Just thought I would throw this out.I have been using the N1 on AT&T and p/u the Droid x on launch. Using Speedtest.net, the N1 has been giving me above 1.5 Mbps down and .8 up. OTOH, the Droid x has been .6/.3 over a span of three days.

I am running Nexbeast 1.1 so not a Froyo ROM, but I did update to the latest baseband via Pete's install on the ROM manager. Everything works great and my signal is usually 3-4 bars everywhere so it is a small improvement there.... However, I've noticed that my downloads have slowed dramatically. I used to get around 1.25Mb down or at least routinely over 1Mb, but now it's barelly 500-600k each time. I'm in different areas of town and it's not any better. Has anyone noticed this problem? The other thing is if I wanted to revert to the previous baseband (not the 3E.03P but rather 3E.01P, I believe) where do I get the file?

I couldn't wait for the OTA, so i manually updated from the droid life site. now that i am running 2.2 my phone is so slow its almost impossible to use. whenever i put the phone in standby then start up the phone to do something, it takes approx 10 seconds to repopulate the home screen and approx 20 seconds before i can swipe to a different home screen.
I am obviously not rooted, i do run live wallpaper and only have 2 widgets (beautiful home and calendar) phone ran great on 2.1

Here is my rebooting information:
Had a droid for 7 months and it was wonderful. Rebooting started one day after a few weeks of things getting slower, particularly messaging.
Rebooting continued randomly and the phone got generally slower, including internet speed.
Verizon sent replacement. Same rebooting.
Did a factory reset and didn't install any apps. Same rebooting.
Verizon sent another replacement. Same.
Removed SD card, same. Got new battery, same.
Verizon sent Eris. Used a different gmail account. Still rebooting.
My guess is that I'm getting refurbished phones with the same hardware issue that eventually developed in my new phone.

I am in a verizon store. There is a droidx and droid incredible right next to each other. I installed speedtest.net app on both. Used advanced task killer to kill background apps on both..then ran speedtest.net app.Ran the test ten times on each phone to get a good average. Droidx gets 0.50 mbps max...incredible gets 2.0 mbps nearly on every one of the ten runs I did. Why? Is this a known issue? I wanna get the phone..its in stock..but this speedtest issue is bugging me. Any explanations? Also the droid x is getting only 2 bars..the inc has full signal. Been here about an hour, and no change in signal or speedtest.live update.. I am going to drive to another verizon store right now and repeat the tests on new phones..I will run with and withouth task killer. Ill update once I get to the new verizon store.

When the first iPhone came out, I traded in my beloved Palm Treo 650 in for the iPhone 1. LOVED it. It was like nothing I used before. I even waited in line for 11 hours to get one!
So I got the iPhone 3G and then the 3GS came out and I said i'd wait. When the iOS 3.0 update came out it bricked my wifi and Apple not only did not ever even acknowledge that this was a problem for 10's of thousands of people, maybe even hundreds of thousands, I don't know the exact number, they never offered a fix! Just go to the Apple support forums and see all the threads on it.
Then when the 4.0 update came out and really did a number on my iPhone 3G, I was REALLY pissed... My 3G iPhone REALLY became almost unusable...
Started researching the Droid and found out about the EVO by accident... I said screw you ATT and and Apple for your non-support and luckily got an EVO on my second attempt at finding one.
So far, I LOVE my EVO and and happy with Sprint service for the most part. My bill is MUCH cheaper and I get more bars in more places than ATT by far.
Now, with all that said, I really think Google could do more with their Android OS. First off, media is where Google is SERIOUSLY lacking. I'll admit, nothing is beating iPhone-iPod/iTunes combination and ease of syncing. It just works and it works EXTREMELY well.
I think Google should put some resources into a working media player that will eventually rival or eclipse iTunes. Now, I read they bought SimplifyMedia a few months ago and MAYBE they have something in store with the gingerbread update that would solve our syncing/music/media player issues but i'm not sure. I used SimplifyMedia on my iPhone while the service worked on the iPhone and it was nice but it streamed at too low a bitrate. It sounded as if it was streaming 64kbps. Hopefully Google fixes the bugs that were in the iPhone version and optimizes it for Android use. Google really needs to make this a stick app and make it GOOD.
Google also needs to standardize the video codec issues. I'm not to privy on all the specifics but I read enough on here to know that it needs work ASAP.
Google needs to also fix the problems with email and make a full "desktop" like app and make it stock while still giving choice to use the hardware manufacturers client. Gmail should work on Android just like it works on the desktop. The Apple rendition of Gmail is better than the Gmail app on the marketplace. Thats not cool! Also, the problems setting up exchange or manually setting up POP or IMAP should be fixed... Google should not drop the ball in one of their areas of expertise.
Google also needs to do something about organizing the marketplace. Its useable but it could be organized a LOT better....
With Android OS devices selling so well, Google really needs to prioritize Android's OS much higher than whatever it currently is. Its on its way to becoming the most used OS in the US and eventually the world.

