HTC Eris :: Removing Applications Included In ROM?

Sep 28, 2010

I have finally figured out how to root and flash new roms. I have the xtrSense and love it. But my question is this. How do I remove some of the apps at were included on the rom (ie.- amazon mp3, original calculator, footprints)? These are apps that I don't and/or won't use and can't see wasting the disk space.

HTC Eris :: Removing Stock Keyboard

Apr 29, 2010

I am having a problem with the stock keyboard on my Eris. I don't really like the HTC keyboard so I installed the vanilla keyboard and switched defaults and whatnot. However, some apps (like "setup" for example) switch it back to the HTC keyboard and then I have to go back into HTC Sense and switch it and everything which is a pain. I know that the easy answer is "don't use those apps" though I really just want a permanent fix for it. Anyway to do this?

Motorola Droid :: Unroot - Back To Stock (Removing SU)

Feb 7, 2010

Everyone is always so concerned about unrooting, removing su, removing busybox, etc., and so-forth. Well, finally an extremely simply solution. Almost too simple. Go to the Market and install SholesMod Updater. Sure it's $5, but it does it all for ya. Just install the application like any other, then open it. Select "Stock 2.0.1 (No root)" and let it do it's thing. And no one is the wiser. Hope this puts some minds at ease.

Android :: 2 Stock Eris Applications?

Nov 30, 2009

There are a couple of default applications that she has, that I would like to get on my Droid (or something similar). I just haven't been able to find them on the market yet. 1. Favorite contacts app (displays pic of contacts in a grid style) 2. Bookmarks app (also displays bookmarks in grid style). If either of these are available, I probably wont get both, because i know they would take up an entire screen (right?), but just want to see whats out there.

HTC Eris :: Remove Unwanted Stock Applications

Jun 5, 2010

I was good with the leak, but then i experienced a few hardware problems and had to get a replacement eris. Well, now i am rooting this beasty, tryin to overclock it. The guides have been helpful and clear on getting to this point, but now i am stuck of the multiple roms out there, very few of them actually list what's available. I wanted as few as possible of the stock apps (peep, amazon, footprints, all that garbage gone), overclock, 5-7 screens, and for it to do my taxes, change my timing belt, and book flights for me all at once, but can't seem to find out. Right now i've got home, senseui, and nexus launcher loaded up on here, using senseui cause that's what i am used to. Nexus launcher seems to be well a resource hog that this phone cant handle without overclocking.

Motorola Droid :: Moto Droid Rooted Or Eris Rooted

May 11, 2010

Currently I have an Eris with v3 Leak meaning I can't root. But my wife loves my phone so I plan on giving her mine and either getting another eris and rooting or a Moto Droid and rooting. I've been trying to read up on the Droid and the different ROMS available and have some questions.First I want to make a few things clear:

1. This IS NOT a phone comparison.

2. The Incredilble IS NOT an option since it can't be rooted and I don't want to spend $200 on it.

3. I'm looking for WELL INFORMED OPINIONS, if you don't have one keep moving there is nothing to see here.

To be fair I've obviously done a lot more reading on the Eris which is why I'm looking for well informed opinions from Droid owners that way I can make a well informed decision.

General :: Removing Root From Stock ROM Zip?

Jun 5, 2014

So I spent hours searching for the stock ROM for my HTC Desire 300, so that I could unroot it. Then I deleted the entire OS/Rom by mistake and was left with a brick. Finally, I managed to find this stock version. It's rooted, and has the same SuperSu error about updating. Is there any way for me to remove the root files from this zip? so that the phone won't be rooted when I flash the rom? Which files would I remove?

In the Zip I have the following items:

META-INF (Folder)
Boot (Disk Image File)
Recovery (Disk Image File)
System (Disk Image File)

Motorola Droid :: Superuser Permissions Blocked For Rooted Applications

Mar 26, 2010

I was messing around with my phone being bored and went into the superuser permissions app. I was looking at all the entries that were in there and I know that it's just a list of permissions you've allowed on your phone. Anyway I wanted to see what would happen if I clicked on one of them. Well it cleared it from the list and I just clicked on all of them so when I'm in the SU app there is nothing there. Now when I try and get into one of my apps that require permission it tells me it requires root and doesn't have permission. So it looks like I blocked all permissions for my rooted apps. The question is how do I get it back? I'm sure I can just reflash a nandroid backup I have but I was wondering if there is any other way?

Motorola Droid :: Stock Rooted 2.2 Froyo

Aug 4, 2010

All files needed are available on my web site: Android - whiterabbit.org unless you still need to root your phone or downgrade to 2.0.1, the files needed for that will be linked to from those guides. The purpose of installing this way is to use the original OTA updates from Google, and only modify them enough to have root access. When you are done, you will have a system that is capable of installing the next OTA (gingerbread) when it arrives. Hopefully we will be able to patch it in the same way to keep root. This is only for people who don't want to run custom roms, but still want to have root.
