Motorola :: What Makes Moto Droids Processor So Special

Jan 3, 2010

The Moto Droid has a Arm Cortex A8 processor clocked at 550MHz and I have heard people say that this processor is so much better than the Omnia II's processor at 800mhz. Also that it could even match up with a 1ghz processor.

How is the above possible and what makes Droids processor so special?

Android : List Of Droids MIME Types?

Feb 12, 2009

I can't seem to find out how a MIME type is found. For instance, say I want my application to bring up Contacts. Where can I find the MIME type for that task? I currently have the following:

Intent intent = new Intent(); intent.setAction(Intent.ACTION_GET_CONTENT); intent.setType("*/*");

Intent newIntent = Intent.createChooser(intent, null); startActivityForResult( newIntent , SHOW_VERIFY_ACTIVITY );

And the wildcards work. But I would like to be more explicit. Like the following:

...but is not valid.

Motorola Droid X :: 2.2 Froyo Update Buggy For Preloaded Droids Or No?

Oct 16, 2010

I've been viewing this forum for months and I'm surprised that I haven't joined until now lol... I'm currently a tmobile customer and will be getting the X in November. I've read in a few places and from a few people in person that the 2.2 froyo update was a tad buggy in small ways after the update. My question here is... Are any of you who recently bought a droid x PRELOADED with 2.2 have any problems too? Are is it primarily those who came from 2.1? I am honestly hoping to find a droid x with 2.1 so I can hold out on the update until the kinks are fixed but I was just curious if there was a difference for those who updated and those who got there's preloaded.

Android : Remove Pre Installed Apps Or Features On The Droids

Aug 15, 2010

I'm up for a new phone to replace my hated BB Storm. I played with the DX and D2, ( still can't decide) in the store. What struck me was the amount of apps or widgets for things I'll never use cluttering the screens. Can these be removed or is this all linked to the OS? Is this what people are talking about in reference to installing ROMS? I understand that this is not yet possible on the Ds because of eFuse. I also understand it is being worked on.

Motorola Droid :: Droids Keyboard - Giving Double Letters - Replace

Oct 19, 2010

I've had my Droid since June of 2010 and up until a few days ago the keys have started to stick. Pretty much when I press down on them they stick for a split second and spring back up making a click noise each time I click on certain keys (Almost all of them). Not many of the keys are giving me double letters when I type due to this but some are. I called Verizon about it they want to troubleshoot the issue and I have no problem with doing that, I just will do it later at home since I am out now. So what do you guys think..? Should I replace it or keep using it some more see if the sticking stops? I really REALLY hate to replace my Droid seeing as it's new fresh out of the box and I've had no other problems with it.

Is it that the Droids technology is just inferior to the I phones?

Socket Networking - Set Up Basic Network Connection Using Droids?

Feb 7, 2012

I'm trying to set up a basic network connection using droids but I'm having server program:

ServerSocket ss = new ServerSocket(8888);
//Server is waiting for client here, if needed[code]....

the server runs until it reaches ss.accept() like it should but the client still can't connect. The client usually times out and nothing happens

I'm running both these programs using eclipse on my computer. I set the premissions in the manifest for both programs to let them use the internet and I have the port forwarding .

Media :: Organizing Media (mp3's) On Droids?

Nov 24, 2010

I had pulled it out in approximately 1 second, turned it off, and placed it in a pot of rice for about 2 days, and now it seems to be working as normal. I experience a few bugs with it, which existed before the water incident. Specifically, it freezes up every now and then. Not enough to get me extremely frustrated, but it mildly irritates me. This seems to happen when I attempt to access the more demanding features of the phone like the music (from the SDCard) and the camera. This is only remedied by removing/reinserting the battery. But more importantly, I would like to know how to categorize my music. The Android 2.2. Froyo update has screwed this up in a sense, as it has placed all my mp3's that lacked album info in their own "sdcard" category/album. Does anyone know how to remedy this? Or can provide a link to a guide on organizing mp3's on Droids, or any specific software that can make this process easier?

Motorola Droid :: Stock Rooted 2.2 Froyo

Aug 4, 2010

All files needed are available on my web site: Android - unless you still need to root your phone or downgrade to 2.0.1, the files needed for that will be linked to from those guides. The purpose of installing this way is to use the original OTA updates from Google, and only modify them enough to have root access. When you are done, you will have a system that is capable of installing the next OTA (gingerbread) when it arrives. Hopefully we will be able to patch it in the same way to keep root. This is only for people who don't want to run custom roms, but still want to have root.

So far, I've only removed some of the bloatware from the stock ROM - 5 or 6 programs.Do I unroot, install the update and reroot? Is it that easy? Or do I have to install one of the backups?

Motorola Droid :: BBV.04 Vs Stock Rooted FRG22

I was just wondering what everyone's opinion is regarding the BBV0.4 and the rooted stock FRG22. I have had BBV0.4, 928 black glass theme, running @ 1.1GHz for a while now and I have no complaints. Would it be worth it to switch to the stock rooted FRG22, or wait for the devs to put out custom ROMs based on FRG22. I know they put some nice tweaks in the custom ROMs. I'm feeling the itch to switch, but I don't want to do it for no real advantages.

Motorola Droid :: Underclocking Rooted Stock?

Oct 7, 2010

I have a quick question. A friend and I were discussing whether the Droid underclocks automatically when stock.

We are both rooted and on CM nightlies, however, after experiencing some instability, he suggested bumping my lower speed limit from 250 to 500. I'm still in the process of testing if that resolves the problem.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could provide me with conclusive proof that the Droid does (or doesn't) underclock itself when stock (i.e. without the assistance of setCPU).

Let me rephrase my question:
Does the stock Android OS adjust the processor frequency dynamically as needed (like setCPU does). If so, to what degree (i.e. 250-550 MHZ as needed)?