Today makes it exactly one week since I upgraded to my Evo. I noticed, yesterday and today, an issue with notification. Yesterday I missed a call and noticed the led blinking but nothing in the notifications drag down window. Today I received a text message, saw the icon up top, then before opening it I received a call. Talked for a good hour on the phone and when I hung up, the led was blinking but icon was gone. Another thing I noticed from when I got the phone is I don't show any notification on the unlock screen as soon as you come out of sleep mode. Is this normal? My hero shows missed call or text on the unlock screen when you wake the phone.

I've been using swype on 1.5 and then again on 2.1 OTA. I've always updated to the newest version and I recently did a factory data reset on my eris because I couldn't get messaging threads to delete. After factory reset, I downloaded swype from beta.swype.com on the eris and installed the latest version. For some reason when I use swype the blue guide line is a lot slower than it used to be to catch up to where i swipe my finger. It also has trouble when I circle on a letter to indicate that I want to use that letter twice in a word. That never works now. I tried going into the keyboard calibration settings and resetting the calibration to factory settings. I looked in the swype settings as well. I haven't made any changes them so I'm wonder why the line tracing and understanding what I'm swiping is not even close to as responsive as before.

I'm currently testing weather I want to drop my aircard for the EVO, but I'm noticing the speeds and ping times are lower on the EVO.Same network, same time, same location , same speed test (speedtest.net), different devices. Is there some throttling going on? I've cracked 1mb only twice on the evo while the aircard has done it nearly every time i've checked in the last two years.pingtimes are horrible in the 300's while my aircard is at 117 or so usually. This is a killer for my ps3 gaming. Or could this just be the fact on the evo app we can't pic the servers and maybe its using a bad one or its far away.Hopefully this issue will be resolved before my 30 days are up. More money for slower speeds? I like new stuff but carrying around a phone isn't worth losing netflix and ps3 gaming.

About a week ago I rooted my phone. Mind you, I didn't have HUGE lag issues like most before I rooted. Just the minor complaints that most had.I'm currently running Plain Jane v2 with a2sd and OC. I'm clocking at 710/528, yet my phone is laggier than ever. I'm at my wits end trying to get this phone to work at a substantial speed before I go off to college. At some points my phone seems really super-snappy, but those moments are short lived.Linpack averages that my MFLOPS is about 0.96 at all times. I read that the standard for the eris is 3.0, and I'm unsure why my phone is running this slow.Does someone know some tricks, or a rom that may help my phone out? I'm dying to just have something to make my phone usable. Thanks a ton.

I have a rooted dinc with a Innocell 3500mAh Extended Life Battery.Other than the battery and being rooted (removed some stock apps and added wireless tether),its still stock (ie. ROM, Kernel, etc.).I don't talk, text, or browse the web much, but I do stream Pandora ALL DAY at work.Usually about 7-8 hours non stop Ever since I rooted, it seems like it runs a little slower (ie. scrolling through home screens, exiting apps, sometimes it hangs or lags, etc. The snapdragon processor just isn't "snappy" (pun intended) as it formerly was.I was thinking about doing a Factory data reset ? or do I need to unroot, then reroot again?

