Motorola Droid :: Difference Between Back Up That ROM Manager Makes And Nandroid?

Aug 8, 2010

Is there any difference between the back up that ROM manager makes and Nandroid? Reboots to what looks like the same screen. Also, will either of these restore my home screen icon configs?

HTC Incredible : Difference Between Nandroid - A ROM Backup With Manager?

Sep 22, 2010

What is the difference between a nandroid back up and a ROM backup with rom manager? I don't want to make multiple backups if they are the exact same. I'm fairly new to all this but I did manage to root my phone and flash Virtuous ROM with the included custom kernel so I've been learning something.

Motorola Droid X : Difference Between Back-ups / Which One Better?

Oct 14, 2010

So I have been doing messing around with my phone more and more and love it. I got some great advise before I started really messing with it and it was "back-ups are your friend" So as I read and do more I have noticed there are two different kind of system back ups. A android, which is created in recovery mode or a Current ROM back-up in ROM Manager.

My questions is which one is better, or what is the difference?

Motorola Droid :: Downloaded ROM 2.2 / How To Get Root Back? (Nandroid Backup)

Sep 23, 2010

I was running CM6, but I had heard some people saying they were getting even better performance from stock 2.2, so I thought I'd give it a try. I downloaded a 2.2 ROM using ROM Manager and it said I could get a rooted or non-rooted version. The only option I was given was to select Superuser Permissions, which seems to be an app but I don't know how to use it. I know for sure I don't have root anymore. How do I get root back? Is there an easy way to simply restore from the nandroid backup I did prior to this? I don't have clockworkmod recovery anymore. I tried to reflash it but I can't because I don't have root.

Motorola Droid :: Recovery Image For Nandroid Back Up Failed

Feb 15, 2010

So I just got my droid today, got it rooted, reflashed and booted the recovery image for the nandroid backup and performed a nandroid backup. This was all with the droid plugged into my computer.

Then I downloaded BB and when I went to do an nandroid restore i couldn't get it to boot into the new recovery mode...I keep getting the stock reboot symbols

anyone have any ideas? I just looked in my root of the SD card.....the nandroid folder is there, the back up I made is there, so is there a reason i am getting the stock recovery image when i hold down x and the power button?

Android :: The Difference Resolution Makes ?

Jan 30, 2010

My current phone is 240*320 and I know that's definitely not enough, but I was wondering if someone with a HVGA and someone with a WVGA could take a screenshot showing the same webpage (phandroid, perhaps?) so it's possible to see the actual difference in use.

I really want a WVGA screen, but since it might be a while before they're released I'm considering just getting a Hero, but it would be sad to buy it and be disappointed in it.

Motorola Droid X : Back Button Functionality - Cannot Simply Go Back One Menu Using The Back Key

Jul 15, 2010

This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.

As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.

Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.

Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.

It makes navigating the phone very tedious.

Sprint HTC Hero : How To Fully Back Up - Restore Phone Using Nandroid

Apr 29, 2010

I have tried to backup my phone multiple ways and I have not had any luck. I manually rooted my phone, using the steps on this webpage:
[GUIDE] How To Root The Sprint CDMA Hero (Windows) - xda-developers

Manual Root Backup
When I tried the step 19 reboot recovery my phone just reboots to an HTC splash screen.

CLOCKWORK MOD

I also tried to use the clockwork mod market app to make a backup as see on this page
[Complete Guide] How To Fully Back Up And Restore Your Android Phone Using Nandroid Backup | Android News, Reviews, Applications, Games, Phones, Devices, Tips, Hacks, Videos, Podcasts - Android Police

I click flash clockwork mod recovery it auto senses my phone cdma htc hero. I click on the hero, and nothing happens, I never receive a successfully flashed.

PREKITCHEN
Last I tried to perform a backup using prekitchen
the diagnostic showed I am green in all areas
I click on the nandroid backup and it reboots my phone and brings up a HTC splash screen.

basically I have to pull out the battery to get phone functionality back. I have read else where that I can hold volume down and power to bring up a recovery mod (this works) but I am not sure what to do when I get there.

General :: How To Go Back To Stock ROM From Nandroid Backup - HTC Sensation And ARHD 6.7

Sep 14, 2012

Since a few weeks my phone turnes itself off accidentally, during any operation or just lying lazy on the desk. I had ARHD 6.5 since 6 months or so and I replaced it with 6.7 like 3 days ago, hoping this will solve the problem but it didn't. So I wanna try the stock rom and see whether it works or not, and if it won't I'll send it to rma. My question is how to recover original soft from nandroid backup, cause I tried and got stuck with bootloop. Do I have to recover the old firmware as well? I found some thread on how to remove clockwork and root, put the phone back S-ON and so on but I would have to recover stock rom first, right? I know I can also flash the stock rom, but the only one I found is not matching perfectly my original one, so I would rather get it back from backup. This phone is just so freaking annoying...

Sprint HTC Hero :: Any Way To Change Recovery Back To Stock Without Root? (Nandroid)

Jun 30, 2010

Let me start off by saying I did/still do have a nandroid and also a custom ROM zip on my SD. I used the ROM manager application to wipe data/cache, like I have done about 10 times this past week, and flashed a new ROM. So my phone reboots to recovery, "clockwork mod recovery", you have to use this recovery to use ROM manager, and instead of flashing the ROM, it gives me some error message. Now for anyone who isn't familiar with clockwork recovery, you can't flash a nandroid from it, you have to revert back to the stock recovery to flash a nandroid, or at least I do.

So now all I can do is reboot my hero which brings me back to stock 2.1 with no root access. Now I know what your thinking, "just flash your nandroid", but now I can't. To flash my nandroid I would have to reflash the stock recovery image through ROM manager, and now I'm stuck with the clockwork recovery image because ROM manager requires root to swap recoveries, and no ability to nandroid back to where I was before. Basically, unless there is a way to change my recovery back to stock without being rooted currently.
