it not being good to have your CPU jumping 300+ Mhz, which it clearly would be doing with these values. I would ask over there, but that place kind of scares me Just wondering if any of the fine, intelligent folks over here have any advice on this. I would love for my eris to idle at 19200 but not at the cost of my battery and/or the phone itself.

I use Slacker and Pandora every day in my car on the ride to and from work, via bluetooth.Every Froyo rom I've tried (CM 6 alpha, the straight FRF57, FRF84, etc) sounds terrible. Its like the highs and lows are WAY overboosted and distorted.Because this has been common to every rom I've tried to date, and it is always fixed by reverting to my rooted 2.1, I usually do that. But I'm tired of missing out on flash and chrome-to-phone. Is there a sound fix?
