Motorola Droid X :: Ringtone / Notification Tone - Silent Option?
Jul 22, 2010
I don't see an option for Silent under Phone Ringtone or Notification Ringtone? What if I want to not have an audible alert for phone calls / text? I guess I could just create an .mp3 with 1 second of silence, but is there I could have sworn I saw a "silent" tone for each in the list before, but it's not there now.

I installed the Zedge app and downloaded a ringtone and notification tone I want to use. I set them as the tones in my options, but it's like it doesn't save or something. The tones just keep going back to the ones I had them set to originally that were already on the phone.

Before 2.2 There was a vibrate only option if you rocked the volume down just before the silent all option. Now, I can either only have vibrate with audio and a complete silent option; or a vibrate all option with no complete silent.
The vibrate only was great for things like movies, meetings, etc. The silent was great also when the vibrate itself is loud enough for an entire room to hear the buzz. Is there a script or an option I'm overlooking that would allow me to get that back?
I'm running BB v0.3, OC'd 1100 Max.

I'm looking for a notification tone I had with Ultimate Droid called Soft. It sounds like a sonar bing or a golf club. I forgot to get it before I went to cyanogenmod.

How do I set my notifications to be a different volume than ringtones? I downloaded AudioManager, and it looks like there are separate volume levels for alerts and ringer, but they seem to be linked. Right now, if I have my volume set high enough to hear incoming calls, I jump out of my seat every few minutes when I get an email or text.

So I factory reset a while ago, after 2.2 really bogged my phone down or so it seemed. So I deleted all apps and when I went to install my favorite ringtone app (Mabilo Ringtones), it was gone. I don't know if they are getting rid of the app all together or if they are in the works of making a brand new app but I'm pretty bummed cause I used to love the app.
Now the question is, what ringtone app should I use? I like to download the ringtones already made instead of editing my own (that takes too much work right?! lol)
I downloaded one called Ringlert or something like that and its really similar but everytime I assign the ringtone as default ringtone it makes everything silent for some reason? What is everyone using?

I have a Google Nexus running Android 4.1
I can set default ringtone and default notification both to silent so only people with custom ringtone can make my phone ring
I just got a Note 3 running Android 4.3
When I go to set the default ringtone there is no 'silent' option. Under default notification I can set that to 'none' which is the same as silent but there is no 'none' option for ringtone.
Can I set default ringtone to 'silent' or 'none' with Android 4.3 ?

Has anyone noticed that when you hold the power button, the Silent Mode will be listed as ON when the volume is on? Isn't this backwords? Then to silent the phone, I tap the Silent mode, and it switches to OFF and then the phone is silent (with the (/) through a music note in the taskbar)

Hey all, so I just got a Samsung Galaxy finally in the mail. It took long enough to figure out how to put music on it, then use my music for ringtones. But when I am in Settings for Notification Ringtones, I do not see the mp3 I added but only in Calling Ringtones. Why is this? I want to use the same ringtone for notifications too!.

My fiance upgraded from LG Voyager to Droid 2. She wanted her old ringtones from the Verizon Media store so she downloaded them. When she stored them they were given default names. I was able to make the appropriate ringtone associations, except for voicemail. I have 2 questions:
1. How do you set a ringtone for voicemail? When I run the standard voicemail app (Verizon) I cannot being up a menu.
2. How do I change the name of a ringtone file?

Back when I got my phone, I transfered an MP3 from the computer to the SD card and selected it as ringtone. it is still there and still works.....but now, after the OTA update, when I go into settings/phone ringtone this sound is not on the list. How do I get it back?
Also, under notifications, in the list of sounds the ones on my SD card are not there. I have a sound stored on the card that I would like to set as the notification. I mounted the card to my computer to verify that these files are indeed on the SD card. The phone just isn't seeing them in the list of available sounds...but, they do play if I go into MP3 or Music app.

On my HTC desire, when I'm choosing a notification sound I no longer have the choice of just having it silent while I can still have the phone ringer on. I was able to do this with my old Droid back in the US and just wondering if anyone knew a way setup their Desire this way. Just I'm at work all day and still want to be able to hear calls but don't want a ping everytime I get an email or a text msg. Really appreciate any help people can give here.

I am looking for a way to map either the power button, the camera button, or a volume buttons to turn the notification tone off. I have the phone in a holster and there are times such as driving or other times when getting the phone out to turn off the notifier is not easy or practical.I do want to know that one came in but letting the tone run its course is annoying both to me and anyone around. Is there an app for this or a setting I missed? I have a Droid X by the way.
