View 3 RepliesSo I have something like 470 people in my Google Contacts under "All Contacts" and only about 60 under "My Contacts." I like it that way, because then my Droid contact list isn't full to the brim with people whose numbers I really don't need at the touch of my fingertips. That being said, however, it would be very cool if somehow the "All Contacts" section of my Google Contacts could be used to identify incoming phone calls.
For instance:
I want my Brother's phone number in My Contacts so I can call him.
I don't want my ex girlfriend's Stacey's number in My Contacts because I don't need to call her.
I still have my ex-girlfiend's contact info under "All Contacts" because there's no reason to delete it outright.
I would, however, like for my Droid's caller ID to tell me that the person calling me is "Stacey" instead of "unknown caller."
Am I asking too much? I know I could just add everyone to "My Contacts" and that would work, I just don't necessarily want 500 people in my Droid phone book. It's unnecessary. Or even apps that do this?
Is there any way to black list a contact from your incoming calls and messages? I got someone who will not leave me alone no matter what I try.. any way to block them entirely from my Droid without getting Verizon involved or having to change my number?

Is there a way to restrict calls to only those people in my contact list?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI personally own the Motorola Droid, But one one my customers has the eris. Here is the question. He claims that whenever he call a contact, the actual contact is no longer available in the contact list but is instead moved over to the recent calls list. I told him that I believe that the recent call list only shows recent call and that the contact should to be found in proper order on the Contact list. Having no actual experience with this phone, I'm just looking for clarification. Does a recently called contact have to be found in the recent call list? If not, what may my customer be confused by? Is there a free application to make this any easier for him?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got my new Desire at the weekend and set up Facebook on it.
The issue I have is that my sister has our home number listed on her Facebook profile as a contact number. I have linked this profile to her contact.
I have also set up 'Home' as a person on the phone. But when the home number calls me, it shows it as being my sister calling rather than home.
Is there anyway to remove the home number from my sister's contact details without de-syncing her Facebook profile?
I have a HTC Hero running the latest 1.5 software off of HTC site. One thing I have noticed, is that if I have any photos associated with a contact, the photo is heavily pixelated when it is displayed via an incoming/outgoing call.
I am using Gmail Sync to push email, calender and contacts. If I use the Pre or iPhone, then it shows up fine.
Is this a known bug? I have tried re-creating the image on the Hero - but once I select the area, it pixelates it again.
I switched to a Droid X from a BlackBerry. On the BlackBerry, not only could you set phone and SMS custom alerts and ringtones (in addition to custom ring profiles for certain contacts), you could also set email alerts.
So for example, if my husband emailed me, it would ring a custom alert for his email, not just for an email to that particular account. That meant I didn't need to look at my phone every time got an email to see who it was from. (I have a web-based business and I get literally hundreds of emails every day.)
On the BlackBerry, not only were there custom inboxes for each email account, there was a "universal" inbox. There doesn't seem to be a function exactly like that for the Android (I tried adding my Gmail accounts to the one there, but it keeps defaulting me back to each Gmail box).
Is there an app for this?
I have Ringo Pro for my custom sms and call alerts, but an email alert would be a lifesaver. There are a lot of BB converts to Android (and I'm sure more to come) who would gladly pay for an app to handle this. So far, it's the only thing I can see where the Droid X doesn't beat the BB.
So the other day i got a call and i pulled the phone out of my pocket and tried to slide to answer and nothing happned. I tried to slide it to drop the call and nothing happened. I then mashed a bunch of buttons in frustration and think i rebooted my phone. It did it again to me today, though after about 10 seconds it finally allowed me to answer the phone. I have weatherbug going without GPS as that killed the battery, also have pocket empires going today.
View 4 Replies View RelatedVery occasionally, when I get an incoming call the contact picture and info shows up, the slider shows at the bottom of the screen, but no matter what I do I can't slide it to unlock it. Has anyone else had this problem?I'm relatively sure it's a hardware problem with the touchscreen, but wanted to check to see if anyone else has seen this problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOften my Droid will only ring one time for an incoming call. If the call is left unanswered it is auto-answered after a "normal" amount of time. But I can watch the screen of my quiet Droid after the initial ring and count the seconds until it's auto-answered with my recorded greeting. It should be ringing during that time.
It seems to do this randomly, though it's really tough to troubleshoot and tell definitively. I sat for two hours with my wife's Droid, my laptop phone program and our regular house phone and got consistently inconsistent results!
I've yanked every phone call specific app and reinstalled them systematically, rebooting each time. I've taken a look at system apps to see if there is a conflict. I've also looked at (and pulled & reinstalled) audio setting apps looking for a conflict.
I've changed ring tones to MP3 clips, and while they do play in their entirety, they usually repeat and they are not. I've even done a hack to the system/build.prop file that changes the delay before the phone rings.
I just can't seem to figure out what's going on. Anyone have any ideas?
Did a search and didn't find anything, maybe Im not searching the right words but I want to know how do I turn off the voice when I get an incoming call? I don't want it announced every time I receive a call.

