Motorola Droid X :: Power Source Plug Into USB - Status Discharging

Jul 25, 2010

When I plug in the micro-usb plug into the droid x it doesn't seem to charge the batteries and I have to unplug the A/C wall plug and replug it before it will start charging. I have looked at the status when I first plug in the USB port into the droid x and it says "power source plugged into USB" and then status is discharging. This doesn't seem normal to me, and I don't see why I have to unplug and replug the A/C plug everytime. Is there some chip which is just not registering correctly? Do I need to go to a verizon store and get it checked out?

HTC Droid : Eris Power Up Plug - No Charging

Feb 16, 2010

Anyone else had an issue with powering up? I now have to push all of my power cords down to get a charge now. If I just plug it into the phone, no charge. It's until I jiggle the cord, is when I get a charge.

Anyone else had this issue? I might take it back in for a new one soon.

Android :: Debugging Other People Source Code In Eclipse / ADT Plug-in Might Not Be Functioning Properly

Jul 2, 2010

I am new to android development and have been playing around with the tutorials offered at developer.android.com.I don't have a problem with projects I create from scratch, but when I start a project from the android sample code provided at android.com or from any other android project, I can never seem to get the bugs out to even run the thing. For example, when loading up the NotePad sample in the android-7 package of samples.would like a general solution, something more global bc this is occurring whenever I pull in anyone's source code from outside.kind of frustrated because I feel that I am spending too much time working out these kinks and not being able to study other people's code against how it performs in the emulator.

I could see the source code for the "basic" power control widget here (this one has only 5 options).

I'm wondering if the source code for the version I have is available somewhere.

Motorola Droid :: Warning - Battery Life Is 15% And To Plug It Into Charger

Jun 25, 2010

Has anyone had this happen to them. My Droid was sitting on my desk next to me, it had about 80% battery life left, I get a few txt messages, and then its giving me the warning that my battery life is 15% and to plug it into the charger. Well I put it on the charger, and not even 30 seconds go by, and its fully charged. This has only happened once so far, but I am concerned is the battery slowly dying out, or is it just a glitch in the phone?

Android :: How Open Source Status Of Android Benefit Developers?

Apr 15, 2010

I understand the concept of open source, but I just realized now that I understand it from only one view: when I open source my own code. I don't really understand what benefit I'm getting from receiving the same thing. As a regular developer (like the majority of us here), I did not spend the past 4 years of my life working on "developing" the android. So even though I'm a developer, I'm at the end of the developers chain when it comes to the Android (like most of us). I'm really more of an end user. So my interest in Android isn't really to dedicate all my time to it or work on improving its kernel or anything overly ambitious.

So with that clear, as a developer considering developing for the Android, how does it really benefit me that it's open source? What's the added benefit that I'm missing? Can other developers share some concrete ways that its open source status actually affects us as developers. Basically I'm trying to understand how we, at this developer level, can make sense of the fact that it's open source, or is its open source status just hype for us at our end developer level.

Android :: Capturing HEADSET PLUG - .intent.action.HEADSET PLUG

Feb 15, 2009

yesterday, I spent several hours trying to figure out how to capture the HEADSET_PLUG intent with a BroadcastReceiver. The manifest defines the <receiver>, with its intent-filter set to <action android:name="android.intent.action.HEADSET_PLUG" />.

The receiver is working correctly (I verified that by changing the intent filter to capture things like SMS_RECEIVED including the proper permissions and the receiver fired as expected on receiving an SMS), but when listening for HEADSET_PLUG, it never fires. Debugging the whole thing is a bit complicated, as the emulator doesn't seem to support headsets and I have to disconnect my target device (a HTC Dream) from USB in order to attach a headset (so there's no logfile viewing). Are there any special permissions required for applications to capture the HEADSET_PLUG intent (and if so, which? I've tried several, to no avail)?

Maybe the Dream doesn't fire such an intent at all (that'd be bad luck for me), but I guess that it must be an issue related to application permissions. The documentation says extremely little (well, actually: nothing) about the single permissions needed to perform all the actions described in the API docs, so this is absolutely something to be improved.

What I want to do: Upon detecting a headset, I want to re-route the ringtones from the speakers to the headset, so as not to annoy people in my vicinity by a harsh ringing sound (I'm used to this behaviour from my old phone) - by default, the speaker just keeps on ringing, no matter whether a headset is attached or not. This part is already working, but now I need to know how to detect headset attachment/ detachment events.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Wireless Tether Discharging

Nov 4, 2010

I tried searching but did not find anything to answer this question. I recently rooted my wife's hero so she could use wireless tether. Everything works great except that the phone discharges at an alarming rate. While plugged into the wall, it discharges faster than it can charge. Is this normal? I tried different cables/chargers but nothing seems to charge or keep the charge while wireless tether is on and being used. My evo easily handles the wireless tether and even charges up the phone while doing it. If this is normal for the Hero then I will not worry anymore about it. Will just tell her to use the wireless tether in 1-2 hours times to avoid draining her phone all the way.

Samsung Captivate :: Battery Discharging Completely

Aug 4, 2010

Came from BB to Captivate. I have a couple of issues that I would like to resolve. I haven't had that great of battery life, but saw the post about discharging the battery completely 3 times and will try that. My phone shuts off randomly. I have read about others with that issue, with really no resolution other than exchanging it. I'm still within 30 days so exchanging it may be my resolution to that. But does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop it from doing that? Also, callers are telling me that I am breaking up while talking to them. I'm in the same location where I was using my BB could it be an issue with my phone specifically? My main issue is that I have no idea if I have missed a call or SMS. Is there an app out there that will tell me that, without me having to wake up the phone? I'm really happy with the phone in general. I do have GPS issues, but can wait until the fix is pushed out. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

General :: GB 2.3.x - Discharging When Plugged In PC That Is In Sleep Mode?

Jan 21, 2012

It seems something changed in GingerBread release that changes either how phone communicates with PC or whatever, but if you plug it into PC that runs Windows 7 OS and then put PC in sleep mode, the phone will still show charging icon, but will rapidly discharge.

I've noticed this on Atrix 4G, when it had Froyo 2.2 it would stay 100% charged overnight, but once it got updated to GB 2.3, I can't leave it connected to PC anymore, by the morning it's completely dead. (by the way it can last at least 12 hours if unplugged and laying on table)

Unfortunately Atrix 4G is the only phone I have that can get Froyo to confirm this, but all others phones I've tried so far all have GB 2.3.x and all suffer the same issue.

Motorola Droid :: Power Off - On / Have To Reclock?

Jul 25, 2010

I am new to this rooting stuff. I am running 2.2, froyo and Launcher Pro. When I power off (don't do often) the phone comes back up really slow. I tried the default Launcher and it does the same thing so I am thinking it probably is not Launcher Pro (although it could be doing something in the background) I noticed that my clock speed, which was set to 900 is down to 250 when the phone boots back up which is probably why it is powering up so slow. Is there anything I can do to have it keep the 900 setting so that it boots back up faster? Is it the clock widget possibly? Be gentle, I am tech challenged.

Also used it less than I have with bb 0.4. I went from 100% down to 90% in about 15 min. just using a IM Program. Do these phones have more drain with a theme installed. I know that blackberry's suffered from this problem.
