I'm struggling with contacts in the phonebook modified by code, I noticed the lack of the small icon that identifies the type of account (e.g. google), despite the contact is perfectly synchronized with google (ACCOUNT_NAME and ACCOUNT_TYPE are populated of course)
In attach an example of this icon taken from contacts synchronized with google icon present (not modified via code). Which property controls his icon ?

I 'm trying to read and display contacts from phone book in android. My Device is synced up with gmail and funambol which togehter have more than 600 records. Now by default my application reads gmail contacts. On selecting any contact from the displayed list, it throws an exception as the list is displaying a gmail contact which just has email and no phone no. I need phone no to use in my application.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am one of those crazy types with 2000+ Facebook friends for games and such. When I get my DInc. (hopefully this week or early next week.) and do the contact merger thing, Do I have to merge in all of my Facebook friends? Or can I just pick a filter like Family and Close Friends only? This would bring the total merged contacts down to a much more manageable 100+ or so. Really do not want 2000 people on my phone, that would be a mess! If there is no option other than all or none, I may have to start a new facebook account just to limit the chaos.

I just want to access them on my phone, and see a photo when they call. I added everyone's details myself, but I can't believe there's no Add photo option (or non that I can find anyway!)
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have messages with the name of the contact, and when I select 'add recipient' the phonebook already contains the contact. Yet when I then go to my phonebook after exiting 'add recipient' the contact list is empty. I don't really understand what is going on with this, can anyone help?
P.s. this only happened after the new update, I restored everything using backup and restore and they seem to be on the phone but not visible.
I have updated my phone because I had gotten some new contacts through facebook, and I would not ..Therefore, I also update the phone again to reset it all ..Now I can not get the contacts in the phone book, though I had backed up everything. And last time I updated my phone, there were no problems getting the contacts out again!?When I send an sms I can easily find my contacts, search for a name!Can not figure out how to have them in my phone again ..So I have the latest update on my Sony Ericsson x10 mini and finally I got the latest on there was no problem with getting the contacts in the phonebook!

When I want to send a message, I get a mountain of address book options because my email addresses from my Gmail account appear to have automatically imported themselves in to my contact list (I don't recall authorizing this). I thought there was a way, maybe I had to add something to my computer where I could type highlight the name, address and phone number, right click up a menu and have it all added to my phone book.
I have just received an update with the latest firmware for the Mini Pro. My RoadSync still does not sync my Outlook contacts to the phone. Mail and Calendar works just fine but when I try to reach my contacts I am just presented with the blue menu, asking me to add users manually or to sync with Google etc. There are no more settings to set in the RoadSync application more than to checkmark the contacts - then they should "automatically" show up in the Android contact list, which does not happen. This is really a very big issue, making the phone almost unusable.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI know that MIUI uses a separate contact picture as a small icon (automatically downloaded), and a caller picture as a fullscreen picture when you get a call (manually set from gallery), as stated here. For me app Friendcaster automatically downloads my friends' facebook profile pictures in full size, and sets them as contact pictures. Can I use these automatically downloaded pictures as fullscreen caller pictures?

Its a picture of a simcard with a small cog wheel in the bottom left of it.
I cant get rid of it and cant find anywhere a list of notification icons and what they mean?
I cant clear it, i can select the icon in the dropdown notification listing but it does nothing.
Anyone got an idea or a list of default notification icons and their explanations????

i've just upgraded to the Desire & am liking many things in it, but this issue bugs me:i've synced & linked the contacts in my 'people' app. in some cases, this involved linking the FaceBook profile of a person with a pre-exisitng phone number in my phone/sim card.The problem is that the phone seems to default to the Facebook 'profile picture' as the icon/photo that shows up in my People app (for that contact), even if tell it not to.I've tried downloading new pics, or taking a photo with the camera, and then manually setting this as the 'icon' for a certain person. This works for a while (a few hours?) and then within one day, the phone automatically re-sets this icon & replaces it with the Facebook profile pic. again.

Of The Damned posted a link a few months ago for a Picasa web album with designs and pics for android wallpapers... Oliver Erben android wallpapers... The stuff in there is great! I can only get the small icon version of the pic to bring up the "save image" option? when I hold down on the image, not the full pic. Because off this it's really grainy as a background on the phone. Anyone know how to do this, or get other free and safe (no ads or bad stuff) wallpapers on my eris?? I am concerned with some of the wallpaper apps in the market because of all of the badmouthing in the reviews. Help out an amateur! Thanks in advance for your responses!

I've seen like 5 completed syncs in the log, out of prolly 30 total attempts. Either way, i cant log in to check the contacts online. I get this:

Right now there is little that I look forward to with rooting. Obviously the icing on the rooting cake would be in hopes to get a froyo rom sooner rather than later. But one question and concern I have with that is when a froyo rom comes it will remove sense? Meaning stuff like face book contacts syncing will no longer work? Did I get that right?
View 13 Replies View RelatedThis is for people who use GPS a lot. Before I would create groups just for my texting, but Navigation works great too. Took a wine trip to Santa Barbara. Had a few places (hotel, boat cruise, wineries, Santa Barbara Mission, some restaurants, that taco stand Julia Child made famous, etc.), and just created a contact for each. No inputting on phone or using voice, it's already done.Had concert @ Hollywood Bowl. They have shuttle service at some offsite locations like the LA Zoo or in Studio City. I just create a group called Concerts, and copy and paste address from website.Meeting friend at bar never been to? Already have a Group called Bars. Just copy and paste address, and your done.I have groups for everything. Family, San Francisco, San Diego friends, Hotels, Bars, sporting venues, whatever. I cross link whenever I can, Just hit People and slide over to Groups. The whole goal for me is just to hit buttons, and not have to input anything when I'm on run. Use it like AppBrain. So much easier to manage everything from Google contacts page. Just copy and paste eveything.Best part is, can delete or add anytime.Also saves me battery since doing stuff on computer, and everything is synced automatically.
