So I was trying to show off my phone today and when I tried to take a picture the screen was black. It won't take a pic or anything. This is the first time I've tried it since the update.

Has anyone had there camera just show a black screen? it makes the autofocus noises but black screen. I have done a bat pull and it still doesn't work.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a big black dog. anytime i want to record her with her taking up just a portion of the screen the droid screen turns very very dark almost all black. to the point hwere i can t really make out what i am recording. whats the point? i have tried differnt settings but i still get the same thing. has anyone else had this problem with the camera goinng black?
View 4 Replies View RelatedBoth flash was set on auto (yes even the second one) in low-medium lighting. This happened on my first Droid after a week or so of owning it so I returned it. Tried a hard reset and restarting the phone, didn't help. I also cleaned the lens and made sure my fingers were not in the way. The flash does go off each time.

I've been playing with my camera today, and finally figure out how to take decent pix, but after scrolling through my album, I tried to go to the camera again, but now everytime I try the screen is black. And it stays black even after I remove my battery. A few times, I couldn't even get to home--the screen just stayed black.
Now it's still black when I go to the camera, but at least I can access home without having to remove my battery. I called Bestbuy and they said I can exchange, but I'm afraid I might get one with a messed up GPS. :-( Will Bestbuy fix it or make me exchange? Will Sprint fix it even though I'm still in my 30-day trial?
So I just finished my ota 2.2 update... since the install everything has been working great however when I open the camera (still or video) it will not open. The screen will turn black with the camera or video image and then go back to the home screen. I have tried restarting the phone with the same results. Any suggestions? Has anyone else experienced this? btw I was unrooted and stock if that makes a difference prior to the update.

I'm happier than a pig in poo with my Droid 2, the thing is amazing.However, my girlfriend's not so much. She got the deal from Wireless Amazon Beta, where she only paid 39.99.I wasn't able to, wasn't eligible for upgrade and got mine at the store.Anyhow, her phone a couple days in would freeze, the screen would go black, and then it reboots.Now it happens a couple times a day at least.Obviously seems like it's defective, but I'm wondering if anybody else is dealing with the same problem?If so, have you taken into Verizon. what have they told you or done for you?Wondering if she should send this back to Amazon Wireless, or head into a Verizon.And I'm wondering what kind of return/exchange/refurbishing headache were in for.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I soft rebooted a few weeks ago, I lost a bunch of settings (like wallpaper, default notification sound, skype). Also the HTC weather widget stopped updating on its own. I can manually update it but it stays at one location, not the one I am at. Used to work fine. Seems like "my location" doesn't update for it. I ahve tried to reboot, reload widget, reset my location settings - no change. My stock web browser also resets at some sites (this one especially). Never had this issue before.Tried to update my profile and the screen just goes black. Stays that way until I hit the back button.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWell I managed to get my hands on an X from my local VZW store this morning. First impression of the screen is that it is very washed out when compared to my old Droid. Side by side, the original Droid shows colors very vividly while the Droid X almost looks like it just made it past black and white. Just wanted to get some opinions on the screen from others. I also managed to play with a Samsung Vibrant at a T-mobile store and it was very beautiful, almost makes me want to return the X and wait for the fascinate to come out on VZW.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI uninstalled launcher pro to see if I preferred the original interface, and now I only see the top status bar, and nothing else.Turning from normal to landscape still works, so it looks like the phone is working, but the interface is gone.I tried turning the phone on and off again,and get the same issue.I know how short supply they are in, and would REALLY like o get this working again.

