Just got my Dinc in the mail & spent a lot of time setting up & customizing it.After a few hours doing this, I decided to try some of the phone's features namely the camera & video camera.The camera doesn't work! All I get when I bring up the camera app is a reddish/pink background with "snow". Anyone else encounter this problem?I'm assuming I've got the latest updates for the phone as it just arrived. FW = 2.1-update1

Anyone else get an Incredible through the mail from Verizon that arrived with a dead battery? And by "dead" I mean that it will not take a charge. Mine arrived yesterday. I plugged in the battery and started to get to know the phone. After 10 minutes or so, I got the "plug in" message. Well, by the time I got the charger cord ready, the phone had shut off. That was 18 hours ago. It's been on the AC charger since then, but the phone will not power on. I'm HOPING it's the battery.
View 13 Replies View Relatedjust wonder if you all could take a quick look at your camera bezels around the lens for me. when i look at mine, in the top leftish part there is a small gap between the lens and the bezel. almost like the bezel it self is not completly round. seems like enough space for dust or foreign matter to get in. is it just mine? are all your glass flush on the bezel? just don't seem right. if i take the battery cover off, and press down on the bezel it makes it flush.. but is the bezel supposed to float like that? you think htc would just mail me a new bezel to stick on there? it only seems to be held on with glue of some sort. does any of this make sense at all?i have now put a small dent in the bezel from putting slight pressure on it with my finger nail.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI believe DroidDave mentioned this in another thread over the weekend and I thought, "Hah! yeah right..." But I was just standing outside in the sun and noticed that it does seem to have a tiny lens in the top left corner of the phone. It could not be very good quality, but it does seem to be there... This is not wishful thinking on my part because I cannot see myself ever having a need for a front facing camera anyway, but it is interesting.
View 26 Replies View RelatedI noticed that a tiny spider on the wall next to my desk liked to chase a laser pointer...I also noticed that the strobe mode of my flashlight caused the spider to become disoriented and not chase the laser pointer.Anyway I decided to make a video of this on my Incredible. I recorded spider+laser and then added the strobe for a total video of about a minute..everything seemed to go well for the recording. When I played it back though, after the strobe started, the strobe frequency started to slow down and then the image froze while the time counter kept going. This is a pretty fast strobe of at least 10 Hz (just a guess on my part).I panicked a little thinking I fried a sensor somewhere, but I recorded another video that worked fine. Remember this wasn't a direct hit of the strobe, but bouncing off a nearby white wall WITH all room lights on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone rigged up a device to convert the back camera into a front facing camera? I may experiment with this at some point. In the past I have simply sat in front of a mirror and pointed the camera into the mirror, this way I don't need to flip the phone back and forth to video chat.
However, I am envisioning a device (perhaps made of plastic or cardboard... business cards might even work) with angled mirrors on it, that can sit on top of the phone. One mirror would be facing the camera, the other would be facing you. The second mirror would mirror your image to the mirror facing the camera. Just a thought, I haven't played with this, so the image may be upside down, requiring another mirror. Attached is a paint mock up. I'll post my results when I get around to building one. I encourage others to try and improve upon a design. Could be a cool little project.
So my Dinc which I bought on launch day blew the front speaker yesterday. I called Verizon and they are shipping me a brand new Dinc out today. My question is, I have already rooted my phone and installed like 50 apps on it with tons of other crap, settings, data, etc. I have made multiple nandroid backups and titanium backups. Can I just save the backups on my SD card then get my hands on the new Dinc, root that one as well then use my backups on the SD card to just load everything on to the new phone so I don't have to go through the process of re-setting up my entire phone again?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI updated to 2.2 OTA a few days ago and since then my camera doesn't work. When launched all I get is a black screen that sits there indefinitely. If I kill all running processes and try again the screen goes black and immediately returns to the home screen. I did notice that a few days ago it suddenly started working again out of nowhere, but the following morning it was dead again. I've tried a full factory reset but no joy.

