Motorola Droid X : Camera Is Dead Since Update
Jul 22, 2010I did the ota update, and since then my camera has been dead. It opens and I get the focus square, but just a black/blank screen.

Motorola Droid X : 1.13.604 Update Adds Dead Pixels In Camera
Jul 20, 2010My brother and I both just updated to the new firmware and noticed something.. Go and open up the Camera app (hold the red button) and tap "Switch to Video" and then tap it again so you are back in the picture mode. Look closely at the screen (point it at a white/black wall), do you see a couple light blue/green little dots in random spots? I noticed it on my phone first and then went and asked to borrow his and sure enough, his has them too. They don't seem to actually be in the pictures themselves.. just on the viewfinder screen.

Jul 21, 2010My DroidX was working for the few days with no dead pixels on any of the menu screens, none on any of the software applications, and none on the Camera or Camcorder applications.
On Tuesday afternoon I downloaded and installed the DroidX 1.13.604 Software Update.
My DroidX now has some dead pixels that appear only in the Camera and Camcorder applications, and not in any of the other applications or menu items.
Since the dead pixels only occur in the Camera and Camcorder applications, could it be a software related bug or mayme something else?

Aug 6, 2010I updated to 2.2 OTA a few days ago and since then my camera doesn't work. When launched all I get is a black screen that sits there indefinitely. If I kill all running processes and try again the screen goes black and immediately returns to the home screen. I did notice that a few days ago it suddenly started working again out of nowhere, but the following morning it was dead again. I've tried a full factory reset but no joy.

Jul 21, 2010I had my DroidX Cell Phone since when it was released last week.
The Cell Phone was working very well with no dead pixels on any of the menu screens, none on any of the software applications, and none on the Camera or Camcorder applications.
I had checked for the dead pixels using different colored backgrounds, and using dark screens especially with the Camera and the Camcoder application.
On Tuesday afternoon I downlaoded and installed the DroidX 1.13.604 Update.
The DroidX now has some dead pixeks in the same location only in the Camera and Camcorder applications, and not in any of the other applications or menu items.
You need to use the Camera and Camcorder applications in very low light and viewing a dark screen and you will definitely see the white colored dead pixels.
If you using the Camera and Camcorder applications and you are looking at an object in a bright light or in an outdoors setting you will probably not notice the white colored dead pixels.
Since the dead pixels only occur in the Camera and Camcorder applications it is probably a software related bug.

Jul 21, 2010Got the Droid X on 7/15, everything was great, got the system update, now the camera won't work. Black screen only, even though both the Camera and Camcorder apps behave like they're working (with a black screen). Cannot take pictures at all, can take video, although no image is shown and playback of videos is a completely black screen.
I look in the camera and it looks like the shutter is open, although I'm not 100% certain what a closed shutter would look like. I think I can see the lens.
I did a full System Restore, the problem did not go away.
I've tried the camera app from the marketplace, facebook, etc., all treat the camera in the same way: just a black screen.
Trying to take a picture, the focus noise doesn't even sound.
This was working prior to the update, albeit in a leggy manner. Should I return my Droid X, or is there some other software / use fix I have not tried?

Aug 1, 2010Just got my Dinc in the mail & spent a lot of time setting up & customizing it.After a few hours doing this, I decided to try some of the phone's features namely the camera & video camera.The camera doesn't work! All I get when I bring up the camera app is a reddish/pink background with "snow". Anyone else encounter this problem?I'm assuming I've got the latest updates for the phone as it just arrived. Nov 9, 2009I got my new Moto Droid on the day of release, which so far I absolutely love. However, I just looked at it and noticed that there was a single dead pixel in the top left corner. I wouldn't have even noticed it had it not been on the gray background of the top status bar the rest of my wall paper is black so it would've been easy to miss.Has anyone else experience dead pixel(s) on their new phone? I'm going to try to get it swapped out this afternoon which I think they should do. It just makes me mad that I have too.

So far, I have:
-Lowered the brightness all the way
-Taken the Sync off
-Turned off GPS/WiFi/Bluetooth
-Let battery drain all the way down and then charge it.
Still, however, my battery is draining very quickly with moderate use. In fact, when it is in standby and locked (screen off, no activity), it still drains at an incredible rate.
Is my battery fried?

Sep 30, 2010I noticed my phone has stopped being charged by the wall charger. Not to sure why this is. I tried several different outlets in my house and it wouldn't charge. I then used the same cable and plugged it up to my computer and it charges with no problem. My car charger cable works too. Any ideas why the wall charger would want to stop working all the sudden? Its not the cable because like I said I have it charging via my computer.

Checking battery usage, this is what I found: com.android.launcher - 46%, Beautiful Widget (just uninstalled) - 37%. I have never noticed these processes taking up so much battery. Background: I have been receiving a low storage notice so I deleted some apps, texts and pictures and plugged in for the night. The next morning the severe battery drain began. I was concerned about shorter battery life after the latest update so I have recently changed my settings to lower frequency for refreshing email, etc.

Jul 22, 2010note: this is an artist rendition because my digital camera is terrible and i couldn't figure out how to get the dust in the shot. but it looks just like this. it's a black speck under the screen that can only be seen on bright surfaces and only if you are looking at the screen head on. i'm not sure if it might be a dead pixel. i can certainly live with this problem although i'd prefer if it wasn't there.

Nov 7, 2009I just got my new Samsung i7500 Galaxy and try to connect to the PC, First my NPS rel 1.2.0 did not accept the phone, I could see it, I could se virtual disk, but not connet to the phone , NPS said "Not supported phone", I went to Update NPS, and NPS found rel 1.3.0. IJ1 which I downloaded and installed. Then phone still not connected. NPS displayed message- "this firmware not supported, only supported function is upgrading firmware", well that was easy :-) go to update in NPS, found new firmware version, and NPS downloaded, copied the old version from the phone to PC, and then uploading new firmware, it went all the way on the PC to 100%! and Success - completed.
However Display on Phone is still showing " Downloading..." and show a blue square icon in display, after 2 hours I took the battery out for 5 minutes and put it back in, and the phone goes back to "downloading " -
I have tried to :
Power off Hold volume down + call button + end call button and Volume down + OK (center of d pad)) + power
But this just "lock the phone in a mode with display off".
Any Ideas on how to reset the phone and start on again ? Do I have to turn it in to Samsung?
Motorola Droid X :: Dead Pixel But Already Put Wrapsol On Now Need To Do Master Wipe
Aug 7, 2010I called up service just now and looks like I have a dead pixel that a battery pull didn't make go away. I am annoyed now because I will have to do what they called a master wipe or something and all the customizing I have done will be gone. I don't even know what I am doing but I will just go to the store by work to have them walk me through it.Is there anything I need to know about a master wipe and keeping all my stuff intact?
Is there something that wrapsol will do now that my nicely protected and wrapped phone is going back to the verizon God's?I also told them about the 2 times in the last week the phone went to sleep/blacked the screen while scrolling through the home pages without hitting a button or anything and they said neither the pixel or the phone going blank are known issues

I have to send my dead phone back once I get the new one, and am concerned about the fact that it's rooted running Froyo. I'd like to restore the nandroid backup I made of stock 2.1. Aug 19, 2010I cant figure out why my camera button is tiggering the volume and not the camera. Every time I press it to use my camera it keeps lowering my ringer volume and when im in the camera mode(from app) it wont snap any pics, it just takes me back to my main page and lower the volume.
