Is anyone else noticing that the three "built-in" groups in Google Voice: Friends, Family and Coworkers are NOT synced? These are my three biggest groups. I'm sure I could create duplicate groups, but that seems silly. Can anyone confirm the same behavior and/or suggest something to get these groups syncing properly?

Is there a way to sync only one specific Google contact group rather than getting everyone that happens to have a phone number from the generic "All Contacts" section? If I go into the standalone Contacts app the only contacts I see on the "Contacts: Google" list are the ones I want but when I go into the contacts in the phone app everyone and their grandparents are listed.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I first set up my phone, I synced my Google contacts (from 2 accounts). I have since cleaned up my contacts, no longer syncing the Google contacts ... I only have my phone contacts. After cleaning things up, I still have 2 empty "Google" contact groups.My question: Is it possible to remove a contact group? I haven't found a way to do it and I have had no luck searching here or on the rest of the internet. I just want to clear up the clutter. I think it's silly to have 2 empty contact groups.

I made the greeting, it plays properly in the GV settings in a browser but when I test it from a phone in that group it stays as the default "The Google Voice subscriber you are trying to reach is unavailable..."
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have them filtered on the Handset so that only those marked as Friends or Family under Gmail contacts are shown. I can't help this as otherwise I'd have well over 1000 contacts to scroll through on my phone.
My issue is that should I add a contact on my phone it doesn't appear. This is obviously because when it's created it has no group membership. It still resolves against SMS etc but is not displayed in the Contacts list. I can (when near a computer) quickly jump onto gmail, manage contacts and put the person into the right group but ideally I'd like to be able to do this on the handset.
Is there any way at all of editing Google Contact Group membership on the handset? I certainly can't find the option if it exists. Alternatively is it possible to change it so when the contact is create on the handset that it automatically saves as a 'Friend'.
I want to add a contact and have it sync with google. Only problem is when I create a contact I go into 'people' - 'add contact' and then select the drop down box my only option is 'phone'. am I missing something here? I have google sync turned on.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter installing Facebook 1.3 and 1.3.1 on my Eris with 2.1 my Google Contacts are stuck in a sync loop and draining my battery. It tries to sync, gets an error about contact sync not being available, tries to sync, gets error, etc over and over. Since I'm not able to uninstall Facebook, only uninstall upgrades, going back to an older version causes the non-stop syncing to stop. WOO HOO! Has anyone else experienced this? I want the new Facebook 1.3.1, but the I can't live without contact sync.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)

View 1 Replies View RelatedHere me out for a minute. I think it's great that I can have my contacts all safe and backed up to my gmail account. However, when I use my gmail e-mail, and I send an e-mail...it automatically adds them to my contacts.
Am I weird for wanting my phone JUST to have peoples numbers in my contacts? I don't need people's phone numbers who live in England, because I'll just e-mail them if i need to ask them anything. Maybe I'm just old school and so used to my non-smart phone.
Anyway, I want to put my contacts onto my SD card and have People read from that. Is that possible to do?
The thing I'm scared of doing is that IF i unclick sync google contacts, all the contacts on my phone disappear. Did this one before by accident.
I have several contact groups setup in google Voice/Gmail. I cannot seem to access/send to these groups via my Droid Gmail/Voice application. Handcent is the only application I have that seems to be able to send a single message to one of my google groups. Anyone have an idea on how I can send an email to a group via google?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen adding new contacts to the droid x, it added it as both a goggle contact and phone contact. (i only have one goggle account setup). I went into contacts -> menu -> more -> settings. I am UNABLE to check/unchecked the "Phone Contacts" (it is always checked). The goggle one i am able to check/unchecked. WHY and HOW can i toggle the phone contact? Also, backup assistant only takes PHONE contacts and not GOOGLE contacts...while g mail contact sync only takes goggle contacts and NOT PHONE contacts. How can one change phone contact to goggle contact? (i have seen posts all over but no answers...and just replies saying "i have the same problem") I am trying NOT to have two (2) different types of contacts. PHONE and GOOGLE. I just want goggle contacts ( or phone contacts. so i can at least use verizon's backup assistant.

When I use Google Voice Search to call a contact (e.g. "Call Wendy Home" [my wife]), the contact is found and the number is dialed successfully, but the picture doesn't show on the screen (just the android image). However, if I look her up in contacts and make the call, or receive a call from her number, the contact image is displayed. Is there a setting that needs to be made to enable the contact picture when using voice search?