Has anyone else been experiencing this issue? The rest of my applications have been running great.I love the new additions of 2.2 but was surprised to see a slowdown in Handcent.I understand that some people have been experiencing typing lag,I have as well but even while opening the application and choosing between contacts I have noticed a great deal of lag.Enough to make me go back to the stock messanger(which could have used some customization options with froyo IMO).

Not sure what is going on. I have a Linksys WRT-160N router. Before the OTA 2.2 update I would get speeds on WiFi between 15-18 mbps (speedtest.net). Now Im getting less then 3G speeds, like 1.3 and under.
Ive tried to tweak settings in the router and no change. I even did a factory reset on the router and still same thing.
Finally I went to my moms house and tried her WiFi and got what I used to get 15+mbps.

Had probs with HTC Sense so did a factory reset n SD card format but ever since the reset the Sense works fine but i have noticed Sense is working slower and widgets appear to reload every time i go to a particular homescreen.....this didnt not happen before
Also whenever i power it up, some app icons on homescreens show as the default android icon and not the app icon, after a few seconds and changing homescreens then the app icons appear as it should, i didnt see this before the reset?
Should i ignore this as its not to big a deal or do something about it?
Last question,
THE LED on my desire only shows orange for notification and green for charging, is this normal cause i have heard that it should show green and some other colours too......
BTW i have Desire 2.2 froyo

Was pondering if anyone else notice, the stock browser being a tad bit slower (about 7 seconds) with a custom kernel, compared to stock.
Yes i have tried multiple kernels with the same results, i wonder why this is the case, i love the features (unlocked fps/Over-under clocking) of some of the custom kernels , but losing 7-8 seconds is rather annoying especially on 3G. Running Froyo btw.

i always listen about the ram used in android is different than windows..
My first question is, why RAM is like 90% used, the phone become slower??? My second question is, Why 99% of apps are always started with phone, when enter in Applications section, and see Running apps, you see millions of apps, or when you enter like, Calculator or Torch or another app details it appears Stop.. WHEN I STARTED IT?
Im now user of Galaxy S Duos, when i have Motorola Atrix using a custom rom named "Neutrino" my ram, after flash it was 80~90 and here in Galaxy S Duos is 390~500 and the max is 685mb so so, than when press clean RAM, it closes a certain number of processes but only 50mb ram max it decreases... Why?

I am also using GO Launcher EX and Go Locker.
When i am using my phone for a while it is fast, for example switching the AppDrawer screens, Open Messenger close it again, Go to home screen instantly after pressing ( Home ).but when i leave my mobile for a while ( 10min + ) it become slow ( when i unlock the screen the Home screen appear after a while, the app drawer take long time to load and is laggy while switching screens, opening an application take a while too.
Notes :

2- I noticed that my phone lose Internet Wifi connection too, because when i open FB messenger it show me the "Connecting" message.. i also doesn't receive notifications after leaving my phone idle for a while.

So I will be getting my Incredible in on Monday. However, after seeing the Linpack screenshots for the MotoDroid at 2.2 I am wondering if the Incredible really is all that fast. I mean how come the Incredible is slower than the N1 if it has the same hardware? I know the difference is small but I just don't understand that. Also, how do they get the Shadow/Xtreme specs before it is released? Those specs are amazing, maybe I should have waited. Here is a link to the screenshots: Post Your Motorola Droid Froyo Quadrant Scores! | Droid Life: A Motorola Droid Blog. EDIT: The reason I am wondering about the 2.2 specs is because ours should be comparable to the Nexus One. How could the MotoDroid be so much faster than the N1? I'm not looking to bash any phone, I am just confused as to how this works out.

We have developed a GPS based app in which it record the user routes and show it on the map.......but Panning around on the map when reviewing my route is painfully slow, it takes at least 4 or 5 seconds for the map to respond the finger swipes......
Overridden the onDraw() method and drawing the lines to show the routes whenever we zoom on the map, the lat-long is again drawn by calling onDraw()(Overridden) method , which has the geopoints with lat- lon values, and thus it becomes very slower process to display the map .. is there any better way to do this so that panning becomes faster as in "MyTracks"
Following is the code to draw the routes on map...........please look into it and guide me how can i make it more efficient so that the panning and zooming works well......
