After reading that 2.1 is "supposed" to drop this week, I have a rooted droid running Beast 7.4 which has the OTA disabled. Is there a way to get the phone back to being able to receive the update without wiping all my text/e-mail/call logs/pics? I'm guessing it would require moving to a different ROM or just back to the original 2.0.1 update...but I'm not clear how to do it. If anyone can post a link or explain it in non-Linux lingo, I would greatly appreciate it! I just don't want to have to revert back to the original 2.0.1 and lose everything...don't care about the apps because I can just re-install those.

Especially when looking at full page views, the text is just too small to read. Solution?
1. Press Menu in browser.
2. Press More.
3. Press Settings.
From there, you'll see Text size as your first option and then simply switch it from "Normal" to Large or Huge. I choose "Large" because "Huge" sometimes makes the text a bit weird because it resizes all of the text and any text in a very small box tends to just stick out. "Large" works just fine. Now the text, even in full page views, is readable.

One of the things I really like about the Incredible's browser is the fact that when you zoom in on text, it will reformat it so that you don't have to scroll from side to side to read everything, it makes it all in one column and does a very good job. Does the X's browser do this as well?

On my LG Ally every time I try to type into a login or password box on a website if I use a letter g or a letter s I get thrown out of the browser and into gmail or messaging. How can I disable quick launch when the browser is active? For the time being I have just removed the associations in quick launch.

One of the first things I've noticed about the Samsung (coming from the iphone) is how blue-greenish the background is within the browser. The difference is striking when the iphone is side to side with the Vibrant. It makes the reading mobile pages such as m.cnn.com a whole lot more difficult, relatively speaking.Anyone else notice this? I've also taken notice of this on a friend's Droid, although not as pronounced. Is this common to Android devices? I would think that the Vibrant screen could deliver a bright white with no color imbalances and should surpass the quality on the 3G(S) iphone.

ever since I installed Froyo my phone has been so laggy it's almost unresponsive. I'm rooted so that may be a cause but it might be a bad app. Anyone else have similar problems?

My Motorola Droid will occasionally make phone calls after I've turned the machine off. I've observed the machine to restart and make a call, usually to a number prior to the topmost number on the call log. Any help on this?

I have an app that contains a custom view, and in it I want to use a custom font. Unfortunately, this results in really ugly text being rendered.
My custom view extends Surface (and just realized: is this a bad idea), and I draw the text with the following code:
CODE:...............
The result looks like this:
Not fun. I'm using p.setFlags(Paint.ANTI_ALIAS_FLAG) but even with that the result is just fudgly.
So, is there a way to improve custom TTF rendering, or should I just stick to the system fonts?

I've never really used the video-recording until today. After maybe 3-5 seconds of recording, my phone will automatically restart. It's happened 3 out of 3 times, and one of those times it was stuck on the big M [battery pull fixed it]. I am rooted, but not running any ROMs or Themes. I am overclocked to 1.45ghz [if this makes a difference].

I need an app!
One that makes the phone "beep" every 3 minutes after a text comes in.
Old phones used to do this.
Why isn't this an option built right into the android firmware? why do i need an application for this?
AND
why isn't there an app for this already?

Is there any difference between the back up that ROM manager makes and Nandroid? Reboots to what looks like the same screen. Also, will either of these restore my home screen icon configs?

This is driving me nuts! Ive had my phone for a week and all of a sudden today it makes the worst clicking sounds when I type anything. It literally sounds like a typewriter.

Can anyone help me figure out how to turn this off?

Anyone know how to disable this sound? When you are focusing it, it makes the little ding! sound, even when it is in vibrate mode. I was playing around with the camera at work this morning and found this out. kinda scared me cause i thought that since i have it in vibrate mode, it shouldn't make any sounds, right?

Has anyone downloaded the swype and seem like your phone runs extremely slow when it is running. When i have the swype app running then my phone is very slow, meaning when i just hit the home bottom takes five seconds to get there with all icons showing. I return to using the stock keyboard and the lag is gone. Anyone else getting this?

The Android 2.0 web browser included with the Milestone (UK version) does not wrap text on web pages. This forces me to zig-zag right and left to read text on a page, rendering the web browser near unusable. I've tried chaning the text size or default zoom levels but nothing works: it's like viewing an image version of the webpage. Is this bug particular to the Milestone?

I'm rooted and I manually installed 2.2 a few weeks ago, but a couple times a week I get a notification I have a system update. If I hit install later, it keeps popping up like every hour or something like that. If I try to install it, it just says installation failed. Is there a way to completely block OTA updates so I don't have to be annoyed with this anymore?

As soon as the 2.2 update was leaked for the Droid, I downloaded it and applied it to my phone, rather than keep waiting for Verizon to push it out weeks later. The update process went smoothly, and I have been running Froyo for a couple weeks now.
The problem is, now my phone bugs me with the OTA update notification constantly, and the only options I have are to install, or install later. I have no option to decline the update. Is there any way to tell android to stop attempting to apply the OTA update? I am surprised it is even trying, as its already running 2.2 so why would it still try and update? If it matters, I have rooted my Droid.

I usually will read the comments before I decide on downloading an app even if I already have an app and the comments are all negative I will not update the app. Now with that said, is there a way you can elect to IGNORE the update and wait for another one in the near future?