I got the ota update last night and all my facebook contacts were deleted. I tried to reboot the phone, resync, and pulled up the app. When I opened the app it have the pics and thefacebook conact info, and that was it. Anyone else having this problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently returned to android. I was hoping this issue with google voice had been worked out, especially as I am about to do a full convert/port to google voice.
So the same contact will text me but often times google voice will create multiple threads making it very annoying to sift through them on the Voice SMS Inbox. It does this also on my browser window. Its not 100% of the time, but almost seems like if its a text on another day, another thread is made. Is there a way to fix this or merge the threads under the same contact?
My first experience with Android was 2 weeks ago when i finally received my Incredible (after having it on order for a month). I came from a Blackberry connected to my company's BES Server. I had started taking pictures of my contacts with my Blackberry and the pictures synced with the contacts in my Outlook.When I setup the Incredible to sync with the exchange server all of the pictures I had for my contacts instantly showed up as the contacts picture on the phone (just like on the Blackberry). I just figured that is how it is across all of the Android phones.Got my X last friday and found out that it apparently doesn't pull the contacts pictures from Exchange when i gets the rest of the data. Neither does it push pictures taken from the phone up to Exchange.My question is: is the Droid X's software lacking this feature normal for Android phones?Do Nexus One's and Samsung android phones sync contact photo's with Exchange?Trying to figure out if syncing contact photo's is just one of the extra niceties that come with the Incredible's Sense UI?

I have had the phone for 3 days and have had my Google Voice acct for over a year with never an issue with it. This morning, the only change I made to my Android phone was adding
an app from the app store called "Facebook Touch". About 2 hours later, I learned that every contact on my Google Voice contact list, which I did a sync with on my phone, got SPAM
with the same SPAM - It was texted out to everyone, here was the message -

I can't imagine that it could not have come from the phone. Maybe from that Facebook Touch app as that application had a lot of SPAM just within the application itself (its not deleted).
I would like to do this without having to manually enter all the dates. Is there any way to sync the contact birthdays and anniversaries to my google calendar without manually updating? Im running launcher pro using the calendar widget so it would be nice to see the dates on the calendar.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving issues with gmail contact sync. I was using the blackberry tour which I synced regularly with outlook. When I switched to the Droid i exported the vcard into gmail and the gmail synced with my droid. The problem is some of my contacts have been merged with other contacts. For example, Nick with no last name was merged with Nick H that does have a last name. They should be two different Nicks and I dont understand why the droid is combining them. I have checked the gmail account and the two Nicks are NOT merged together, but the two Nicks ARE merged on the actual phone. My phone was syncing with facebook and gmail but i disabled the auto sync and just manually synced the gmail on its own but i still have the same problem. I also have another friend with the same problem on her droid.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Sprint and an integrated google voice number. I also have a tablet I use to send/receive GVoice messages. Problem is, only the received messages will show up on my phone...any message sent through GVoice isn't there. Ps, I understand WHY, just looking for a way to get around it.
Is there any app/technique available (searched FOREVER) that will allow my phone to sync up with the sent messages from GVoice? Essentially, I want to be able to have a gvoice only conversation on the tablet and have the same conversation show up on the phone.
I installed the latest Facebook app on my Droid today and found that it synced most of my contact photos beautifully. (I chose the second option: only to sync photos with my current contacts) However, one minor issue and two less minor issues:
- For one of my contacts, the picture didn't sync. Dunno why but I guess I can just add the photo manually.
- Another thing is weird. After making a call I've noticed that in my dialer's "favorites" tab, there is a contact who I am friends with on Facebook but whom I do not have the number for, nor whom I have ever called at all! This person keeps reappearing (with FB profile pic and email address) in my dialer app, but the person is not in my actual Google / Android contacts.
Any ideas on how to fix that latter issue? Whenever I delete this person's listing from the Favorites tab, they keep reappearing after I make calls (to other people) O_o
Oh, and since we're talking about the Facebook app..
- Is there any way for Facebook to use the Android notification system to let me know about any new FB notifications? As it is, I'll be on the computer and see some new notifications, but on my Droid I have to manually refresh notifications in the app before it knows about them. Kinda weird.
