I'm trying to install the froyo update to my droid and im having a problem. When i connect the droid to my computer so i can drag the update into the root folder of the phone, the computer never reads the phone. It only shows the sd card and not the phones internal storage. anyone know why?

Im currently running BB v .04 and i just recieved the froyo update notice and no mater ow many times i say install later it keeps showing up. how do i stop this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedCan ANYONE give me instructions on how to install android 2.2 on my droid? steps say i have to be rooted and use all these nandroid backups and sprecovery and all this jazz. i looked up some sprecovery stuff, its kind of complicated i think i could do it i just dont trust much cuz i dont wanna brick my droid. can anybody who has done it please explain to me how to in good detail so i can have froyo on my droid please somebody explain to me every step from just the 2.1 update1 i have on my phone, to android 2.2 froyo the one that came out june 5th for download.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI removed a bunch of bloatware a couple weeks ago after I installed the one click root tool. Now I can't upgrade my phone to 2.2 with the update.zip file because I have removed the bloatware. I'm getting the Error 7 code. Is there any way that I can just restore this to the complete factory settings and automatically restore any bloatware so the 2.2 update will work?

Can we update to 2.2 via update.zip in recovery, install rom manager, and then install MY backup on his phone? I'm currently uploading them to file hosting, and wondering if this would work.
If so, will he be fully rooted, deodexed, and themed(I'm rocking the xtreme 2.2 theme)?
I followed the instructions posted on here yesterday to unroot my phone - worked fine. The superuser and and wifi tether are now gone. I went in this morning to try to manually install the froyo update from android and me, and when trying to run it, I get the following:

I want to just custom recovery restore to the deodexed ROM here (Droid X 2.2 Froyo Deodexed and Ready For Themes) but cannot because I get the following error every time I try to restore a backup from custom recovery: "e:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 device or resource busy.I think I found out that it is because this Koush recovery is the original 2.1 version, so I need the 2.2 one.Two things:-Where do I get this 2.2 newer version? View 12 Replies View RelatedI tried getting Kies to install the Froyo update on my Galaxy S (i live in the UK) using the registry hack that has been widely published. It didn't work and I ended up witha slightly newer version of 2.1 than I already had. Phone seemed to work fine, until I put my SIM card back in. It immediately restarted itself as soon as I tried to use 3G.
I went through all the settings, everything seemed to be the same as it was before the flash, but still it restarted everytime I connected to the 3G network.
Sooo, I decided to try and restore it to the previous firmware version again by changing the KIES regisrty values. Everything seemed to go well, phone downloaded the correct version, installed it fine etc and then KIES notified me that the firmware upgrade was succesful and the phone will now reboot.
Only it didnt.
It turned off and hasn't turned back on since
It doesn't get recognised when plugged into USB, it doesn't even show a charging logo when plugged into the mains. It does get VERY warm when I leave the battery in for 10 minutes or so though.
I've tried all the three button combos posted around, I've taken the battery out and in and out and in etc etc... nothing. It's a shiny 9mm thick brick now
Problem since Froyo update? Have you had MAJOR problems?

It supposedly finishes and after it reboots I get stuck @ the Motorola "M" screen indefinitely. After that it wouldn't start up @ all and wouldn't respond to anything. So now I'm attempting an SBF root. Is this the right thing to do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have read a bunch of different posts and after installing almost* my bloatware that I removed it still doesn't update. The only thing I am missing is corporate directly. I checked the ape bundle, and that isn't in there.

So I rooted my droid about 2 months ago. I have Bugless Beast V0.4 and I used SPRecovery. No joke, but as soon as I rooted, I got the official Froyo update from VZW. I clicked on install and it took me to recovery mode ( i think that's what it's called) and I just clicked on "reboot now" and my phone stayed rooted. Now I'm getting the Froyo update message about once a week (since then) and each time I just "reboot" the phone. Well today I got a text from VZW saying that my droid was sent the Android 2.2 update and to click for more info. What do I do and/or how do I stop the updates from coming? I love the way my droid is right now and do not want to change it.!

I've heard mixed reviews about whether or not I can upgrade when the update comes out to Froyo or if I have to set my phone back to root. I used the easy root tool to root my phone but if I need to put it back is there an easy unroot program? Or do I not need to worry about the rooting.

I used to have my droid rooted to droidmod I think, I started having some problems (this was months ago so I'm sure everything was fixed) and I unrooted and went back to stock 2.0.1 and then used the ota to update to 2.1. So I am waiting on froyo and I was just wondering if I update and don't like it will I be able to flash back to 2.0.1.

The first day I had it I had an error that kept occurring because of the htc keyboard I had previously been using. After restoring the keyboard to stock that problem went away, but the biggest problem of all took the forefront. I can't go more than 5 hours without needing to charge my phone. Before the update I usually charged my phone daily because I am a relatively heavy user. After the update, I am not using my phone any more than before. Today I charged my phone 3 times. Some people have said it is the facebook app, but I uninstalled the latest updates. I have noticed many of my programs are opening up in the background on their own.
View 47 Replies View RelatedIt may seem crazy, but I have an app that I use for business purposes (ustream). They do not support 2.2. I emailed them and they quickly responded with grim news. Basically, they don't know if/when they will support Froyo. Qik vid doesn't do what I need it to do. Also, I hear there are many other apps that won't work with froyo. As good a an improvement Froyo is, it prevents me from doing what I do. Any way to prevent update and update reminders?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noticed the GPS icon at the top of the screen even when I'm not in a GPS app. It's definitely affecting my battery life. I've rebooted the phone a few times. I used Google Maps last night, but closed it before I went to bed. This morning my battery was really low and the GPS icon was still sitting there. My wife noticed a similar occurrence of GPS running more than expected on her Droid X as well.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf anyone gets the update as a test user, post the update.zip here in a mediafire, etc., link. Hit install later and save to SD card, then mount the phone to the computer and move to your computer then upload to a file hosting site of choice. We wont have to wait for it to "roll out" by this method. Once downloaded from said link, and saved to your computer, move to root of SD card, boot into recovery and install update.zip.

Since I am assuming you can get the update without warning, I just wanted to know what steps to take, so I can have no problems with an OTA update.
