View 7 RepliesSprint just tweeted about a new update for Hero. It would come up under "HTC software" section of system updates. Doesn't seem like it does much at all, but reports are that it will kill root.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know I'm in the minority here but I DON"T want Froyo!! As a former Eris owner who had to suffer through having my phone ruined by the 2.1 update, which is why i now have a droid, I'm not willing to let verizon/moto ruin another phone I'm very happy with now... Is there a way to kill the message that comes up notifying me of the update or do I just have to be annoyed by it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo my phone was rooted using 1 click method during 2.1. However, my phone is now in 2.2. I did a hard/factory reset. Apparently that didn't remove Superuser permission. Residual root files are still there. I made sure to untick the option to back up my settings. So... I'm guessing I have to manually get it out. Any ideas how I can do it now? I'm looking to root 2.2 but I think it's best if I start fresh.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to remove my root. I had tried to remove root using SuperOneClick but it said superuser not on this device, even though it was. After a ton of work I finally FINALLY got superuser.apk off of the phone. Now what do I have to do next to finish unrooting my phone?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm developing the Soup or Root program for droids (computer-based, no apk yet sorry) as we all know, but I'm getting so tired of having to reflash my Droid to stock ROM over and over and over! I'm now working on Soup or Root 2.0 which means I'm going to be rooting my droid multiple times again to test effectively, but I really really really like the custom ROM and settings and everything I have on there now. Is there a way that I could save my Droid's current state exactly how it is as a flash able ROM for when I'm done testing, just flash to this ROM and I'm back to what I like? That way I could flash to stock ROM, root test, reflash stock ROM, root, repeat until testing is complete, then flash to my current state (ROM backup) and be happy with my Droid? Maybe I could get the droid simulator on my computer to be recognized by ADB, what do you think? That would save me all trouble of confusing the crap out of my poor Droid!
View 8 Replies View RelatedI know that for example the Droid X has motoblur, and the bootloader hasn't been figured out yet, so you can't use custom roms. However, can root access allow someone to remove motoblur, or is that impossibe still?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAny idea how to remove APP2SD and partition off my droids sd, and get back to the rooted but stock SD size?

View 5 Replies View Relatedi would like ot root my X so i can get rid of bloatware, and maybe increase my battery life, change fots etc. i had a couple questions, adn i cant seem to find a straight answer. could you call help me? here a goes.
what is the Easiest way for me to root my X? so i have to install a recovery first? How do i remove the bloatware after i root?
where is is there a list of Great working ROMS for my rooted X? is there a Stock Rom on here somewhere ot DL also? so i can have a clean slate. i read that my X bootloader is locked. what does that prevent me from doing?
I have followed every guide that I can find. I cannot get my phone to either receive the OTA update and I cannot get it to update manually. This is the error that I get:
assert failed: file_getprop ("/system/build.prop","ro.build.fingerprint") == "verizon/inc/inc/inc:2.1-update1/ERE27/161494:user/release-keys" || file.getprop ("/system.build.prop","ro.build.fingerprint") == "verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/231334:user/release-keys
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip

Installation aborted.
I had a stock Incredible that I rooted with Unrevoked3. I then ran Unrevoked Forever on it and then downgraded to remove root. I placed the 2.2 Update on the sdcard and went through the recovery menu to select it and then try to install it. The above error is what I get everytime I try to update. This is also the same error I got when I tried to accept the OTA when I was rooted (in my grogginess in the morning when I woke up and saw the OTA, I just kept hitting ok having completely forgotten about my phone being rooted). I don't know much about coding other than the little I use to do with Java/C++/HTML in school, but what I am getting out of this is my phone does not like the 2.2 update file. I am assuming that it may have an MD5 Hash in verifying/installing the file that it does not like?
title says it all. i manually installed froyo and it is so buggy there is definatly a problem, now i am seeing that they may be holding off on releasing the OTA. so i ask... Is there a way to remove the 2.2 update? and go back to my 2.1?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to ROOT your Droid after the 2.2 Verizon update? If so, is there a link for it? Is it the same process as before?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to root after the OTA 2.1 update yet?
Sorry, I had my noob goggles on this morning and accidentally applied the OTA update after I did the baseband update so now I've lost root. I know, I know... that update file should never have been on my sd card to start with.
I did a backup with ROMmanager prior to these updates, but can't do anything with it now. Just need to root again so life can continue.
Is it true that after the 2.1 update that you will not be able to root?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI tray it to root mi droid via update zip but i get this message E:signature verification failed installation aborted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI accepted the 2.1 offical update from verizon on my droid and have been patiently waiting for 2.2 for flash! But we all know verizon etc take for ever to update so im going try to take the plunge and root for 2.2.

View 21 Replies View Relatedi'm attepmting to root my phone for the first time. after alot of consideration i figured i'd try it. i got SPRecovery on it no problem and did an advanced nandroid backup. but i can't get the update.zip file copied to the root of the sd card. how do i do that?

View 22 Replies View RelatedI remember there used to be a thread on the website that showed you only having to use an update.zip file to root the stock 2.1. Does anybody know where the thread is or how to do it?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just received my X 2 days ago. i just downloaded the new 2.2 the official update. can i root my phone now?
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust curious if anyone has the 2.1 update.zip file? Looking to possibly go back and root my phone.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI finally got 2.01 back onto my phone. It took a new version of RSD lite running as an admin to get it to work.. Now, I want to root this bad boy and install bugbless beast, where can I read up on how to install custom roms?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI always see people on this forum talking about having their phones rooted with the processor overclocked to 1+ ghz. The droid battery already has trouble lasting a day, how does overclocking not kill the battery extremely quickly?
Or does it and people decide it's worth it?
I feel like it only initializes when Maps or Foursquare opens. Otherwise, does it matter? Triangulation isn't always the nicest
View 14 Replies View RelatedIf I leave my phone on the dock while I sleep, with the screen dimmed, is there any chance of burning the screen?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo what are tge top killers of the battery? I know the obvious one is the screen. What else drains a huge amount of energy? Do things like multiple news feed widgets drain a lot of energy? I heard leaving GPS on absolutely wrecks your battery life as well.
View 42 Replies View RelatedWas doing fine until rain was coming, then battery dropped big time. Charged last night before bedtime, didn't use my phone all day and checked a little bit ago and was down to 50%. Normally I'd be at 80-90% under similar circumstances.
Here's the confusing part (Battery use):
42m 36s since unplugged.
Display: 67%
Cell standby: 26%
Phone idle: 8%
EDIT: BTW, this is LIVE weather.