I'm a heavy user so I'd like to conserve as much battery as possible. Is it possible to have the screen not light up when I get an SMS or a call?I'd like my phone to just ring without lighting up because I get tons of SMS for my work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have quite a few duplicate contacts in my contact list. Is there a way to edit them directly on the PC instead of through the contact list menu on the phone. Also, without exporting & importing the list as it may create additional duplicates.
View 1 Replies View RelatedVery annoying to have to type the first couple of letters of the ppl. Is there a way to bring up the contact list and check the ones that i want to send. Seems like a simple thing to have and do but luck!
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to have your contacts sorted by last name instead of first?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know this is probably basic but I have to ask anyway. When I want to forward a picture or text message to someone else on my contact list I always have to enter information in the "To" box. (Example) In this instance, I want to forward a text message to "Bryan." I hold down the message until the "Forward" option pops up and I select that. In this "To" box I type Bryan and nothing comes up but the number's corresponding number (B=2, R=7, etc) I do not get a drop down list giving me Bryan's name. For any text message I send I have to know the complete number of who I'm wanting to forward it to. Is there a setting I need to adjust? Or is there a app that will give me the option of bringing up my contact list so I can just select the person I want to send to via touch screen? Its very annoying.
I have searched and read that most people can just type the first few letters of a name or number and get a list of people from the contact list to choose from on the contact list however I never get anyone Thank you for any information.
Sometimes I like to get rid of all the texts etc. from someone on my phone. But on the X, I can delete the text message, no problem. But how do I delete the history from under my contacts. What I mean is when you go to your contact list and select a contact you can view the contact but then move the screen over and view all recent history with them. That still sits there after a text thread has been deleted. Is there a way to prevent this from even happening or at least some way to delete the history?
View 4 Replies View RelatedGot my phone today. Problem is I went to the verizon store, had them transfer contacts from my blackberry and when I go to contacts, it is empty other than the phone default numbers. If I go to "All contacts" the list is populated with my regular phone numbers +600 facebook friends i do not care about. How can I get it so I only have the numbers I want?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter the update I have noticed several changes, 90% have been welcomed & appreciated.Next thing I know I go to make a call from my contact list and there are zero contacts the really weird part is, if I am texting and filling out the to-whom line, it will automatically populate contacts as if my contact list never vanished it may have been coincidental that this took place the day of the update, but that's where u guys come in.let me know if u have had the same issue.

View 10 Replies View RelatedHow can we reject incoming phone call in android if the incoming number is already stored in phonebook.
What method is used to reject incoming calls? I know how to detect incoming calls but don't know how to reject.
I have been facing this issue after upgrading to 2.1. I open th recent call list and click one of the recent calls but instead of dialing that contact my phone dials a different contact which is different altogather. Initially i thought that I have selected wrong contact but recently I noticed that the contact it actually called was way down in the list that it was not even visible.

Is there a way to make it so that the facebook contacts, etc, don't show up in your default contact list? I just want to show the names and phone numbers of the people that I have actually programmed into my phone, not everyone that I have on facebook.
