alright so i see all of these new froyo roms from source, and i guess i have one that is not from source, but it runs fine. I guess what im going at is what is the advantage of having a rom from source compared to not from source.

I just got my new X and have hopefully an easy question. I sync'd up my Gmail contacts but when I set up my Facebook account, it added all my Facebook contacts and made my contact pictures in my contact list the ones from Facebook. I want the contact pictures that I have saved in my Gmail account to be the pictures showing up on my phone and I also didn't want all my Facebook contacts to transfer over to my list. How do I go back to my original Gmail contacts only, and import the photos from my Gmail account to replace the ones from Facebook? When I go to the option to change picture source, it only gives me my Facebook and Twitter accounts as options.

I added my Gmail account and it synced my contacts. I also added my Facebook account, and I like the integration the phone shows when I look at contacts (I can see info from both my Gmail and Facebook accounts for contacts that are synced). However, it appears that the contact photo is only using pictures from Facebook, even though I have photos in my Gmail contacts account. I see a menu option for Picture Source, but it only shows Facebook, not Gmail/Google. Is there a way to force it to use Gmail/Google for my contract picture source without removing my Facebook account?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have encountered a strange issue. I received two emails from the same source with similar (but not quite the same) subject. Both show up fine in my gmail inbox (as expected) on a browser, but if I use the gmail app on the Droid X, it only shows the most recent message. The two messages were received about 3 days apart, the content of the message is different, but the from address is the same and the subject line is similar (just a few #'s different).
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I plug in the micro-usb plug into the droid x it doesn't seem to charge the batteries and I have to unplug the A/C wall plug and replug it before it will start charging. I have looked at the status when I first plug in the USB port into the droid x and it says "power source plugged into USB" and then status is discharging. This doesn't seem normal to me, and I don't see why I have to unplug and replug the A/C plug everytime. Is there some chip which is just not registering correctly? Do I need to go to a verizon store and get it checked out?

I have been through many roms, and i always wipe/data, etc. I also always backup all apps/ data/ system through titanium. I read something a while back in a post which i cannot find about not selecting the red colored items or maybe the green items?I think it may be the red because those are all system apps which will come in the new rom i am flashing. I noticed i had 2 copies of system apps like car home 2.2 and so on, i just wanna be sure before i flash a new rom again.

The stock wall charger that came with my Droid X is the 5PN5504A, which has an output rating of 5.1V, 850mA. My understanding is that the mini-USB interface is an industry standard for power delivery to portable devices, which I take to mean that any charge source should work (wall charger, desktop PC, laptop) as long it has uses an USB interface. So any USB-->miniUSB cable can be used to charge any mini-usb device, regardless of power source, right?
I already have several other mini-usb devices, such as bluetooth headsets, which all came with their own wall chargers. However, I checked these chargers, and they all have different outputs: 5V @ 200mA, 5V @ 150mA, 5V @ 550mA. Because the default Droid X cable was so short, I was tempted to use these other chargers. I plugged in the 5V@150mA charger to my Droid X, and found that the phone does not show it's charging (the lighting bolt isn't there, there's no animation on the battery indicator). So then I switched to the 5V@550mA charger, and it DOES charge....................
so i just inhereted a motorala cliq and have been doing some research online and such.. but my question is about unlocking this phone to work with at&t.. i know it is possible with a unlock code. first of all.. if i unlock this phone and use it with my at&t sim card will be be fully functional?? second.. can anyone recommend a good source for a unlock code (for example ebay or somewhere else that might be better) this will be my first android phone so im looking for it to be fully functional.. otherwise ill probably just sitck with my p.o.s. old at&t phone.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm targeting Android 1.5 - I'd like to use the ScrollView widget, but there's a hard-coded value within the class which makes it kind of unusable for my purposes (it's the "touch slop" value - set to 16 - the amount of movement the user has to make with their finger before considering the gesture a scroll - I think this should ideally be cut in half!).
Anyway, I could grab the source of ScrollView, paste it into my project, and then tweak that one static field, then rename the class MyScrollView. But where is the 'official' source code for Android living, specifically for 1.5? I grabbed the ScrollView code from here as a test:

I captured the terminal output and saved it to Google Docs in the hopes that someone a lot smarter than me can figure out what I'm doing wrong :)

Is it possible to include other Java source projects in Eclipse into an Android project? Normally for a regular Java project you do this by adding the other project to the build path and including it in the Project References. This same approach lets the code compile, but when the app is deployed to the emulator, it throws a VerifyError when I try and instantiate classes from my other project. Is this possible with the Android SDK? Do you have to build them to jars and include them inside your Android project like this? I know this works, but just involves more steps to do this.
