I just got the phone the other day. I have had the eris. I had a big problem with in call the screen goes out and i can not end the call. The screen wont turn on either when i open the slider takes a good minute and half till the screen becomes "awake". Is there a fix for this?

Oftentimes when I attempt to end a phone call the screen goes dark and I am not able to end a call. I have read other websites in which users have had similar issues. Will this issue be addressed and fixed soon in a firmware update?

View 2 Replies View RelatedA girl at work spilled her drink of water by my phone and of course it got wet. I did the whole sit in rice for 3 days and hit it with a lite blow drying. After I turned it back on everything works perfect (can text and receive calls, ect) except the screen is so dark I can only see it (hologram type effect) in super bright light and tilted at an angel. And even then its barley visible. To my surprise yesterday the screen lit right up back to normal and I almost died, but by that night its back to dark. I have no insurance and have about 8 months left on my contract. I talked to some verizon people and the best scenarios for me would to be A) Buy another Droid X from like craigslist and switch everything over. Cheapest I seen in my area is $375 or B) Ad a line and get a new Droid X w/2 year contract for $200 and switch the info over and pay the data fee on the old one I cant use I'm not asking so much for help on those options, but more if anyone knows any tips to maybe fix the screen (if it is a screen problem and not hardware). It just sucks because it works perfect and it did come back on so I know (kinda) that it must be capable of doing it again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis may be just me or my combo of applications but, When I enter a number on the touchpad and press dial the screen goes dark and will not come back or accept input unless I put the phone to my face or otherwise cover the the light sensor. Even pressing the power button does not bring the screen back . I have forced the 2.1 update and have not noticed this behavior before. Not a big deal but is annoying if you dial a wrong number.

View 3 Replies View RelatedForgive me if someone else has asked this, but I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer.I understand that the proximity/light sensor turns off the screen when the Eris is next to your ear to prevent "face dailing", etc. And, I understand the screen comes back on when the sensor senses light. Ok, that works fine.BUT, what do you do if you are using the phone in the dark? When I pull the phone away, the screen will not come back on because it does not sense light. For example, trying to delete a voicemail if you're using the phone in the dark. I've tried every button to re-activate the screen, and the only one that will work is the "End" key. And that obviously ends the call.

I mute, sometimes end calls, start 3 way calls etc and I have no idea how to prevent it. Is there any way I can make the screen lock during phone calls or change the call screen altogether?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am not a big fan of the stock Droid X lockscreen, however I do like the regular Vanilla Lockscreen. Over on XDA I found some dark vanilla lockscreen sliders and decided to mod them for my Droid X.
As of right now I haven't added a vibrate icon with the right slider. Sliding from right to left will either turn sound on, or turn on vibrate mode. Also they are only supported in portrait mode.
Also I am not responsible for any and all damage this may do to your phone/device, neither is wjddesigns.com.
For anyone who didn't see this already over at alldroid, there is a new ROM that I am using that is pretty sweet, its a 2.0.1 rom with 2.1 apps similar to that of the bugless beauty but it doesn't move the /system apps to /data and the notification bar is a dark transparent with white clock? home screen rotation works too. It is a very nice rom and I think very quick, as quick as the version .5 of the bugless one I was using. He is also coming out with a version with wifi tethering but said u can install it separately and it works. I haven't tested that out yet. All in all its a great rom and I am definitely sticking with this one because the theme applied is super slick!

But If i am using other photo apps like picsart or*instagram the *screen looks dark and cant see anything through the camera. It looks dark.And also other apps like*qr code and Google goggles they also *looks dark through camera. Its running jellybean 4.1.2 out of box.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm on the phone and talk for over 15 mins or so my screen won't come back on.It goes off when I put it against my head like it is supposed to and comes back on when I pull it away like it should. But after 15 mins or so it goes off and wont come back on when I pull it away. So I can't end my call and when it's time to end the call of course I can't, nor can I get a call waiting. I had my phone's display set to time out after 10 mins then changed that to never time out but it still does this. However this setting shouldn't matter I wouldn't think, but it doesn't help either way. I'm having to do a battery pull to get my screen back,I have no other issues other than this. I hope I don't have to take it back! Will this be fixed on the December update? I plan on putting a call into Verizon tech support later but wanted to get your thoughts. Any ideas?

Bluetooth must still be connected because my car radio won't come back on, almost like the phone call is still going on. Only way to get my screen back on is to take the battery out.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI wrote about this earlier, I had an issue when making a call the screen stays off and I cannot access the keypad or anything while on a call when I remove the phone from my ear. I had this happen again today, but noticed it went away when I took the call indoors. This seems to be an issue when I make a call outdoors, maybe it is the bright sunlight, but the screen refuses to come back on when i am on a call outside. I had to use the keypad to make selections on a call today but was unable to since the screen stayed off. Have others noticed this happening in bright light calls outside? Also, what can be done to correct this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedNot sure how to fix this, but several times when I make a call and try to end it, the screen stays off and I cannot hit the END CALL button. This has happened a few times when I dialed the wrong number and wanted to just end the call before it connected, but when I flipped the phone back over from my ear it stayed off and the call kept going. Also, sometimes it will flash on for an instant then go back off again, still cannot end the calls.

Everything is solid. Call quality is great. Signal is rock solid (better, in fact, than my old LG, which was itself good). GPS is crazy accurate (can tell which couch I'm sitting on within the same room).
Motorola, Google, and Verizon is a team that's hard to match if the owner is ready to invest the time in setting up the device properly.

Even then, I cannot consistently see the call options. Also, when trying to multi-task, the unlock screen pops up and I am not always able to perform multiple tasks because as soon as I perform the unlock motion it goes right back to the lock screen. View 6 Replies View RelatedI want to get the display as dark as possible but I also want the display to remain touch sensitive.So I can't turn the display off, otherwise it wouldn't react to touch anymore. And I use WindowManager. LayoutParams. screenBrightness to get the screen as dark as possible. And I put a layer colored black over the entire display.That works, but at night one sees that the screen is still quite strongly illuminated.Does anybody have an idea of how to get the screen even darker?
