I don't see an option for Silent under Phone Ringtone or Notification Ringtone? What if I want to not have an audible alert for phone calls / text? I guess I could just create an .mp3 with 1 second of silence, but is there I could have sworn I saw a "silent" tone for each in the list before, but it's not there now.

I frequently use www.phonezoo.com to download free ringtones. I'm trying to redownload some ringtones and I don't see how to save them as ringtones. They come as an mp3 file and my old phone had a menu option to save them. Does anyone know how to do it on the X?

I am getting really bent trying to figure out how to save a mp3 as a ring tone. Had a friend text and email me a cool ring tone to my phone which I clicked on save to sd card. Now once I save it and even download it I can never find it on my phone. I even went to the net and found this same ring tone and downloaded it and aved it to the sd card but of course I can't find it anywhere on my phone. I can never find crap when I save to my sd card there is no where on my phone I can go to and look at stuff that I down loaded to the sd card. I would really like to learn how to find crap that I save to my sd card and then use it as a ring tone.

I had the phone for a few days and I have downloaded some tunes into the music application on the phone and I see you can save the tune as a ringtone and also trim it which is all good, however, after I have saved the tune as a ringtone, when the phone is switched off and back on again, the chosen ringtone has gone and the "save tune" I had within ringtones has also gone.
I have tried contacting HTC and they are talking about something about route of the SD card and making folders which I have not got a clue about what they are talking about and they don't seem to give clear instructions in how to transfer a song from your PC to the phone and then make it into a ringtone.

I'm saving a sound from my app to be used as a ringtone or a notification sound. Here's part of my code, taken from this page:
CODE:................
My understanding is that the sound will be saved as well as a ringtone, a notification sound and an alarm, as the flags are all set to "true". At least on the emulator this does work but on the actual device, the sound only shows up in the ringtone list, and I have no idea why.
I've tried to investigate further: removing the line with "IS_RINGTONE" won't change anything (in case only one flag can be used at a time), the sound doesn't show up in the list with the notification-sounds.

OK so to get away from all the 2.1-mania for awhile i'd like to hear what everybody is using for their text notification sound. (p.s. longtime lurker, first time poster) to start off mine is "Droid" in android voice, from the zedge app

Yes, I work in a restaurant and my default ringtone just doesn't do it (can't hear it)! I need a loud ringtone (not a siren, or alarm bell, etc) just a nice loud recording or ringtone.

I'm using Handcent for SMS messages. I was sent some pics via MMS. I can view them fine but don't see a way to save them to the SD card/memory. Is there an option to save the pics in Handcent? I want to save them all before I update to CL14.

I've searched many many times... I followed the instructions (wiped out my sd card) and completely reset the phone to factory settings, put the file on the sd card, Volume down + the Power key and I get the 3 skater androids but no option to install the new os. I have limited time online (pdanet, and am a Truck driver so NO SIGNAL a majority of the time)

coming from a BB Curve, you can email yourself ring tones or email them to a friend from your device. I tried to email myself a ring tone on my Fascinate and it comes through, gives you the option to preview it, but no option to save it to the sd card. Does anyone know how to do this? I ask because I have friends that swap ring tones around and it is now impossible to do this for me.

so we just got the Eris for my gf (I have a rooted droid) and she's loving the phone, but is def a BIG adjustment from the blackberry. The biggest problem that we are having is that the phone will not ring until about the 3rd or 4th ringtone, which by the 6th or so, it goes to VM anyways.... so If I call her (or anyone) I'll hear the calling tone from my end, and on the 4th one or so, finally her phone will ring, but you have about 5 seconds then it goes to voice mail... can anyone help me with this? if it matters, I do have google voice setup with gvoice as the stock vmail... I don't remember if it was doing that before this

For some reason my Eris refuses to allow me to select a default ringtone. I can select a ringtone from the list and listen to it, but when a call comes in, I get 2 Step, the first ringtone in the list. I've rebooted and removed the battery, but neither of these fixed the problem. I called Verizon tech support and was told to enter Settings from Apps, which I did and it actually worked...once. Now, it's failing solid.

I posted this in the Eris 2.1 leak bugs and fixes thread, but it was lost and ignored in a "back-n-forth" by two other members."For some reason, my ringtones get very loud when receiving a phone call.Regardless of how low I set the volume, it starts at the set volume for a split second, then gets loud to about 80% of full volume.Tried rebooting a few times and double checking the settings.Any one else experience this? I did the manual update to 2.1 yesterday and everything's great except for one issue.I have a ringtone set for my wife so that I know when she's calling but for some reason since the update it plays the default ringtone for her.I've tried deleting her contact and then manually adding the contact back, I've tried changing the ringtone to something else and then back to what I want but the problem persists. Please help, this is really frustrating.

I've had my Eris since the week it came out and it has the People > Groups > Sync Groups option, however a friend of mine just got an Eris and his phone does not have this option and is syncing ALL of his gmail contacts. His groups screen only has the option to add or delete groups. The only difference I can think is that I did not have Verizon transfer my contacts from my blackberry to my Eris, he did.

Why is it that Andoird apps don't have a close or exit. Having to hit the escape key a bunch of thime to exit an application.
In that regard the RIM OS works much better. I knew exactly what was running and what I wanted to close.
It is particularly annoying with the internet app. One has to navigate backwards through as many sites visited for the stupid thing to finally close.

Gmail itself receives email perfectly. The problem is when I compose an email, there is no option to add multiple recipients. The HTC mail app has an icon of a "person" next to the recipient (or "to" block). There is no such icon on the gmail app. There is a "to" block but no way to add multiple recipients. I have to manual type in a name (though it does recognize and try and auto finish the name). Am I missing something? Typing each name in for a mass email is a huge pain.

I did a search and didn't find anything recent...is there a program that works with 2.1 that will automatically clear the caches for you instead of having to go into the settings and do them one by one? Also, what does the "clear data" option do?
