I open to read it and its a reply from the conversation that I was having on my PC via the Droids Google talk. So I reply back via the Google talk on the PC and dag gone it, if his response didnt come back on the Droid. What the heck is that all about?

Dec 2, 2009Is anybody else having a problem with google talk and receiving a "[somebody] did not receive your chat" message whenever you try to IM somebody? It happens both on my Droid and in the chat client in gmail. The reason I'm asking here is that it only seems to be affecting my buddy and me and we both have Droids. Our friends who don't have droids can talk to one-another, but any message to or from us have issues. Could be coincidence but I thought I'd ask.

Mar 17, 2010So, not much of a Google Talk user, but now and then. And, I mostly use it via my desktop gMail app.. not on my phone.
Anyway, I close out the Talk app, but no matter what, even if it is closed, killed, off, it activates itself when someone sends me a chat.. even if I am logged on via my gMail account.
How the heck can you shut it off? What is it that makes it start up because someone wants to chat. I see no way to stop it and I am not always in the mood or able to chat and do not want to be disturbed but this Google Talk seems to start up and alert you anyway.

Aug 16, 2010Hi everyone, I recently flashed sapphire 1.0.0, frozen yogurt, bugless beast 0.4 with clockwork mod recovery V 2.0.1.3, and had success with all roms above, except for the fact that in sapphire, i'm greeted by the droid setup tutorial, which is completely non-responsive, (I remove the setupwizard.apk from the Gapps .zip which causes it to set up without a hitch), and in all of the mentioned roms, when I attempt to use gmail, gtalk, or the market they all crash on startup. In the market I see a hint of the EULA before im booted back to the home screen. I'm coming from 2.2 build number "voles-userdebug 2.2 FRFxx 49593 test-keys".

Dec 14, 2009Anyone else having issues with Google Talk on the Droid Eris? I can open the application, however my friends list is gone and I can't receive or send any messages. I went into the application manager and cleared the app data, and also power cycled the phone. Any other suggestions? I doesn't appear i can delete and re-download.

The one that I found, the hard way after 3 straight days of only getting 10 hours of battery life, is the Google Talk service. I accidentally opened it and System Panel didn't kill it. May 3, 2010My status on Google Talk never changes despite the fact that I have the settings checked in settings to "go to away when I turn off the screen" as well as "show mobile indicator to friends". This wasn't functional in 1.5, 2.1v1 and now 2.1v3 on my Eris. Has anyone had success? I've seen this function work on a TMobile rooted G1 but that's it.
I can watch the indicator change on the web when I change it manually (signed in as another user), and its very responsive. However, no auto-away when i lock the phone, and no indication that I'm on a mobile phone.
HTC Droid Eris :: Google Talk Chat Messages Counted Towards SMS / MMS With Verizion?
Feb 12, 2010Ive been reading this forum for several months, and bought my Eris last month (previous Blackberry Storm owner). With my Blackberry, I was used to having Blackberry Messenger service that allowed me to message other BB owners, without using my SMS/MMS count with Verizion. Without that, I have set up Google Talk as an alternative.
Pardon me asking something here that everyone else proabably already knows, but does the Google Talk messages get counted as SMS/MMS messages by Verizon ? I do not use it except to message one of my friends from time to time, so I am fairly ignorant about the various types of 'chat' messaging systems out there.
Thanks for your help, and I am enjoying everything that this Eris can do so far. I was a bit leery at making the switch, but I can see Android systems are a good way to go.

May 12, 2010I was wondering if anyone has been using Google Talk exclusively for SMS and ditched their texting w Verizon all together. I mainly ask as I am curious how reliable it is as a replacement for SMS. I'd love to cut my phone bill by $20 a month. My friend (5-6 months ago) said he was having issues w Gtalk in regards to some msgs not sending, or he never actually received them to his phone. He had issues with his N1 on Tmobile. Is anyone still experiencing similar problems? My SMS MUST function and be completely reliable as I use it constantly to communicate with my managers.

Apr 11, 2010does anyone have a copy of the Talk.apk. everytime i flash a new rom and do a titanium restore it makes talk mess up(tap the icon and it instantly closes) which in turn messes with all of the other google apps like market and gmail so i need to see if pushing another copy into /system/app will solve the problem.