Go and open up the Camera app (hold the red button) and tap "Switch to Video" and then tap it again so you are back in the picture mode. Look closely at the screen (point it at a white/black wall), do you see a couple light blue/green little dots in random spots? I noticed it on my phone first and then went and asked to borrow his and sure enough, his has them too. They don't seem to actually be in the pictures themselves.. just on the viewfinder screen.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy DroidX was working for the few days with no dead pixels on any of the menu screens, none on any of the software applications, and none on the Camera or Camcorder applications.
On Tuesday afternoon I downloaded and installed the DroidX 1.13.604 Software Update.
My DroidX now has some dead pixels that appear only in the Camera and Camcorder applications, and not in any of the other applications or menu items.
Since the dead pixels only occur in the Camera and Camcorder applications, could it be a software related bug or mayme something else?
I use Google Voice on my new Droid and love it. I am trying to use it for SMS but my problem/question is - how do I set it to notify me that a SMS has arrived? I realize there is a lag in receiving these but that's not my problem. I'll open GV and see 5 SMS messages that have been there for an hour and I received no notification.

This morning, as a part of my daily routine of exploring appbrain, I installed astro and Weather Forecast&Clock Widget. I got busy with meetings and got back to my phone after 3 hrs to find it at 25% charge. Within the next few mins. it went to 0% and now dead. I didn't have time to see if the google sync was causing this....Have any of you had a problem with these two apps hogging battery ? Or thoughts on other possibilities ?

View 12 Replies View RelatedThe battery in the Magellan in my car died and I didn't have a charger with me. So I pressed my DInc into service as a GPS unit. I must admit it performed remarkably well. The user interface on it wasn't as smooth as the Magellan, but the Magellan is designed to function as a GPS and only a GPS and the DInc isn't. The only problem I had with it is I couldn't see the screen as the screen was washed out in the sunlight. Is there any way to combat this? How can I use this as a GPS replacement if I can't see the screen?

I let her play with mine a bit (my PHONE! get your mind out of the gutter) and she went monday and ordered it from our local Verizon store. FedEx left a call tag today and I'm about to run out to our local hub and pick it up for her (2 day delivery !) Anyhow - the CSR at the Verizon store said "when you get your phone - make an appointment with me and I'll activate for you". We're leaving tomorrow for a short trip - and I really don't feel like postponing it for a couple hours just to get a phone activated. Are we able to activate these ourselves? When I got mine - I left the store for an hour or two and when I came back I was all set to go.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy DINC seems to be overheating a lot lately. Checking System Panel I see temperatures as high as 109. The symptoms are as follows: when using to browse the internet, check Face book and do email, continually for 30+ minutes - temp 102 - charging on Verizon Auto Charger - temp 109 - GPS for 2-3 hours - temp 104. Have brought this to Verizon's attention 4 times. Each time it was noted, I was told that they could not recreate it. Finally, after it getting to the 109 temp, I called and was told take it in and tell the store to exchange it. So, my questions are: 1 - has anyone else seen temps like this? 2 - if they take the phone and exchange, I lose all my apps, correct? Is there any way for me to get them to the SD card prior? 3 - do I try to get a different phone altogether?

I'm going to get it replaced and am really considering the Dinc.I've found that I rarely use the slide out keyboard on the D1 because of the Swype keyboard love that thing.I'm looking for some insight on the Dinc and especially how it compares to the D1.How does Sense work? Does it slow down the phone? How has the update process gone so far? Anything else I need to know?

I have a screen protector on it and use the plastic verizon case and I take the case off, wipe it down with the cloth the provide with the screen protector, sides, back front and the screen protector itself.Then I wipe down the plastic case itself.Put it back together and it looks so nice.

I know there is a setting on the browser to turn off the mobile versions of internet web pages, but upchucking that box still doesn't do it. I still get mobile versions of web pages. I thought the Dinc/droids were similar to the iPhones in this regard about not being "a version of the internet" but the ACTUAL internet. Someone correct me where I'm wrong. I can't get the mobile version turned off no matter what I do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