Even then, I cannot consistently see the call options. Also, when trying to multi-task, the unlock screen pops up and I am not always able to perform multiple tasks because as soon as I perform the unlock motion it goes right back to the lock screen. View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter buying a HTC Desire in August, I've been very happy with it. The best phone I have ever owned. And after rooting it and installing LeeDroid's 1.9a ROM, I've been enjoying the tweaks and a2sd+. Anyway, I have a Telus Desire which I unlocked and am using with Fido. I followed this guide to root and this to install the LeeDroid ROM.
Ever since then, however, I have not been flash any new ROMs. When I flash a new ROM using ROM Manager, it goes to the white screen with the HTC in green then the screen/phone just shuts off becoming unresponsive until I take the battery out then in again. When I open ROM Manager, it gives me a pop-up that says "Recovery Failure" with three lines which say:
- Recovery mode is "broken".
- ROM Manager doesn't reboot.
- Other.
I tried to reload the clockwork recovery using ROM Manager and Unrevoked. Didn't seem to fix the issue. There is an official OTA update that I couldn't install due to the same issue. If you have any input as to how I should fix this issue
Yesterday I received an OTA with 2.2.1. After unpacking and installing the update my phone rebooted as normal. When booting the Nexus-logo appears, but afterwards the display remains black. There are indications that the phone boots up as normal, as I can hear the sounds (ex emergency-call) when pressing the display. The display works perfect in boot-menu (rescue etc)
I've tried to do a factory reset and pulled out the battery several times to try to reset - all with no luck.
In addition I've placed an update.zip on the sd-card in order to perform a new manual update, but after choosing recovery, my phone restarts and the screen turns black. Any idea how to solve this?
I recently rooted my phone and deleted a few stock apps, all of which were on that list of apps that were okay to remove. I just did a hard rest and now when the phone turns on, it just sits at a black home screen. The only thing i can do it hold down search and search the web, seems like from deleting some widgets it messed things up. Any way i can install a new from or something like that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAre any of you having trouble with this? The sensor doesn't seem to be working the way it should. I have a problem accessing the keyboard during calls to automated services and sometimes the screen won't stay lit long enough for me to end my calls.
Aside from that, my Droid keeps freezing up today. I haven't had any trouble with that before. I've got a week to go before I pass my 30 day trial. I'm not sure what to do. This phone has to be mailed in as I got it online. If there's a way to fix these problems, I'd rather not send it in and wait 3 weeks to receive a new one.
I got the Stealth Guard for my son's D2 and I followed the instructions wetting my fingers and the adhesive sode of the plastic. After installing, the screen died and is on but no lights work on the phone to backlight it at all. I powered it off and told him to give it the night... but do you think I ruined the phone now? I'm really upset that I may have ruined my boys new phone. Please tell me that this is something that self fixes!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just plugged into Kies and performed a Firmware update, which I assume was the Froyo update. It all ran it's course perfectly and the phone then went to reboot. Following this, it hung on the Galaxy S animated screen before simply going to a black screen (I know the phone is still on, because the two bottom corner buttons will light up if pressed).
I realise that this black screen is quite common, and that people suggest booting into recovery mode. The problem is, I've never been able to get my phone into recovery mode. I turn the phone on and hold down Power + Home + Voume Up for a couple of seconds and then let go... it does nothing, it just goes onto the Vodafone screen and then carries on booting.
I also tried holding down these buttons for a little longer, but all that it does is pushes the phone into a constant restart loop (as obviously I'm holding down the power button).
Ive noticed when I put the Droid to my ear to make a phone call... the screen goes black... then it takes a couple seconds when i pull it away for the screen to re-appear.... How do I stop that from happening?

I believe surfaceHolder.unlockCanvasAndPost(canvas); is supposed to release the canvas and force the screen to redraw correct? That's not what I'm seeing. I'm getting strange behavior where the final draw works, but each previous draw only shows a black screen.
For a better example: I draw a small character sprite at the left side of the screen. Then, for each successive frame of 100 frames I translate the image one to the right. So I expect to see the sprite slide to the right as the program runs. Instead, the screen is black the whole time until the end, when the sprite appears already on the right side of the screen. It's as if the very last call to unlockCanvasAndPost() is applied to the screen, but the others are hidden or not drawn. I've verified that they are, in deed, being executed.
My screen turns black when i wake up my phone. frequent reboots, that it does on it's on, not to mention the lines showing up across my screen. this phone has never been dropped and has a screen protector and case on it. looks like i'll be calling verizon for a replacement - totally unacceptable, but understandable considering it's a new phone.. and it seems these days things are being rushed out the door.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was rooted and and had lagfix on my fascinate. Then I decided to download the new update from verizon today. After the update the update screen kept on popping up even after I already installed it. Then I found out that my apps that require root like autokiller and setcpu did not work anymore even though I still hade the superuser app. So I rooted my phone again restarted it and the apps worked again then I decided I wanted to do the clockworkmod installation thing so I could make my phone flashable, the instructions recommended that i remove lag fix so I took my phone plugged it into the pc and went to my ryan lagfix folder whatever on my desktop and clicked on the unlagfixme.bat thing and at the end it had some errors or something even mentioning the Innopath Activecare in it which was for some reason probably why it didnt work. So I decided to try it again and it didnt work. Then I rebooted the phone and I saw the samsung logo and then black screen!

If I hit the track ball as usual it acts as though it's taking a picture though it's also nothing but black. What am I missing here? BTW, I'm on 2.1 and did a factory reset two days ago.
